I am 35 weeks and thinking about what food etc t I can have when baby arrives, almost like I am planning my last meal on death row.... Grin it needs to be planned and perfect. I am thinking steak (still mooing) red wine, gin, runny cheese (all) a HOT bath when recovered from birth that I can move in, laying face down on the Bed, COFFEE (All of it) and comfortable clothes....

Anyone want to share things to look forward to?

Having a good nights sleep without waking up with restless legs all night xx

Nefelibata86 · 10/12/2019 23:35

Intrigued by the hot bath comments. Can anyone advise? I didn’t even hear about this being a thing until some way into my pregnancy. Initially dealt with by lukewarm baths and then hot baths but no longer than 10 mins. Is there a safe temp? What are the actual risks?

Amys136 · 10/12/2019 23:39

OP, even when breastfeeding you can drink as much alcohol and caffine as you want as long as you can still safely hold your baby, which is probably a good rule even if you aren’t breastfeeding. The amount that transfers into your milk is negligible

White Wine. Red Wine. Mulled wine. Baileys. Ameretto. Jack Daniels honey. Parma violet gin. Rhubarb gin. Pink gin. Grapefruit gin. All the gins. Malibu. Vodka and cranberry. Archers. Apricot brandy. Cherry brandy.

Sleeping on my front
Not walking up with numb and painful arms
Pornstar Martini
Beef tartare/a proper steak
Not getting stuck in sofa due to bit being able to get up easily without a hundred cushions propping me up
Bending over
Being able to just do/get on with things.

wondering7777 · 11/12/2019 06:13

Looking forward to seafood, lots of it, I know it's not actually on the banned list anymore but I've stayed away.

How come, out of interest? I’ve been eating quite a lot of seafood, including fish pie and fried squid the other day! I’m a bit worried now Confused

I’ve also been having hot baths, although I don’t stay in for more than 10 minutes usually.

The thing I’m most looking forward to is a glass of red wine (or two) with dinner. Can. Not. Wait!

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 11/12/2019 06:27

@SexlessBoulderBelly gets the prize for best name and answer in my book 😂

Baths, I was told not to have hot ones by mw. Someone advised me it was like baby being a tea bag. Essentially your core temp rises too much, so falls into same category as saunas and hot tubs. I really don't know how much science/truth there is in it though.

I should add I can't even get in the bath now, unless. I had a hoist Confused and would probably only fit half a piny of water in with me 🙄

Calves liver, all the forbidden cheeses, sleeping on my front or back, maybe some Prosecco. But mainly calves liver!

ohdearymemumof3 · 11/12/2019 06:56

Im due on the 21st december. Im hoping baby arrives before christmas so i can enjoy a nice glass of baileys😍

Liverbird77 · 11/12/2019 09:51

Dry gin martini with two olives, brie, pâté, red and white wine, steak tartare, deli meat, chocolate ( have chosen to lay off it)

Kezmum14 · 11/12/2019 10:42

Apart from alcohol I haven’t given anything up. Never have. I didn’t find out I was pregnant until I was 36 weeks with my son and he was fine and I’d been out drinking and on roller coasters etc and he was fine. If I fancy it I have it. Have done with all 4 previous pregnancies and will do with this one. BUT a couple of chilled proseccos will be nice in the summer. :)

Frazzlerock · 11/12/2019 10:48

My treat will be a real life baby to hold in my arms. After losing three over the past (nearly) four years, and TTC this time for over a year (currently pregnant at long last) that will be the most amazing treat I could ever possibly wish for.

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 11/12/2019 10:57

@Frazzlerock, that's fantastic news, congratulations on your pregnancy. I am very sorry for your losses. I hope you didnt find my thread insensitive. It was intended for a light hearted moan. Enjoy every second of your baby snuggles Smile best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy

No not offended at all @Justasconfusedwithnumber2 that's just what my treat would be Smile I realise not everyone sees it the way I do - I certainly didn't when I was having my DC 10 and 14 years ago.
Thank you for the congrats Grin

@Nefelibata86 I think the biggest risk is in early pregnancy. My OB told me I could have baths again. I haven't though as the heat would make me sick.

