Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

Now, this is ridiculous. 39+3 and still can't decide on a name! Humour me...

We are sorted if it's a girl but can't agree on a boy's name.

Nothing fancy or fashionable. Just a good, old fashioned, solid name that would stand him well if he turned out to be the next PM. (but not Gordon!)

Please bombard me with your suggestions

Don't worry, we thought we had it decided then she arrived and we just looked at her and said - oh no we can't call you that - she had no name for 3 days!

You will see him and something will just seem right!

We were going to call DC Charlie if it was a boy. But we're (apparently) having a girl so we're not calling her that now!

saltire · 20/08/2007 13:12

Ewan/Euan/Ewen
Alexander -runs the risk of being shortened to Sandy
Thomas - ditto Tommy!
Daniel (one of my faves)
Christopher
Cameron
Callum

Ceolas · 20/08/2007 13:14

Now lots of these names I like, but DH not keen on the shortened versions. i.e Thomas/Tom. Joseph/Joe. James/Jim. Don't laugh - we live in Scotland

I think it's inevitable that boys shorten each other's names to be cool

And I love Christopher^ but think it's very long for a child to learn to write? [hhm]

DS is James but we shorten it to Jay
(not Jim.... )

If that helps!

GooseyLoosey · 20/08/2007 13:16

Mark - know lots my age but no baby ones

saltire · 20/08/2007 13:17

Ceolas - I'm a bit like your DH, I didn't want names that could be shortened, so I chose short names. DS2 is a Ewan for example.

Why not pick Hamish - I'm sure it's Gaelic for James, then you don't get the whole Jim/Jimmy thing.

Baffy · 20/08/2007 13:18

And it doesn't matter if you pick a longer name that takes him a bit longer to learn to write (does it?!)

Surely that's not a reason to decide not to use the name...

Are you just looking for excuses?!

becklespeckle · 20/08/2007 13:20

Harry? George? Would struggle to shorten them and not only are they really cute little boy names but they would equally suit a PM!

saltire · 20/08/2007 13:23

Andrew?
Fergus?
Logan?
Grant? another of my faves
Ross? and another

fruitymum · 20/08/2007 13:30

Scott
Sean
Ryan

Ceolas · 20/08/2007 13:31

the other problem is that DH is a teacher and I was too. Nearly every name has links to someone you have taught!

junkinmytrunk · 20/08/2007 13:44
