@Em39ma oh wow that sounds fun. My dog likes to roll randomly but I presume it's in cat wee as there's just a smell and no visible stains.

@SRK16 def keep an eye on the swelling. Swelling is really common and often nothing to worry about, but sudden swelling can be a sign of pre eclampsia.
I took my rings off months ago when it was warm. I was worried I'd swell in the heat and they'd get so tight I'd have to get them cut off so I decided to "get out in front of it" haha.

@cattaxi ah a nap, that's sounds glorious. I'm hoping to enjoy some of those this week as I am now officially finished at work until Sept 2020!

@HJWT2 hope your dd had a lovely birthday. I'm lucky that dds is at Xmas so we'll be settled by the time I have to deal with it. ahh braxton hicks. I'm getting them a lot at the moment. And baby is constantly moving. I'm not convinced that it's settled in head down as the movement seems so much that its got to be flipping and twisting in there. Wish I could tell myself what position it was in.

Ive looked into booking a cleaner and am waiting for them to get back to me, just to do a one off clean of the house (like a 6 hr job to do bathrooms, kitchens, hoover, mop and get rid of the cobwebs that dh hasn't hoovered away yet after weeks and weeks)
I feel a bit lazy tbh getting someone in, but if I do it, my hips are going to be in agony and then I'll sleep even less. Plus loads of people have cleaners every week and we don't. I've just not been able to keep up with it all and dh either won't do it well or doesn't want to and he's got a lot of other things I need him to help with like food shopping etc so don't want to tire him out when he still works in the week. He deserves a break too before the onslaught.
Once I hit 37 weeks I might risk some bits as the day before I started labour last time I was on my hands and knees washing the kitchen floor with my mum.
I think she wants to come up and clean this time too, but shes been really unwell and the hospital have been doing scans to try and find out what is wrong, but can't find anything yet. I'm a bit worried that it's something really bad and they are going to find it too late if I'm honest, but I'm trying to be positive about it.
Ive told them not to come anyway as its a 3 hour journey for them to visit and I don't want them coming to help clean, to then go home and then come back a few weeks later to visit when baby arrives.

I've also done my shopping list for this week which contains a lot of mince and chicken. I'm going to do cottage pie, chicken pie, lasagne and sausage stew for teas this week and plan to make extras for the freezer ready so we at least have a few days of food.
So that'll be what I'll be spending my first week of maternity leave doing, batch cooking and washing up afterwards!

@frizzy1986 getting someone in for a one of clean sounds good, it’s hard to do it properly once bump is big particularly if you’re in pain.

My hands have been swelling overnight for the last couple of weeks, but worse in the last two days which is odd given it’s cold. My BP has been fine but not been done in the last 2 weeks, urine sample had no protein. Am seeing consultant on Monday so will ask then, hopefully it’s all okay. Rings are now off for the rest of pregnancy!

cattaxi · 07/09/2019 11:28

Oh good @Em39ma! We used to live in the middle of a moor & our old dog would constantly run off & come back covered in fox poo. She would be so pleased with herself - like it was the best perfume ever! So grim! The special shampoo was great. But if you ever get caught out again, ketchup is good at neutralising the smell.

I hope your dd had a lovely birthday @HJWT2. My BH are pretty strong now too. Not painful. But uncomfortable enough to stop me in my tracks sometimes.

@Frizzy1986 I’m all about those naps these days! Only 3 more working days until they will become daily 🙂
Your cleaner idea sounds ace! I’m also going to do some batch cooking when I finish work. It will be great to have some healthy meals ready for post c-section. I was thinking of chopping up & freezing some soup mixes for easy lunches as well as some bolognaise etc for meals.

We went out last night to a wedding reception. It was really lovely. We haven’t been on an evening out since Christmas - so it was quite novel for dh and I! Finding something to wear was a total nightmare. We only stayed until 10:30, but I’m totally wiped out this morning & have a splitting headache! I’m sure I wouldn’t have felt this bad if I wasn’t pregnant and able to have some gins! Thank god it’s the weekend. Currently snuggled up with ds watching Thomas the tank - it’s not helping my headache!

Em39ma · 07/09/2019 18:08

We have had a better day with the dog. Apparently was very good, doesn’t like it when daddy keeps on the lead, so may have learnt her lesson. But doubt it, she is a Labrador.
Went for our hospital tour today. Was good, at least we know where we will be now. Midwife again on Thursday, so as I will be off her scale I will at the hospital on friday.
Baby keeps doing the this weird move, only way to describe it, it’s like she is twerking in there. Maybe a have a little booty shaker.

umck2014 · 07/09/2019 18:56

Missed a lot of the chat last few days - hope you all ladies are feeling good.

Had my 36 week home visit yesterday. Think I’ll get my home birth. Excited and a bit nervous at the same time. Next thing is to book a birth pool!

Feeling a very tired recently. Even a weekly grocery shopping trip can knock me out. Baby is carrying quite low with head down according to the MWs... I hope he won’t make an entrance toooo early! Shock

Do you guys get a sharp shooting pain in the vajayjay every now and then? I do and it’s uncomfortable!!