I'm 35+4.

I'm looking forward to
Food - all of it. HG pregnancy and I'm so fucking sick of 'safe foods' and bland crap. I want to indulge. I want creamy pasta, kfc, Indian curry, Xmas pudding, brandy butter, salami salami salami, cheese, lamb roast, burgers.
Things smelling good again.
Being able to turn in bed without my groin feeling like it's being ripped apart.
My bladder holding more than 5ml.
Being able to walk.
A non swollen vagina.
No heartburn.
Being able to bend down and not having to look around for something or someone to help me back up.
Using my bathroom mirror to put make up on. At the moment I can't get close enough to it and am using a compact.
Alcohol.

Extradotcom · 11/12/2019 11:43

Being able to zip up my coat and feel skinny
Same as you a nice rare steak with deep fried chips mushrooms and peppercorn sauce with a very very large gin and tonic
Waking up in the morning without feeling like my bladder is going to explode
Not having someone else’s arse lodged in my ribs 🤣

I’m only 16 weeks so I’ve still got a long way to go (and a while til I have to feel the arse in ribs thing) but this is my second so I remember it well and I’m already excited to be a normal human again!

tisonlymeagain · 11/12/2019 11:49

Just red wine and prosecco! Maybe brie and pate.

I've been eating brie and camembert cooked which has been yum, and I haven't given up steak at all, just having slightly more cooked than I would normally.

I also look forward to not getting up 8 times a night but I guess that will still be a long way off anyhow!

R2D2abc · 11/12/2019 12:42

@wondering7777 if you eat fried seafood it's fine, it needs to be cooked somehow in pregnancy.

Hot baths it's better to avoid as your baby is not able to regulate their body temperature and will heat inside , was told this by my physio as she said no hot water bottle in my front area( as I have SPD). Can also create blood cloths and also a risk for you later in pregnancy to faint. Also no sauna and yacutzy baths( I remember being at a spa and there was the sign and also writing of no pregnant ladies allowed due to health issues.

I wouldn't worry a lot if you did so but better to avoid.

shutupsteph · 11/12/2019 13:41

Sleeping on my front! Or even lying on my front 😍

SuddenArborealStop · 11/12/2019 13:48

I thought baths were OK as the water was slowly decreasing in temp whereas saunas etc stayed hot. I don't stop them anyway nor coffee or most of these things, I massively miss alcohol though

PooWillyBumBum · 11/12/2019 13:50

31 weeks here. Can't wait for...

Wine
Cocktails - esp. Old Fashioneds, or anything with gin
Missionary sex(!)
Sleeping on my front
Being able to go for a run/to a normal exercise class (didn't keep running up in 1st trimester so have had to drop it...have tried a little and soooo uncomfortable)
Having a whole day without feeling like I'm gasping for oxygen at any point
Being able to do a full wee!

ChikiTIKI · 11/12/2019 14:09

Smoked salmon, cured meats, port.. 😊

I LOVE doing the caring for my children. Feeding them, getting them dressed etc. That will be a lovely treat ❤️

Wubbawubba · 11/12/2019 14:35

39+6. Induction next week if baby doesn't make arrival on her own first.
I can't wait for mulled wine, whiskey, fancy cheeses, cured meats, blue rare steak, being able to lift things, cuddling OH without a bump in the way! Turning over in bed, actually getting a full bladder and having a nice satisfying wee rather than feeling I'm going to burst and letting out a trickle! I can't wait to meet my little one and have a complete family on Christmas day. 🙈

Nefelibata86 · 15/12/2019 16:15

Thanks all for responding re baths. Still unsure. Wondering if it will come up in the expecting better book to help make informed choice!
