Waiting club for 12 week scan

Anyone else waiting for their 12 week scan?

I'm 6+3 going off my last period & I'm already sooooo bored! I just want that confirmation and relief.

I'm pregnant (obviously) but I don't have strong symptoms.

I have nausea sometimes throughout the day, I ache, I want to sleep 24/7 and my hormones are off the scale. Crying over a banana one minute then laughing hysterically at nothing the next. The mood swings are just... yeah.

My cramping has stopped this past week and my boobs haven't got sore yet. I know, I know, I shouldn't complain! But I want to know this is real haha.

Anyone in the same club?

@SoohieJosie95 I've had two early scans (huge anxiety as I had a mmc last year discovered at a scan) so they were necessary for my mental wellbeing!

SophieJosie95 · 03/03/2020 22:03

@Treacle81 how did the scan go, lovely? X

I've not got my first midwife appointment until (by LMP) 13 weeks! I'm not sure if I'll get scanned then either, as it's in the health centre, but my GP told me they normally give you an unofficial scan at your booking appointment. I'm in Northern Ireland, anyone else?

I've got a private scan booked for this Saturday, I should be around 9.5 weeks. Just couldn't wait until 1st April and then maybe not even get a scan!

Treacle81 · 04/03/2020 11:29

@SophieJosie95 Aww it was just incredible, seen v active little baby on screen with a great heartbeat! Got a video and pics, incredible. She put me two days ahead so 9+2 today xx

I have an early scan booked for this Sunday (I'll be 8 weeks) as I couldn't wait for the 12 week one! Not even had a letter through about it yet, just a booking in appointment.

Tink1989 · 04/03/2020 16:24

I had a scan yesterday at 9w +3, am going back on the 24th for the "12 week scan", still anxious as hell about it all though

myfirsttimehere · 04/03/2020 17:15

I have my dating scan this evening, I'm so nervous! My midwife has put me at 12 + 2 but I had an early scan a few weeks back which puts me at 10 + 3. The wait for a scan feels like forever! I just want to know that everything is okay!

Holly3 · 04/03/2020 18:47

@myfirsttimehere Ah good luck for your scan!! You'll have to let us know how you get on ❤️ I'm 8 weeks today by LMP but an early scan put me around a week behind which also happened with DD so I'm not too worried & seeing my midwife on Friday this week so hoping she may book in the dating scan there? Xx

myfirsttimehere · 04/03/2020 20:33

@Holly3 Thankyou! Everything looks good so far! It was nice to have my mind put at ease! I am 10 + 4, but too early to do screening tests etc so I have to go back in two weeks time Smile this is my first time as per my name haha, I'm feeling exhausted but all my other symptoms seem to be easing off a little now! I hope all goes well for you on Friday! Xxx

@myfirsttimehere Ahhh huge congratulations! So pleased all was well & you also get to see baby again in two weeks time so that's fab! Thank you, I'm excited feels just as exciting as the first time! I've had terrible nausea which has been worse in the evenings & my boobs are agony 🤣 xx

butterflylove81 · 04/03/2020 21:20

I'm really nervous can I join please? I had a portable abdominal scan at 6+0 he said there was a sac in the right place but that was it no mention of a baby I was trying to stay calm and said maybe it's a bit early but my dates are right. I'm going back to see the consultant tomorrow and hoping he will scan again. I'll be 7+0. I have a proper sack appointment for next tues where I assume they could do a vaginal but I'm just worried that maybe the pregnacy isn't progressing if he only saw a sac last week

JaneyGotAGun · 04/03/2020 21:32

I had my 12 week scan this morning and all is well Smile I'm so relieved as I was feeling quite anxious about it.

