Hi everyone

I am around 17 weeks with my first baby and I haven’t felt any movement. Well, I don’t think I have! Deffo nothing that has made me think ‘that was deffo the baby and not just hunger, gas, round ligament pain, etc’

My midwife asked me at my appointment if I had felt movement and when I said no she said this was normal, but why ask if you wouldn’t expect me to?! She wrote in my notes ‘no fetal movement’ which has worried me even more

I have gone through a missed miscarriage before and it was awful - I am terrified of having another at this later stage.

When did all you lovely ladies feel movement for the first time? How did you know it was the baby? Was it regular? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you x

Btw round here at 16 weeks they do listen out for their heartbeat which I found massively reassuring!

I was going on 21 weeks. Please try not to worry Smile it's harder to determine when it's your first.
The first movement I knew for sure felt like a bubble being popped, it was followed by a sensation that I'd already had within that week (down very low) which I still get (cervix being kicked)
Also if you get any feelings that are similar to mild electric shocks, that's the baby! I had some of those maybe a week prior to feeling the proper movement. No idea at the time it was the baby.

It can feel like gas. If you drink something cold and concentrate you might feel somethjng

For my son I felt/recognised movement for the first time at the 20 week scan. I think it's because I could see ds move on the screen at the same time I felt what I previously assumed to be gas. My midwife did tell me it's normal not to feel movement with a first pregnancy until much later on. I hope that puts your mind at ease Smile

I didn't get any movement until around 21 or weeks I believe....
With your first baby it could take 24 weeks for you to feel anything.

I'm 21 weeks with an anterior placenta and felt nothing yet. I do have other issues that mean I get cramping and gas so don't know if I've just missed any flutters
