Pregnancy test getting lighter at 7 weeks

Hi All

I’m a first time expecting Mum and i found out I was pregnant around 4 weeks. I have been using the easy@home pregnancy tests and tested for the first week everyday. It was so lovely to see how dark the lines were getting and got to a point where I thought they couldn’t get any darker so I stopped testing. I did a test last Sunday (6 weeks and 2 days) and it looked lighter. I’ve tested again this morning (6 weeks and 6 days) and it’s most definitely lighter. I’m panicking! I’ve booked myself in for a viability scan on Sunday but now I’m convinced I’ve lost the baby.

Yes diluting my urine worked for me too. I stopped testing after that. Currently 11 weeks pregnant now and heard heartbeat on doppler Smile
Put the tests away or get someone to hide them from you, they just cause more stress

Stixviks · 06/06/2021 13:27

@Jp02x

Yeah im done now! I was sooo sad this morning when i got the lighter test and i really dont want any negativity so il just wait for my scans now only have a week to wait

Super happy for your result too hopefully you have a happy and healthy pregnancy 🥰

Rubyrecka · 06/06/2021 18:58

@twoheaped

I don't get it. If you had a positive test, why on earth would you carry on testing?
Agree with this!
Stixviks · 06/06/2021 21:34

@Rubyrecka
So ive had 3 miscarriages previously and like to test to reassure myself, my first time i was pregnant i literally went from a positive one day to a negative the next, so doing a test every couple days just gives that bit of reassurance
Yes i know its a bit crazy but its how i deal with it

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 10:57

Hi all not sure if anyone will respond but I've had 3 chemicals currently on aspirin and cyclogest pessaries but my test have gone lighter I can't imagine my hcg is too high to read I'm adamant it's another chemical and the pessaries are just keeping it there so abit in limbo 🙈 the pink test is from 4 weeks 1 day and the other 2 today at 4 weeks 4 days x

Hey @charlotte0808

So sorry to hear about your previous losses, have you been to get your hcg levels tested? Your local epu unit should do this especially since your worried this may be another chemical

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 15:22

@Stixviks thanks for the reply. They started getting lighter Saturday and epu closed till tomorrow so i will ring them. I feel but I'm limbo really. The specialist told me that the pessaries could stop it coming away naturally even if not progressing so I didn't know whether to stop them and let it happen but I have a scan booked for 23rd July I'm already waiting for a appointment letter to check the shape of my womb and my ovaries I know it's dull but I thought if I could hang on till my scan they would see if something wrong with my womb the same time rather than waiting longer on the list. How is everything with you ?

Stixviks · 11/07/2021 16:28

@charlotte0808 i get you babe, get down to epu tmoz and get seen to, i was worried as hell when i fell pregnant as we have had 3 previous miscarriages and epu were great did blood tests for our hcg and did a scan at 5 then 6 weeks

I would suggest keep taking the pessaries just incase at least until you know one way or the other hopefully epu can early scan you to see if your lining etc is in place everything is crossed for you xx

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 16:39

Thank you.. is it possible that miscarriages happen 'just because' or has there got to be something wrong with me? I've had tests done and all come back normal but I'm sure there must be other test can be done xx

Jp02x · 11/07/2021 17:01

I think unfortunately they can 'just happen' I had 3 early miscarriages in a row and then had a successful pregnancy and now pregnant again. Do you get pregnant fairly easily or does it take you a while to get pregnant each time? Sorry you're going through this x

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 17:18

@Jp02x it's been pretty close together got pregnant January February then March. Left it 3 months had tests etc accidentally got pregnant this cycle so I genuinely thought it was the case of 'meant to be' but I'm pretty certain it's not again. I don't think my issue is getting pregnant it's it actually sticking I've never lasted longer than 5 weeks. I'm confused on where I turn to next. The specialist told me to have my covid jab and she will talk to me in 3 months but obviously there is something wrong x

