Success stories would be great, I have around 77 day cycle and find this hard to think I'll ever get pregnant with such a long wait. Did a opk last Thursday and finally had a positive opk on day 56 but just feel its never gonna happen.

Any one with irregular periods wanna share their story to give hope to others please xx

My cycles vary from 33 days to 65 with no pattern as to how long it might be (although usually on the longer end of the range). Took us a year of trying and frustration but am now 17 weeks pregnant.

I found trying really difficult and every time my period arrived felt like a failure but a lot of it was just not knowing when the best time to try would be.

Remember if you’re struggling you can go to your gp and ask for help. I was about to do this before I found out I was pregnant.

Hope it works for you soon!

Arh I've been there and it sucks but you've just got to keep going.

I'm currently 8 months pregnant with my second even though I've always had extremely irregular periods.

Def try and go to your GP because there could be something really small you could change that would make a big difference!

Sending you lots of good thoughts and positive energy xxx

I have polycystic ovaries and have always had very irregular cycles that lasted from anywhere between 30-50 days. When we decided we wanted to try for a baby I had no idea when I was ovulating - using the ovulation tests I could never get a positive result so I started to worry that I wasn’t ovulating at all!

I then had a course of six sessions of acupuncture (focusing on fertility and stress relief) and alternative Chinese medicine - who knows what was in those tablets but it worked! Following the course my cycles became regular at 35 days long. I coupled this with taking my BBT every day (I used the Femometer and would recommend) and ovulation tests, which all combined finally helped me work out when I was ovulating. I became pregnant the second cycle that I knew for definite when it was happening...

Alternative therapy might not be for everyone but I really feel like it worked for me. I wish you lots of luck on your journey!

My cycles varied between 30 and 55 days. I found out I was pregnant after trying for approximately one year just as my GP was about to start infertility tests and I conceived in a month where we barely had sex due! I am now 23 weeks pregnant.

Best of luck to you and hang in there

I had irregular cycles since stopping the pill. Eventually visited GP and was diagnosed with PCOS and did not ovulate regularly.
I was prescribed clomid (an ovulation induction drug) which made me ovulate and gave me specific timed cycles. I finally got pregnant after several rounds of clomid drugs.

Hi, I have PCOS and my cycles were crazy varied, sometimes 100 days and sometimes 21 - OPKs are inaccurate if you’ve got PCOS so the doctors told me not to use them. We were trying for about a year and I saw a thread on here about Ovusense - quite pricey but I went for it and within 3 weeks of using it we had conceived, I’m currently 14 weeks pregnant 😁 can’t recommend it highly enough! x

Liam2018 · 28/01/2020 14:38

Hi thanks for your comments, I've been doctors had all the tests and has been told apart from a larger left ovary I havent got pcos. Then went to the doctors a bit later cause I decided to conceive and was told if I am having periods I am ovulating so keep trying.

Booked another appointment cause a period every 3 months is ridiculous - if I wait for 6-12 periods it would be years. Just feel like it's not meant to be:(

Yes I was about to start treatment and fell pregnant naturally I have a 6 month old now

Mol5 · 28/01/2020 16:20

@Liam2018 whoever told you "if I am having periods I am ovulating so keep trying" is completely wrong!

Having a period alone does not mean you ovulated.
You can have a period on time every single month with no ovulation.

It took us 3 years to conceive, 9 rounds of treatment and a million tests. I feel like a sad expert now.

I'd suggest getting yourself some ovulation testing kits, cheap ones off amazon to start perhaps; then you can get more accurate ones, up to high-end something like Ovusense is an incredible gadget and tells you the exact day of ovulation.

Don't let Doctors fob you off! The only way a Doctor could confirm you ARE ovulating was by doing a blood test of your progesterone level. x

Liam2018 · 28/01/2020 17:20

Thank you, I am doing opk and got what I think was a positive in cd52 picture below

But how accurate are these? Are their such things as false positive?

