Just curious! My friend tried to explain some thing she had to help stimulate the baby's brain cells - it was a strap on thing and had a new noise for each week from week 20, I got very confused! I have bought a Mexican Boula to soothe the baby but just wondered what else people have tried if anything

I taught my daughter to fear men in white coats while in utero. She'd make for my ribcage while I attempted to hide behind my ginormous birth bag. Tis a skill we both perfected by the tenth month of pregnancy.

Am ROFLing at the thought of people buying 'a noise a week' devices. Although DD does react rather strangely to hearing the Archers theme music even now!

Oh dear Mrs...

My DC do talk to LO through my tummy a lot... DS was telling him how to spell hello the other day...

However I just feel plain daft talking to my stomach. I do stoke my tum when a foot comes up or something... apparently babies can feel things like that in utero...

My DC listened to that CD from pampers.. it was hysterical! All those plummy actors voices... as if that is a normal family having breakfast anywhere in the uk. This LO has just been listening to DD eating jelly straight out of the packet for breakfast.

I have started pre-natal yoga which I think is helping me to relax and tune in to baby. Yoga teacher gets us to 'visualise' baby inside us etc... which is all a bit of a giggle, but potentially quite enjoyable.

Main thing to say is DONT worry about it. (However I reckon my DS is a bit of a loon because I had quite a stressful time whe PG with him... a long story....)

Honeyapple I can empathise with you at yoga, I got asked to leave Tai Chi a few years back because I got the giggles so often [bluch]

First time I did the music through the bump thing your friend does, classical music, talking, the works. This time have done nothing except the lying on the sofa bit! I can almost feel the second child recriminations. Guilt! Guilt!

I am currently teaching my baby that you MUST have salt and vinegar on your chips. I am also teaching her how to be a great DJ, like her mum, and have a fab taste in music.

maxbear · 11/08/2007 21:23

dd - listened to same song every evening to encourage brain cells to develop.
ds - you have to be kidding if I had spare time it was spent sleeping.

second children everywhere are underdeveloped and stupid, of course I am a first child and I really hope my sister is on tonight

DH is terrified that LO will grow up to be a chav. (I have no idea why really, as neither of us are at all chav-like) We're getting around this by playing lots of heavy metal quite loud when in the car

So far LO seems to like Linkin Park and Korn, but is even fonder of the Beautiful South.

RGPargy · 13/08/2007 12:33

Naetha - sorry but it makes no difference what you play them. My DS was played Depeche Mode, hardcore and trance and STILL turned out to be a chav. Not as bad as some chavs, granted, but he's certainly picked it up from somewhere. It definitely wasn't me!!

My DP keeps singing Arctic Monkeys songs at my stomach, I am praying to god that LO's ears are not developed enough to be able to hear him yet!

I saw a frightening programme on the telly with this woman who read an organic chemistry book to her bump, then continued this hot-housing after birth. Kid is scientifically advanced, but insane and a social misfit.