Jp02x · 11/07/2021 17:35

Sounds very similar to me! I'd get pregnant really easily but then the tests would gradually fade and I'd miscarry at around 5-6 weeks. The only thing that I did differently in my successful pregnancy was take Levothyroxine. My thyroid levels were 'borderline' so GP didn't prescribe anything. It wasn't until a reproductive nurse saw my results and explained they like the levels to be slightly lower during pregnancy. But I will never know if that was the cause of the miscarriages. Google 'super fertility refinery 29' and give the article a read. Its really interesting and could help to explain recurrent miscarriage. I hope everything is ok with your current pregnancy but I know that gut feeling very well :( x

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 17:56

Had my thyroid tested they said that was normal too so I have no idea.. feel like screaming don't you so frustrating I just keep telling myself one baby that's all I want never ever realised how much hard work it would actually be! I just hope I'm not infertile I will give it a read thank you xx

Jp02x · 11/07/2021 18:43

I'm sure you aren't infertile and you will get your longed for baby. I can remember how horrible and traumatic it is, feeling like there's something wrong with you and feeling like you will never be able to stay pregnant but it will happen. I know it's annoying that your tests came back normal as you just want an answer but it's actually a good thing that nothing was picked up and should mean you will be able to have a full term pregnancy. Is there any way you can contact your GP and ask what your TSH levels were on your thyroid test?

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 18:59

Thank you @Jp02x I really do hope so. Yeah I will definitely ring them first thing tomorrow and find out. Is there a certain level they have to be? X

Stixviks · 11/07/2021 19:24

@charlotte0808 are you on folic acid? If so whats your dosage? X

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 19:30

Hi @Stixviks yes I am. I'm on 5mg. Xx

Stixviks · 11/07/2021 19:33

@charlotte0808 and taking any other supplements?
Just asking as we were about to start ivf and was prescribed 5mg of folic acid dha for egg quality and then once i found out i was pregnant (naturally) we were told yo continue the high dose folic scid drop the dha and skso take pregnacare max on top and i feel its defo helped as we never got passed 6 weeks before and currently 12 weeks xx

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 19:37

@Stixviks what is dha? I take the folic acid and aspirin in the morning. Cyclogest pessaries 200mg twice a day and pregnacare max but I'm not sure whether it has worked for me. Seems that anything I do it won't stick. X

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 19:38

Is egg quality vital part in a healthy pregnancy? How would I go about having mine checked? X

Stixviks · 11/07/2021 19:44

@charlotte0808 sorry for all the questions hun, im just so hoping you get some good news, so we had unexplained infertility and was tood to take dha for 3 months before ivf as it can help with the quality of the eggs that get fertilised
Previously id tried coq10, vital dha with folic acid but kept miscarrying and i dont know if its down to sheer luck or if its been the high dose folic acid with the dha for 3 months thats helped us
If things dont go positively which im so hoping its a worry for nothing and you get your positive journey , then maybe something to try for next time see if it makes a difference?
I honestly wish you all the baby dust and that the wee one holds in there x keep us posted ♥️

NCSistineChapel · 11/07/2021 19:52

It could just be bad luck. Cell divisions go wrong quite often, resulting in mutations. Mutations in a single cell can cause catastrophic anomalies when the embryo is only a few cells big.

Do girls run in your family?

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 20:03

@Stixviks it's totally fine I like to talk to other people about it it's such a help thank you ❤️ glad everything is going well for you. Would I get dha from my gp it is that from the specialist? @NCSistineChapel my mother actually had 3 girl losses about 20 something years ago they had spine abifida and efface fallis. She had to carry them to nearly full term but they were already gone inside x

Stixviks · 11/07/2021 20:05

@charlotte0808 no you buy them online i got mine from biovea.co.uk xx

charlotte0808 · 11/07/2021 20:06

Also my nan but in my fathers side had 4 sons no problem and I remember she always used to tell me she was adamant she had a miscarriage and it was because she couldn't carry girls that was obviously years ago didn't have test the same then did they x