YorkshireIndie · 07/09/2019 19:01

@umck2014 yes to the shooting pains!

@Em39ma movement does feel different. It feels stronger and I can see my stomach move when the baby is on the move

newbabyyy2019 · 07/09/2019 19:27

@umck2014 I've been getting the random shooting pains too! At my scan the other day the midwife said my babies head is low too! I've been getting all sorts of weird pains. From cramps, back ache, shooting pains and aching on my inner thighs. All normal though from what I've read online and nothing's been too painful for me to worry too much

cattaxi · 07/09/2019 20:44

I think nesting has arrived for me! Spent the whole day cleaning & sorting. Absolutely shattered now & getting loads of Braxton hicks. They always come on when i’ve overdone it. Or when I’m desperate for a pee!

@Em39ma when I was pregnant with ds, he used to twerk his little behind all the time! A bit uncomfortable, but very sweet.
Yay for a well behaved dog!

@umck2014 I don’t get shooting pains, but the whole area generally feels like someone has kicked it hard!

Frizzy1986 · 07/09/2019 21:02

@umck2014 no shooting pains here but considering the area has been as swollen as a balloon for weeks I might not feel them!!
Jealous of your home birth. I was thinking about one but was advised against it in the end due to the speed of last time, which can increase the risk of bleeding, so it's birth centre for me.

I ended up doing some cleaning today. I regret it now as lots of aches, cramps and bh happening as well as acid reflux. Nothing painful but annoying. I did manage to have a quick bath and get out by myself which is a miracle.
I was washing up after tea (and the 3 lasagnes I made for the freezer) and started to clean around the sink. It looked so nice and seeing it made me feel good and that then led to me doing more. Cue hoovering the house and all the cobwebs around the ceilings (which dh was supposed to do weeks ago), cleaning the bathrooms and putting washing on to dry.
I'm sitting down now while dh puts dd to bed after she stayed up late to watch strictly.
I'm going to go swimming with her in the morning. I was hoping dh would come so I could have a swim while he watched her (she's still learning) but he doesn't fancy it so I'll just spend the time floating a bit while I watch her sink and stand up in a cycle.

umck2014 · 07/09/2019 23:17

@newbabyyy2019@Frizzy1986 They are so uncomfortable aren’t they. I always get a shock when I have them as I just freeze and can’t move. Funny at the start but not so much now. Think it’s normal and read somewhere that it doesn’t mean anything - as in there’s no correlation that Baby will come early.

We’re getting there now. Hang in there!!

Em39ma · 08/09/2019 06:16

My gosh my hips and legs are killing me. Nothing is stopping this pain now. Pillows make it worse, starting to think of ways I can sleep sat up.
I’m not getting the fanny daggers, but get a feeling there squeezing down there. It’s a bit weird, not sure how to explain it.

HJWT · 08/09/2019 09:19

Iv been hoping baby will come early but after DD's birthday I realised I need at least 4 weeks between their birthdays 😂😂😂

Have another scan Thursday! I am guessing they are going to estimate him 6LB 10+ which is hilarious since he should only be 5 🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
umck2014 · 08/09/2019 09:55

@HJWT2 haha my DD1 and DH share the same birthday (she actually was born on due date). This baby is due less than a week away from their birthdays 😂😂 I’m hoping it won’t be too far off so I will only need to organise one big annual birthday party for all of them and that’s me done! 😂

YorkshireIndie · 08/09/2019 10:22

@umck2014 it would save a lot of time and money. I know a family where there is 2 days between the siblings and they often have a collective party.

Does anyone else find they wake up at exactly the same time for a wee? I woke up at 3.30 and then at 5. Baby was have a party so got up at 6 and have done all of the ironing, emptied and put the washing machine on to wash itself, put a load of washing on and prepared the vegetables for today. Went back to bed at 9 for a nap. Oh and I packed two boxes in preparation for moving

umck2014 · 08/09/2019 13:44

@YorkshireIndie that sounds brilliant. I just need to get 3 cakes for their birthday and that’s it haha.

I don’t remember what time I get up for wee. I just know I’m up 3 times a night and that’s it. Very annoying!

Just finished lunch after doing our weekly big food shop. I’m now knackered Shock Ready for a snooze zZzzzz

Em39ma · 08/09/2019 14:32

I would sell my soul to only get up 3 times. Up every hour, used to go twice a night before pregnant. I think I must have a very tiny bladder.

secretlyhermione · 08/09/2019 14:39

Hello everyone! I hear all of you on the getting up during the night, for me it's at least 2-3 times since I found out I'm pregnant. I've had a really good weekend with the in-laws here. They are extremely generous and bought so much stuff fof the baby (first grandchild so they are going all out!!) I'm feeling less stressed as we sorted out the baby part of the hospital bag with my mother in law so just need to pack it, get diapers and then pack my stuff as well. But I feel like a lot has been sorted which helps alleviate stress! I live in a country where the culture is very much that the mom comes to help when the baby is born so my mother in law is coming and will help out. I've kind of accepted it as it's first baby and will be super helpful to have her help clean and cook us meals but I guess I'm a little worried about how potentially invasive she'll get... We live in a one bed (currently looking for a bigger house) so she'll be getting a hotel but already this weekend she's been a tad opinionated about things and I've had to hold my ground (even on silly things like scratch mittens. My friend lent them to me so I might as well bring them to the hospital and she kept insisting that I don't need them!!) So I'm just wondering if any of you ladies has experience with in laws staying over at birth of the babt and how to ensure its a smooth transition and doesn't become even more overwhelming then it already is. Any thoughts and experiences appreciated!!

