This maybe a stupid question but I've just done a pregnancy test and its positive before I tell DH could anyway tell me if the result could be false as dd is 7mths and i'm still bf (only about 2 times a day now) Thanks (in advance!)

It's unlikely to be false. Even if you are breast feeding you can still get pregnant if you are not using contraception. My best friend was pregnant 12 weeks after giving birth to her first child.

Congratulations!

leese · 22/08/2002 19:29

ames - very unlikely to be false - so much so, that if you tell the GP you've done a positive home pregnancy test, he won't want to repeat it - thats good enough. Home pregnancy tests can be known for being unreliable at times (not often), but the vast majority of these will be false negative results - very difficult to create a false positive result. Good luck!

Just out of curiosity - what made you take the test? Feeling pregnant?

aloha · 22/08/2002 19:56

You're pregnant. Congratulations!

Joe1 · 22/08/2002 20:09

Lady across the road fell prenant when her little girl was 5 months. Congratulations and good luck.

batey · 22/08/2002 20:20

Congratulations! Well it is "said" under 2 is a good age gap. Sobernow would be a good one to get in touch with. How was your first pregnancy?

MABS · 22/08/2002 20:42

Very many congratulations, the tests are rarely wrong,Do you feel ok, how far do you think you might be ? (I'm very impressed that you're having sex within six months of a baby- I won't let my dh read this )

WideWebWitch · 22/08/2002 20:49

Ames, I hope DH took the news well. Look after yourself and congratulations.

mears · 22/08/2002 21:25

The answer as everyone else has said is likely to be YES. I got pregnant with no.3 whilst B/F no.2 when he was 7 months. Great age gap

Congratulations, Ames! My mum's aunt had two babies within less than 11mths . Well, it was wartime, apparently!!

sister · 23/08/2002 09:09

ames, my ds was seven months old when I found out i was unexpectedly pregnant with dd. At the time I really worried how I was going to cope but it turned out to be brilliant. They are really good friends and play together really well- most of the time!

Jendy · 23/08/2002 11:23

Well done both of you, very impressive work

ames · 23/08/2002 20:36

Thanks to everyone for all the congratulations. Gonna go and read the thread on double buggy's now (beginning to regret my cheeky post about not needing one because she'd never get to leave the house!!) Oh and I meant noodles but hey i'm pregnant (it's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) Just one more thing (for now) to sister and all those who had similar gaps between 1 and 2 - did you feel that you missed out on spending time with your 1st one because number 2 was there so soon? Bayleaf - I hadnt actually got off the wagon - was planning to get really drunk this week on holiday, oh well. And for anyone interested I think I'm about 8 weeks.
