Hi all, so i am just wondering what the general consesus is with sharing nighttime feeds once fiance goea back to work ? From talking to my friends it seems that there is a 50/50 split. Some feel daddy should still get up and share the feeds as u will have the baby all day, where others feel as they wouldnt want daddy being tired in work they were happy to do the feeds. What do you think ? Thanks

Hi OP!

Personally, at the moment I am of the opinion that when OH goes back to work, I will move into spare room with baby until we have established more of a routine as OH works as a Lorry Driver so needs to be on the ball with working long days etc. He will probably do the dream feed before we go to bed but I will then do any other feeds during the night. We live in a three-storey house so I will move onto the first floor with baby and OH will stay on the top floor where our bedroom is. hopefully then he won't be disturbed.

However, at weekends he will get up in the night and help with feeds to give me a break at night. I am planning on formula feeding so the feeding can be shared between us both.

SAYING THAT.... baby isn't here yet and we have no idea what it will be like as we are first time parents - so our plan could completely go out the window! We just don't know.

I think it is totally dependant on each individual's circumstance and what works best for you as a family :) x

I do all the night-time get ups because of him being at work.
That said, he doesn't wake up anyway and I do!
Baby is also EBF. I take her into the other room to feed and settle then go back into our bedroom when she's settled.

I can also nap in the day when she does if I NEED to, although most days I really struggle to nap.

I do all night feeds while on maternity leave.
DH shared them during his paternity leave and on weekends I do 'through the night' and DH gets up with baby when he wants to be up - usually 5am so I get a longer sleep
I dont feel it is fair that DH does equal night feeds while I am off work and he is working 60 hours a week

I’ve always breastfed my DC so did 100% of night feeds and day feeds. I chose to co-sleep which helped.
