My expected date is around 15 - 20 feb. So I am currently approx in my 35th week of pregnancy and started noticing since few days that every evening baby makes hiccup like movements for some 10-15 minutes.
Googling scared me it could be cord compression or something , although it does say its mostly normal, but not after 32 weeks
Is this normal ?

Baby makes jerking and poking movements rest of the times of the day. Sometimes my husband can feel them if he touches my lower stomach when I am sleeping.

When I was pregnant I noticed hiccups from about 32 weeks until she was born, she now hiccups quite a lot too! I was also worried and googled like you have but I do think it's totally normal x

Hangingofftheboob · 13/01/2020 12:15

It really is probably just normal but if you are worried just call your midwife as it’s not good for you to be anxious. She will be able to reassure you much more than the internet can.

TheSandman · 13/01/2020 12:20

I think all my three did this. All turned out OK - but if you are at all worried about ANYTHING call your midwife. Ours always said they would much prefer 100 false alarms than to miss something serious because the mum was too timid to ask for advice.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 13/01/2020 12:21

I'd say it's fine. My first hiccuped all the time in the later stages of pregnancy. He is fine.

polkadotpixie · 13/01/2020 12:23

It was normal for me but if it's unusual or concerning for you, please call your midwife to be on the safe side

Mysocalledlifex · 13/01/2020 12:58

My baby had this i was worried too i now have a healthy 12 wk old. I would chat to your midwife just to put your mind at ease .

SmellyBeard · 13/01/2020 13:16

My baby hiccuped about 20 times a day. I worried too but a midwife reassured me it wasnt anything to worry about.

Go and get checked if you are concerned - they won't mind and you will feel reassured.

DesLynamsMoustache · 13/01/2020 13:31

are you sure it isn't just actually hiccups? My DD had hiccups several times a day in utero. She was a hiccupy newborn too!

Beck2277 · 13/01/2020 13:33

Mine has hiccups every day, currently 37 weeks. No concerns from any midwife I've spoken to, just baby swallowing fluid and things I believe! No health issue whatsoever. I wouldn't worry about google :)

Aquilla · 13/01/2020 14:07

Normal for me too, op.

Castoreum · 13/01/2020 14:10

My daughter hiccuped constantly. I think it's completely normal.

Harriett123 · 13/01/2020 14:13

My little one did this throughout the third trimester dont recall it being an issue. Hes 3 weeks now and still hiccups loads.
If your concerned mention the type of movements to your midwife I'm sure she will put your mind at rest.

cannotmakemymindup · 13/01/2020 14:16

My Dd hiccuped every time I ate all the way through my pregnancy and is still prone to hiccups 5 odd years later

However any worries you should discuss with midwife

Dyra · 13/01/2020 14:25

DD only started hiccuping in the third trimester. But she did it a lot. She still hiccups a fair amount even now.

Sounds pretty normal to me, but as with the other PPs, talk to your midwife if you're that concerned.

toomanyleggings · 13/01/2020 14:37

I had this every evening at the same time. It was weird I used to sit down to watch coronation street with a little treat, like a biscuit and off dc would go hiccuping like mad. I even asked the midwife if baby might have epilepsy lol. Dc is fine although we did have quite a lot of trouble with trapped wind and colic and

ConstanceL · 13/01/2020 14:55

My son was a big hiccuper in the third trimester and also was until he was about 5 months old!

SnoozyLou · 13/01/2020 15:16

My little boy started to get hiccups around then and had them frequently - every day - sometimes more than once a day. He was a very hiccupy baby too and gets them now every time he laughs. I wouldn't worry.

Ariela · 13/01/2020 15:26

Hiccups are quite normal I was told.

I vividly remember being in a meeting at about 36 weeks, and having to leave the meeting to go to the loo, as baby was bouncing on my bladder with every hiccup.

Got out of the loo to find all the meeting was assembled outside to check I was OK - they were worried at the pace I'd rushed off to the loo and assumed something was happening!

Samantha1712xx · 13/01/2020 16:13

Mine had hiccups everyday, at least once since about week 25. She’s now 4 weeks old 😊

Lou2120 · 13/01/2020 16:37

I'm 34 weeks and she has them 3-4 times a day everyday. I did google too however I do feel it is normal this is my third and my other 2 had hiccups everyday too

susandelgado · 13/01/2020 16:41

My baby had hiccups every night during my last few weeks, usually when I was suffering from chronic indigestion myself lol. It took me a while to work out what was happening! I wouldn't worry too much about it Smile

Butterisbest · 13/01/2020 16:44

I had this in late pregnancy and I couldn't work out what was happening until my son was born. He had hiccups after he was born and I recognised the movements.
He's 41 now so everything was fine. As pp have suggested talk to your midwife and I'm sure they'll be able to put your mind at rest.
Best wishes

georgialondon · 13/01/2020 16:50

It's very likely to be hiccups

Keepaddingpets · 13/01/2020 16:52

My daughter hiccuped loads in the 3rd trimester and still does now at age 17 😂

Bluntness100 · 13/01/2020 16:53

My daughter had terrible hiccups in the womb, it was a midwife who told me what it was when we were listening to her heartbeat, everyone smiled. I'd not worry about it. But mention it at your next appt, but it's quite common for them to get the hiccups.
