I'm sure I read somewhere that you aren't supposed to (along with everything else!!) however, I looked online and most other websites recommended it as a healthy option. Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,

Gillian.

yes you can
it hasn't got anything counter-indicated in

this is a pretty good no-fuss, no-hysteria guide.

chocchipmuffin · 06/08/2007 13:43

Of course you can!

It's a standing joke in this house that it is in EVERY SINGLE list of "healthy snacks" in any pregancy handbook!

Enjoy!

Bluestocking · 06/08/2007 13:43

I ate it throughout with no ill-effects!

DANCESwithDumbledore · 06/08/2007 13:43

Why on earth not? I ate it, two dc later we seem to have all survived...I was careful about pate and that sort of thing though.

chocchipmuffin · 06/08/2007 13:44

Ds has eaten it (pretty regularly) since he was 1yo too.

DANCESwithDumbledore · 06/08/2007 13:45

Tick Tock Mrs B...aw go on...raspberry leaf doesn't taste that bad...or jasmine

MrsBadger · 06/08/2007 13:46

[drinks chocolate milk and ignores Dances]

chocchipmuffin · 06/08/2007 13:47

Are you due Mrs B?

Pineapple curry time?!

SweetyDarling · 06/08/2007 13:48

That's a good guide MrsB. I work in the fine fod industry and met so many pregnant women who thought that brie etc was fine so long as it was pasturised. This makes it nice and simple.
Can't say I've been 100% obedient though!

MrsBadger · 06/08/2007 13:50

two weeks to go - am enjoying mat leave (and discovering FaceBook) and am in NO RUSH

so away with your raspberry leaves and your pineapple curries!

Trinityrhino · 06/08/2007 13:50

I think the op may be thinking of taramasalata which is cod roe.

houmus is chick pea so is fine

MrsBadger · 06/08/2007 13:51

er, cod roe is fine too

chocchipmuffin · 06/08/2007 13:53

Oh no, not time to rush yet! Good luck for when it happens!

Trinityrhino · 06/08/2007 13:54

is it mrsbadger?
well I'm off to go and smack the hv that told me I couldn't eat it when pg then cause I craved it like mad

MrsBadger · 06/08/2007 13:55

yep, and I'll be right behind you, Trinity
(bloody HVs )

Trinityrhino · 06/08/2007 13:56
DANCESwithDumbledore · 06/08/2007 14:07

sob

MrsBadger · 06/08/2007 14:11

[pats Dances reassuringly]
there there
it's me who's meant to be the hormonal one, you know

DANCESwithDumbledore · 06/08/2007 14:12
Hmm
SweetyDarling · 06/08/2007 15:03

Cod roe is smoked not cooked.

MrsBadger · 06/08/2007 15:06

doesn't mean it's not safe

bambi06 · 06/08/2007 15:19

houmous is actually very good for you , especially as it can help stop leg cramps as its high in calcium..higher than dairy

PinkElephant · 06/08/2007 15:27

Gawd I hope so - I've been hoofing into hummous during my pregnancy!! Can't see how chickpeas and garlic can affect the baby, but am sure it is the culprit to my bad wind . Now does anyone know if we pregnant ladies can eat philadelphia spread, I read somewhere that as it was a processed sandwich spread we can - does anyone know?

beansprout · 06/08/2007 15:29

Yep, no problem.

missbumpy · 06/08/2007 15:33

bambi06, is that true that houmous is higher than calcium than dairy? That's really interesting. I don't eat a lot of dairy and I really like houmous so that's good to know.

Pink Elephant, you can definitely eat philedelphia.