SRK16 · 08/09/2019 15:07

@HJWT2 my baby is over 98th percentile according to scans - I can’t imagine it will come ou any less than 9lbs. I can feel that it’s huge and still have a few weeks!

I’m weeing at least every 2 hours at night, was up 5 times last night not including having to wake up because of sore hips. Good preparation I’m sure but my god I miss having a deep sleep through the night. Having very weird anxiety dreams as well.

Still nesting, feeling slowly more prepared. However am in much more discomfort than I expected and realising I won’t be able to do all the lovely things I planned for mat leave (thought I would spend days wandering round London galleries etc, not likely now!). Even meeting with friends in the evenings feels too much as no one lives nearby and it’s at least an hour of travel. Thinking maybe I’ll do some daytime cinema instead :)

AngeIoMysterioso · 08/09/2019 15:27

Spent bloody ages today cooking a lovely Sunday lunch for myself, DH and PILs (first time I’ve cooked for them) and I was so uncomfortable between the BH, kicks and trapped wind (and being constipated probably isn’t helping) that I managed about half my food before giving up and coming up to the bedroom to curl up in a ball. Sad

Frizzy1986 · 08/09/2019 16:22

@srk16 I'm planning some cinema time, although I'm not sure what will be on that I fancy watching.

I slept horrifically last night. I swear I was up every hour and it wasn't to wee it was my hips causing utter agony. I try to roll over when it hurts a lot but there's not space for me to roll so I have to lift myself and roll on the spot which is rather painful.

I took dd swimming this morning as its really nice in the water. It takes the weight off my body and my hips tend to feel a lot better afterward. Reminds me why I'm planning a water birth! Might go again on my own later in the week.

First day of leave tomorrow but I've got the mechanic coming to take a look at my car. Hoping it's not too expensive!
Planning to have some naps and need to think of things I can do that won't aggravate my hips.

I just need to make it past tomorrow and then I'm 37 weeks on Tuesday so am fine for baby to come any time after that.

Em39ma · 08/09/2019 17:01

@Frizzy1986
It’s my hip that wakes me up every hour. Then I have to pee because I’ve moved and she has woken up.
First time today, my hip is hurting when standing to do lunch.

YorkshireIndie · 08/09/2019 17:11

@Em39ma think baby just likes the feeling of the bladder 😂 Suddenly needed a wee and it was so painful as the baby started to move on it

@secretlyhermione Really pleased you get on with your MIL. I could honestly say I could not do that (although I am moving in with my parents this month...)

My family has descended and packing like crazy

Em39ma · 08/09/2019 18:05

@secretlyhermione I couldn’t live with my MIL, I don’t know them that well and both like to spend there life putting people down.
We will be staying with my parents once she is here. They only live 10 minutes away, but if I’m not up to doing anything, DM will show DH.
My DH gets on better with my parents than his own.
We still haven’t told his parents that we will be at mine. Will get DH to tell them once she’s here and if they want to come over will have to come to my parents house.

SRK16 · 08/09/2019 18:21

I was all happy about having done some DIY when baby decided to completely shift positions to lie transverse across my stomach, whilst wedging something hard against my bum. I felt like it was literally trying to come out of my bumhole. So painful I couldn’t move and just stood bent over crying until my husband came in and helped me lie down- baby moved eventually but jeeeeeesus that was unpleasant and I hope it doesn’t happen again!

secretlyhermione · 08/09/2019 18:33

@YorkshireIndie Yes, I do get on with her but she lives in a different city (same country) so I usually see her 3-4x a year and for shorter periods of time. She is very sweet and loves to help out but she can be a little invasive so am just worried it will get too much... I need to get a bit better at vocalizing my thoughts so that she doesn't completely take over. We sorted the clothes for the hospital bag this weekend and she was adamant that baby should wear any short sleeve rompers (even under the full long suit) as it will be too cold... @Em39ma yeah I understand that ;) For me it would probably be harder to live with my mum as she's quite conservative and less likely to want to help out than my MIL. Her and my dad live in another country and even though I know she's very excited to meet baby (also first grandchild for her) she's not the type that would want to be around the baby all the time, and I think would feel resentful feeling like she had to do things around the house, whereas my MIL loves cleaning, cooking and just taking care of everyone so can't really ask for much more. Just need to be careful that MIL doesn't become too invasive (I don't even know how long she is coming up for, she just say as long as you need me, I'd prefer to have a timeline!!)
