Do any of these symptoms suggest twins?

Twins run in my side of the family, and my pregnancy this time feels different to last time. I know that's often the case but I was wondering if any of the symptoms might suggest twins?

My initial pregnancy test said I was more than five weeks pregnant, but that would have been impossible, and it had to be less.
I feel nauseous all day every day, unless I'm sleeping, but no physical sickness.
I can only manage a few mouthfuls of a meal before feeling stuffed. I was used to that at the end of pregnancy last time, but not so early on.
I need to pee alllll the time.
My tummy is already really firm and round feeling at the top.

Interested to hear views!

I was definitely more nauseous and tired when pregnant with twins. I out it down to the fact I was running round d after a 2 year old and couldn't rest as much as first time round. When I had my scan it all made sense!

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/09/2019 20:15

I was so nauseous I had an early scan to check for twins, nope just one. I'd never heard of this before and it was baby 4.

Ffsnosexallowed · 06/09/2019 20:16

They are pregnancy symptoms, not symptoms of twins....

MadHouseUpNorth · 06/09/2019 20:19

Sound similar to my twin pregnancy. Test taken early showed positive straight away, felt really nauseous to the point that I remember dreading going out for dinner. The smell food was too much.

Strangerthanstrange · 06/09/2019 20:19

I had stronger pregnancy symptoms and an earlier positive test with my singleton than my twins. Maybe to do with carrying boys/girls for me at least.

mamamedic · 06/09/2019 20:20

The OP knows the symptoms of pregnancy; she's already a mother. She's asking about symptoms that might be specific to twin pregnancies.
My 2nd pregnancy was twins. I was much sicker. It was explained that there was twice the hormones going round my system. That might also explain your strange early pregnancy test result.
Keep us posted!

I had really bad nausea (not actual sickness) up until about 13 weeks, even had to go have fluids at the hospital at one point.

I'm 23 weeks and still can only manage a few mouthfuls of a meals before feeling stuffed, snacks are my best friend!
I also nap pretty much everyday.

The peeing I'm afraid is just going to get worse, I got up four times last night!

Multiplies run in my family and DH is a twin, only one baby in there though.

Best of luck for your scan!!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 06/09/2019 20:21

I had less nausea and tiredness with mine than with singleton DD1. Go figure!

Although a good strong line on tests from the off with the twins.

DaisyMay25 · 06/09/2019 20:22

Are you hoping for twins OP??

Waffleswaffles · 06/09/2019 20:23

Not really, other than feeling big early, but it's not your first pregnancy so you are bound to feel big earlier. Who in your family has twins and what type of twins are rhey?

TerribleCustomerCervix · 06/09/2019 20:26

I had that bloated and full feeling with my second pregnancy- I was relieved to find out it was only a singleton, and part of the reason that I booked an early scan was to confirm there was only one in there!

I’m a non-identical twin and have something like a 1/7 chance of having them myself.

whenweallfallasleep · 06/09/2019 20:34

Interesting!

No, not hoping for twins, definitely not!

My mum is a twin, my dad has twin siblings, my cousins are twins, my grandad is a twin. Nothing for a while though Smile

@whenweallfallasleep oh wow! Quite a lot! Any twins on partners side?

Sleepthiefsmum18 · 06/09/2019 20:42

I had really strong positive early on with my twin pregnancy and felt very nauseous early (twin 2 stopped developing before 12 week scan though so only ended up being 1 baby)

kimlo · 06/09/2019 20:48

what sort of twins are in your family?

hlr1987 · 06/09/2019 20:48

I'm always surprised that more people don't know that its only really non-identical twins that are hereditary, and even then only on the maternal side. So you mum, maybe has a bearing but your dad not! It's too do with multiple eggs being released at ovulation (which can be inherited). Your partner having twins in his family wouldn't mean much, it can't make a difference to how many eggs you release at ovulation.

thetwinkles · 06/09/2019 20:48

I'm 26 weeks now with twins. My test result was normal not overly strong. But then things escalated pretty quickly and as you describe. Absolute exhaustion. Nausea but no sickness. Eating something small made me feel so awful the only way I could cope was to lay down. Compared to previous pregnancies it was very different so I wasn't at all surprised when they found twins at my first scan!

Dauphinois · 06/09/2019 21:29

It's hard to know. My early pregnancy with twins felt no different to my singletons. By about 20 weeks I certainly felt the difference though.

TwinPair · 06/09/2019 23:35

The mother of the twins inherits the gene from her father, not her mother.
I showed really early (8 weeks - I had a bump and my clothes didn't fit) with DTs. I felt good but I was very tired in the afternoons. I was very ill when I had my singleton pregnancies. Keep us posted @whenweallfallasleep.

Apparently I'm wrong about it being just the maternal side- it's both, sorry! I had to look this up again since you got me curious op.

ChChChChangez · 07/09/2019 00:26

Statistically unlikely even with family history.

Africa2go · 07/09/2019 00:43

I've had non-ID twins and then a singleton. I'd say the strong +ve could be a sign but your stronger symptoms may just be down to it not being your first pregnancy. I know i was sicker / more tired / bigger for single baby than i was for the twins.

MrsEG · 07/09/2019 05:39

I am currently expecting DCDA twins. I was never sick at all, but felt nauseous. I was also the complete opposite with food- I was absolutely ravenous from 6-12 weeks, midwife said it was my body needing the extra energy to grow two.
The biggest giveaway though is I had a noticeable bump at 9 weeks and was in maternity jeans and leggings at 10 weeks. I’m 16 weeks now with a 6-month bump!
There really is no way to know for sure without a scan though, so good luck in a few weeks.

Summer2019NewMummy · 07/09/2019 06:45

My mum has twins, no sickness. No symptoms. No difference to her other two pregnancy's
