This maybe a stupid question but I've just done a pregnancy test and its positive before I tell DH could anyway tell me if the result could be false as dd is 7mths and i'm still bf (only about 2 times a day now) Thanks (in advance!)

I should stop reading these threads. I end up either laughing out loud (dh thinks I'm mad), or sitting with a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat (see the 'proud' thread).

Congratulations Ames - keep us up to date with all the news on scans etc. I'm jealous as my baby hormones are getting rampant now that ds is 13 months, and memories of the birth and pregnancy are fading!

jemw · 23/08/2002 22:55

Congratulations Ames,

lilibet · 23/08/2002 23:38

Congrats. Keep us posted about how you are feeling. xzx (oops! obviosly sleepy!)

Congrats Ames, hope you're feeling well. If it's any comfort my immediate thoughts on finding out I was pregnant (just a few weeks ago) is wanting to tell my partner straight away but I was visiting my parents and couldn't tell him for 3 days as didn't want to do it over the phone and almost immediately I felt immensely sad for my little girl, she wouldn't have Mummy's complete and utter attention, and there will be a 2 year and 9 month gap!!! It's always a big change for them but yours will be so close together that they should be such good friends. I was only 5 months old when my mother conceived my brother (planned!!) and we are very close, I have tremendous feelings for him and always hope he's happy in life even though we live hundreds of miles apart. Good luck with the pregnancy.

Dear Ames

congratulations and good luck, I hope your number 1 is a good baby. I'm feeling very broody myself (especially since I ahce 4 friends who are expecting now), but can't bring myself to make up my mind (dd's 15 months and is HIGH MAINTENANCE) and dh does even want to talk about it until dd is at uni!!!!!

(If only the pill wasn't so reliable...)

lexy · 28/08/2002 12:04

Ames, congratulations.

My son & daughter are 12 months and 12 days apart
(nov 1999 & dec 2000).

Its' very hard work and the tiredness during pregnancy with a young baby is hard to cope with, but they are incredibly close and my daughter walked at 9 months as she was in such a hurry to be like her brother!.

Good luck.

Bozza · 28/08/2002 12:18

Lol Chiara71 I'm in just the same position. DS is 18 months and would like to but Dh not so keen.

pupuce · 28/08/2002 14:00

Ames - my Gap is 20 months between both kids...I think baby 2 suffers more than baby 1 from the (her) arrival... A toddler is high maintenance - not a baby ! You'll be surprise how little time you spend with your 2nd one compare to how much time with your first !!!!

Azzie · 28/08/2002 14:05

I agree, Pupuce - I found it took me ages before I felt that I had got to know dd (2nd baby). Even now that she's nearly 3 I still don't feel as though I know her as well as I have always known her older brother, because I've never had the time to concentrate on her the way I did on him. I'm quite looking forward to him starting school so that she and I will get a chance to spend some one-to-one time together.

One thing about small gaps is that no. 1 quickly forgets there was ever a time when they were an 'only'. My gap was 25 months (not particularly small) but ds remembers dd as always having been there.

Bozza · 28/08/2002 14:18

I have a friend with a 19 month old and a 3 month old and I'm amazed at how easy the baby seems in comparison with the toddler. It makes me wonder what I made all the fuss about.

Azzie · 28/08/2002 14:25

I couldn't believe how easy a baby was after living with a toddler .
