There are an awfu lot of sophies around at the moment; 3 of my friends have had a sophie in the last 18 months. Also reminds me of French & Saunders sketch

Have to go with Soren, or of course Lola herself

claraq · 04/09/2007 21:18

They are all lovely names. Megan one of the top names on our list too, especially like it shortened to Meg. Love Imogen too but DH has vetoed because of Imogen in last year's Big Brother!!!
Good luck tomorrow, try not to laugh too much after the operation - it hurts

claraq · 04/09/2007 21:18

Sorry good luck NEXT Wednesday!!

Jackstini · 04/09/2007 21:53

Think Sophie & Poppy both go really well with your surname Hayley
(then again I am a funny arse who doesn't like surname and first name ending in same sound )

hayley2u · 05/09/2007 12:26

ok so know iv gonr off sophie and megan. our right about molly too bit of tongue twister. imogen may be too long with my surname.
so think it down to
erin
poppy
lucy.

really i want a really girlie name x any suggestions also welcome.
i think it ll prob come down to lucy or erin though

Erin is a beautiful name. Plus then you avoid the first and surname beginning with the same letter.

flightattendant · 05/09/2007 13:13

I know a family where the children are called Octavia and Bathsheba.

You cannot go wrong

pooka · 05/09/2007 13:15

Lucy. go on go on go on.
Tis a lovely name, completely classless, very pretty and I haven't come across many others of dd's age with the same name. And while I usually am not too keen on double initials, I actually think Lucy Erin Lawrenson sounds pretty good. Whereas I don't think Erin Lawrenson works as well. A bit more difficult to say, doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well.

scorpio1 · 05/09/2007 13:16

Lucia? Lucy/ Lucia is lovely

Sophia?

Fimbo · 05/09/2007 13:18

IMO Lucy Lawrenson just doesn't flow.

My niece is called Erin and I think it's a lovely name, in fact dh and I probably would have used it, if his sister didn't get in there 9 months before us!

How about:-
Rachel (my dd's name)

Alice

Anna

Gillian

hayley2u · 05/09/2007 15:45

dont know why but i'm thinking erin bit of a tom boy name, think might still go with lucy

OP posts:
Jackstini · 06/09/2007 10:32

My favourite is still Poppy, possibility for me if I have another dd.
Have distant memories from childhood of friends nicknamed Lucy Locket & Lucy-lastic though so they had fun with their name!

designerbaby · 06/09/2007 10:46

FWIW I think Lucy Lawrenson sounds lovely... a filmstar name is ever there was...

Hi, I'm Lucy Lawrenson, pleased to meet you...

Just flows... Brilliant, IMO...

pooka · 06/09/2007 11:57

I call dd Lucy-lastic sometimes. Also Lucy Lou, lovely Lucy and so on. I quite like being able to play around with the name. But I know that some people prefer not to have the flexibility. Not sure what you could do with Erin.
I like Poppy, but always think of Jamie Oliver (they have a poppy and a daisy) and know a few other poppies in my local area. Just think it sounds more fashionable than Lucy, which I think is a bit more timeless.

I like Sophie with Lawrenson
I do like alliterative names but not keen on Lucy really (i always think loo seat thanks to some poor girl at school who wsa called that)

Imogen too much of a mouthful with your surname

How about (if you are keen on the alliteritive approach!)

Laura
Leana
Louisa (my dd's name!)
Leah

others that wuld go well imo

Eliza would sound good too!

MoreTeaVicar · 06/09/2007 12:10

Dana pronounced Dayna or Dahlia pronounced Darlia

ClaphamLauren · 06/09/2007 12:11

Leonie would sound really nice with the surname.

hayley2u · 06/09/2007 15:54

i think it defo down to lucy lawrenson or erin lawrenson. my family all think i should go with erin but think i prefer lucy. i v always loved the name

OP posts:
hayley2u · 06/09/2007 15:54

think it l have to be a vote

CountessDracula · 06/09/2007 15:56

Erin lawrenson sounds VERY like Soren Lorenson

Fimbo · 06/09/2007 15:56

How about a change of spelling say to Lucie?

Aero · 06/09/2007 15:57

Obviously my vote is for Erin, but Lucy is also lovely, so haw about Lucy Erin Lawrenson. Looks good and sounds nice.

TigerFeet · 06/09/2007 16:04

My dd is Lucy, so obv I love the name but beware, there are a lot of Lucys (Lucies??? [pedant]) out there. DD is one of two in her class and 6/7 at her nursery.

I had no idea when we named her how popular it was, but tbh I don't think it would have made much difference, it was the only name that dh and I could agree on!

TigerFeet · 06/09/2007 16:05

Lucy Erin sounds lovely. I have a Lucy Ellen.