I had cancer treatment and when my periods
Came back they were very very irregular and I kept taking tests on the regular because it was so hard to tell if I just was having a long cycle. By long I mean like 8 weeks/ 60 days. Anyway my periods came back in the summer and I fell pregnant around beginning of November... so hard to tell when I ovulated though as my last period before that was august!! X

Amichelle84 · 28/01/2020 19:19

My cycles vary between 25 and 50 days. I was actually going for infertility tests as we'd been trying for over 2 years. We found out we were pregnant the month after we stopped 'trying'

Liam2018 · 28/01/2020 20:24

Thanks for your advice guys, congrats on all the pregnancies. Although it looked like I ovulated we didnt dtd as much as we wanted to due to being busy. So didnt dtd 4 days positive opk and 2 days after so I'm sure weve completely missed this month after finally getting a positive. So frustrating but you are all giving me hope Smile

Liam2018 · 28/01/2020 20:26

Apologies, that was meant to say we dtd 4 days before positive opk and two days after - so missed fertile period

Not really an irregular cycle but I came off the mini pill in December after not having a period for2 and a half years. I’m now 6 weeks pregnant.
Best advice is just to be “careless” ie no contraception and it will happen when it happens.
As a friend told me, the more you stress about timing and days and fertile windows, the less likely it is to happen.

My “fertile window” was 2 weeks ago according to my app. I was already 4 weeks gone.

Best of luck! Xxx

CuriousMumma · 29/01/2020 16:52

Mine have always been irregular, every 3-5 months was my regular cycle.

I'm now 37 with 4 children Smile

AaronBurrSirr · 29/01/2020 17:29

I always had v irregular cycles - PCOS. TTC around 18 months before I got referred. On my first consultation the doctor off-handedly mentioned a supplement called Inofolic she’d had a lot of ladies spontaneously ovulate and conceive on. She said it might be worth giving it a go while all tests were going on (they would take about 6 months). Long story short, I bought the supplement and conceived after 6 weeks taking it and before DH even had to go and wank in the cup Grin
(19 weeks pregnant)

november90 · 29/01/2020 17:54

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and my cycles have always been horrific. I haven't had a full PCOS diagnosis but I do have lots of cysts on both ovaries snd all the symptoms so it's very likely I have it.
I read a lot about Soy insoflates when I was ttc and had some to take as my cycles were painfully long but I fell pregnant that month so didn't need to in the end :) They are just natural vitamins to help shorten your cycle and strengthen your ovulation. I read that are natures chlomid! I would definitely recommend looking into them, I read SO many positive things about them :) and they are perfectly natural and you can buy them over the counter!

PunchyAnts · 29/01/2020 18:16

I'm feeding our success story right now!

I have never had any kind of cycle at all and have had around 5 or 6 periods per year. I visited GP who put me on the pill, which regulated my cycle while I was taking it. When I stopped to begin TTC, they returned to my "normal". I didn't have too much time to worry about it, because 3 months later got BFP.

For me, tracking ovulation obsessively just felt like completely the wrong thing to do. I tried to content myself that we might be a bit of a wait and that I would return to GP if still not pregnant after a year TTC.

Good luck, OP! Fingers crossed you have your own success story very soon :)

Lazydaisydaydream · 29/01/2020 18:42

I have irregular cycles with no cause identified. When we were first TTC I was referred to the fertility specialist by my GP said she said I didn't need to Have tried for the set amount of time as there was obviously an issue. I was prescribed clomid and had my little boy two years ago (it took about nine rounds of clomid - the first three didn't work and I had to take norethisterone to induce a period and then start again. Once the dose was right I was allowed six cycles and fell pregnant on the last one).

After having my son my periods didn't start again for nearly a year and a half (was breastfeeding as well). When they came back the first few were 28 day cycles and I thought I'd been cured! But then they went back to before, completely irregular with no pattern at all.

I found out on Christmas Eve that I am pregnant again - we weren't actively TTC but weren't using protection as wanted more children just didn't think we'd be able to (I wasn't eligible for any more clomid cycles now that I have a child). So it is possible to get pregnant without any medication on irregular cycles as long as you catch it at the right time Grin

Liam2018 · 29/01/2020 19:03

Is it possible to get a false positive on a frer? Thought I got my bfp looked pink and even oh saw it hard to pick up on camera so tweaked a little. Opened another packet of frer cause used my last one and used same urine and looked negative maybe a little line but not sure:S