I'm 12 + 3 and due mid September

JaneyGotAGun · 04/03/2020 21:35

Good luck @butterflylove81 with your consultant tomorrow, everything crossed for you Flowers

SophieJosie95 · 05/03/2020 07:58

Hey they did a vaginal scan they put me back to 6-+0 but there was a flicker of a heartbeat so relieved

SophieJosie95 · 07/03/2020 17:22

Hey ladies,

I had to go to the hospital this morning as I had an extreme case of vertigo and collapsed (fortunately) onto my bed. I've been week, exhausted & dizzy all day despite drinking more. They've put it down to dehydration but I also have diarrhoea so I'm not sure about that diagnosis. I've been peeing lots (tmi) so don't feel dehydrated. Who knows, hopefully it eases up soon x

That sounds miserable @SophieJosie95 , hope you're feeling better soon x

That's great news @butterflylove81 Flowers

I feel am very impatient too. I've filled out the self referral and called to try and find out what's going on. I feel like they just don't wanna know. My GP said they don't deal with pregnancies anymore and I am very lost and a little annoyed as to what to do next.

I am a larger person and from reading lots of forums I think it means they will monitor me more. There is so much variation between when woman are having their first appointment it seams a little unorganised 😭.

Thinking I just have to get myself an early scan and pay the money.

SophieJosie95 · 10/03/2020 18:39

@Nombie hi hun, I felt exactly the same way, I'm underweight and this is my first pregnancy and I didn't know what to do or who to go to so the obvious choice was the GP.

I asked her to check my BP as it's usually low and I was concerned about waiting weeks on end until my first maternity appointments.

I think pregnancy is such a commonplace thing that GP's rarely get involved now so it all goes through the midwifery team. That being said there definitely needs to be accessible research for first time mums so they know where to go/where to start/what to do! That way we don't feel so stupid making 'unnecessary' appointments!

My cousin was classified as very overweight and she was monitored closely but it wasn't anything too drastically different from regular appointments, I know it's so hard but try to stay positive, I took another test to reassure myself I actually was pregnant as the waiting makes you doubt it haha! X

Hi, jumping in. Only 5+1, had my first appointment with midwife at GP today so the ball has started rolling. Low blood pressure but nothing worrying. She told me about the gold standard of the next appointment being between 8-10 weeks and the hospital can only get me in at 10&1/2 week lol so I'm just waiting on that. I won't have too long to wait for a scan after that - that's how I'm looking at it!

Married2019 · 11/03/2020 13:14

My dating scan is at 3 today, im a bag of nerves!!!!

mincedpea · 11/03/2020 13:48

Good luck this afternoon @Married2019
How far along are you? Hope it goes well, fingers crossed.

Had mine this morning and all was fine. Was also a bag of nerves beforehand and had a very full bladder! Baby was measuring closer to 13 weeks rather than 12+3, but they didn't change the dates. Now just waiting for screening results.

How did you get on @ConstantlyPanicking? Hope you had good news today. Was it twins??

ConstantlyPanicking · 11/03/2020 14:03

@mincedpea it was just amazing thank you. I was so nervous too, I was sick twice in the car and its only 10 minutes away! Mine was pretty much the same, I had 12+3 and they put me at 12+6 so 13 weeks tomorrow...and only 1 baby!! (Phew!)

Glad yours went well too! For anyone still waiting my god it is so worth all the nerves. My sonographer made me laugh and baby had such a wriggle around she struggled to get a picture! My mum was a blubbering mess Smile

mincedpea · 11/03/2020 14:10

Brilliant news @ConstantlyPanicking, I'm so glad it went well! Agree that it's a total relief to see the baby there and growing away, it's wonderful once the nerves are gone. I'm already looking forward to the 20 week one 🙂 Mine did not want to play ball, even with lots of me wiggling around trying to get it to shift. So I have "view restricted by foetal position" on the report. Clearly it's a stubborn one.

Only one baby, must be a putting out lots of hCG then! How are your symptoms now? I am feeling really well, think I'm one of the lucky ones symptoms-wise. Hope things stay well for you and good luck to everyone else waiting for their scans!

Nombie · 11/03/2020 14:11

@SophieJosie95
Thank you for the reassurance. I got my first call from the midwife today, she seemed super nice over the phone. I think I'm gonna need a stern woman to see me through this as I'm a worrier and I hope she's the ticket.
'Booking in' apt is now next week and then she'll book the scan. I feel relieved now someone has got in touch with me.

I've read being larger and with first baby I'll have up to ten appointments, perhaps more if needed and they'll likly monitor me more closely which to be honest I think will be reassuring and I'll be thankful for it.
