Boy clothing that doesn’t make me want to stick pins in my eyes?

I’ve found out I’m expecting a boy and already getting frustrated at how ugly and unimaginative so much ‘boy’ clothing is - dirty brown and green colours, everything has a truck on it and don’t get me started on the slogan t-shirts...

Of course, I’m sure I would be annoyed just as much by the heavily gendered girls clothing but the floral patterns appeal to me more than muddy looking crap marketed as for boys.

Just wondering how other Mums are getting around this? I would really like bright neutrals but there seems to be little of this about!

I have 5 week old twin boys - Next has been my fave so far. Lots of fab prints and some lovely neutral things too!

Delbelleber · 10/03/2020 15:00

Have a look in h&m

Lazydaisydaydream · 10/03/2020 15:03

Next, H&M or scandi clothing (frugi, maxomorra, duns Sweden etc). Boys clothes don't have to be boring!

KHall84 · 10/03/2020 15:06

There is a shop called baby melanie who also have a website and they do some amazing boys clothing I use these or Zara, next, John Lewis

Wheresthebiffer2 · 10/03/2020 15:07

Boden always has beautiful colourful fun clothes for babies and children.

And if you have a bit more money - look at the Polarn O Pyret clothes online.

AutumnLeavesSeptember · 10/03/2020 15:08

Sainsbury's are a bit hit and miss, but sometimes have lovely boys' things.

Eropsawlkasd23455 · 10/03/2020 15:10

I also vote for Scandi clothes, but they have a hefty price tag on them compared to others.

Have a look on here www.littlefootprint.co.uk/

Have a look at TK Maxx - lots of bright colours. I found it harder to find non-pink girls' stuff, so DD got stuck in a lot of orange and yellow boys clothes, than to find non-navy / grey boys clothes.

It was the slogan "here comes trouble" type tops that always annoyed me.

SugarPieHoneyBunch1 · 10/03/2020 15:18

I buy all of DS's clothes from Next. I love their t-shirt/long sleep top and legging sets.

Tonz · 10/03/2020 15:21

I HATE slogan tops. Find a top lovely colour only to see something like I Am EPIC on the front. Just no

Mybobowler · 10/03/2020 15:26

H&M all the way! I had the same problem with my daughter. I hate slogans, unicorns and pink but I also didnt want to dress her in "boys" clothes. H&M do multipacks of completely plain, block colour tshirts and vests, neutral trousers, nice knitted jumpers etc.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 10/03/2020 15:41

I hate slogan tops in any gender.

Ive got most of my stuff from next.

Keiki · 10/03/2020 15:46

Brightly coloured bodysuits - it varies which shop is best - I've had M&S, Next and Asda. For leggings I've found Asda and JoJoMaman best. Have a look in the girl's sections too - brightly coloured plain leggings or funky patterned leggings and yes tights seem to be in the girl's sections. I've had many compliments on DC's 'leggings with socks attached - what a good idea' Hmm

DesLynamsMoustache · 10/03/2020 15:48

Kite, Blade and Rose, some stuff on JoJo Maman Bebe is OK. DD has a lot of 'boy' clothes and plenty are nice bright colours. The supermarket clothes tend to be a bit sludgey though. M&S have nice stuff too.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 10/03/2020 15:49

Next, frugi, instgram shops, gap (sometimes), Picalilly, Little Green Radicals and John Lewis are great!

Ontheblackhill · 10/03/2020 15:50

Frugi and little green radicals. For babies there are loads on ebay that have been barely worn and resusing is better for the planet. All pretty much non gendered.

ghislaine · 10/03/2020 15:55

Verbaudet has lovely colourful stuff for boys. I also found JojoMamanBebe pretty good.

Alfette · 10/03/2020 15:57

The main brands do nice girl's clothes that can be unisex (I love floral too!). My little boy has worn lots of them. For a real treat, Little Green Radicals is loooovely and so comfy and soft.

Alfette · 10/03/2020 15:57

And Congratulations!

Puddlelane123 · 10/03/2020 15:58

I reckon you are just shopping in the wrong places - I always see lovely boy clothing when out and about. M&S has some adorable ‘classics’ in at the moment

17caterpillars1mouse · 10/03/2020 15:58

Frugi, Toby tiger, maxomorra and Duns sweden.

Boots also have brighter sleepsuits

I know how you feel, I was so excited to go shopping when my nephew was born, after 2 daughters myself and was so disappointed and bored by what the high street had to offer

Rocketinapocket · 10/03/2020 16:05

Frugi
Duns
Maxomorra
Little Green Radicals
Eddie and Bee
Toby Tiger

TakeMeToYourLiar · 10/03/2020 16:16

Feel the same as you. DS is 3.5 now

His wardrobe;

Would suggest looking at second hand sites as they are pretty pricey

Emmacb82 · 10/03/2020 16:22

John Lewis is always my fave, but it can be expensive. Can also get some nice bits in m+s, jojomamambebe and even a lot of the supermarkets. I find the baby stage easy to find nice stuff, it’s when they hit about 2-3 and have to look like 10 year olds rather than cute kids

Standrewsschool · 10/03/2020 16:26

Vertbaudet also had nice clothes.
