Reduced fetal movement - 37+6 - scan okay

Mrbumpoid · 08/07/2019 19:37

I am 37 + 6 weeks and baby has always been very very active. Friday I had hardly any movements. Saturday went to hospital, was strapped up and they said fine (baby moved loads when strapped up) but then hardly anything again after. The next day was the same so went back Sunday night. Was kept in overnight and monitored. They were happy and also with the scan.

Dr then said we will induce at 39 weeks bc of the RFM. Consultant changed it to 40 weeks.

I have come home and I’m still not feeling anywhere near what is the norm. They said in this case I need to go back in and back and back.

I don't feel I can go back in every day for the next two weeks. I can't sleep and am very stressed. They said baby is fine atm
but to go in any time there is reduced movement - well there is reduced movement all of the time?!

If you're worried please do continue to go back. I had reduced movements at 31 weeks, I ummed and aahed about going in and eventually did because I knew I would worry if I didn't. DS was delivered by section an hour after being hooked up. Can you talk to your community midwife and see if she can advocate for you?

Roughday · 08/07/2019 19:41

Please go in , every time !!

It’s better to be safe then sorry and it will only be for a couple weeks xx

endofthelinefinally · 08/07/2019 19:42

Keep going back.
The safety of your baby is paramount.

RandomMess · 08/07/2019 19:42

Please keep going back, it's now presenting as "not just a couple of quiet days" things can change quickly. One day scan is fine the next day not!

ReganSomerset · 08/07/2019 19:43

Keep going back OP. Did you have an umbilical doppler done?

LashesZ · 08/07/2019 19:52

Keep going back. The feeling of harassing people is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Hope all is well x

Prettylittlebumblebee · 08/07/2019 19:55

Def go back. I had Rm last week and read a lot of old posts here and it was frightening the thought I'd not going in. Luckily mine has been moving loads. Currently 37 plus 3 but I will be phoning if I get any less movements. You should do the same. You'll just get more stressed not going in x

crazyexornot · 08/07/2019 19:55

Please go in every time!! I had reduced movements from 32 weeks after a very stressful pregnancy. I went in every time, and always felt like I was wasting their time but they were happy to see me every time. They ended up booking me appointments every other day from 36 weeks to make sure everything was ok. My LG arrived at 37 weeks as my waters broke and had group b strep so they had to induce me. Don't worry what they think, if you think something isn't right go in! Hope everything is ok

Mintypea5 · 08/07/2019 20:01

I was in a lot for RFM in the consultant decided to admit me over the weekend and then decided to induce for baby and my sake at 38 weeks on the Monday.

Keep going in

mumtoaw · 08/07/2019 20:15

Please go in, better be safe than sorry ❤️

Mrbumpoid · 08/07/2019 20:39

@ReganSomerset

I had the monitor thing that wraps around you. They put it on every few hours and movements and heartbeat came up fine -
although I couldn't really feel anything.

I then had a proper scan with a dr who confirmed everything was fine. He did say things can change though.

The thing is, the baby has always been so so so active. Like more than the normal, I think (from speaking to other mums). So it's difficult to explain to them that yes, there is movement but it is no where near what is normal.

Go in, every single time.

Heyha · 08/07/2019 20:52

Go in every time you are worried- be prepared they may decide to bring your induction forward so get your bags ready.

While being induced I had CTG every 8 hours (think this is standard?) so if there had been any problems they would have been found quickly even though it can be a long drawn out process actually being induced.

Mrbumpoid · 08/07/2019 21:12

Thanks all. I will definitely go back in

Keep going back, even if it's every day, and trust yourself. My baby's movements totally changed at 37 weeks but I was fobbed off by a community midwife. When I still felt unsettled about it two weeks later I finally went to hospital, all was fine but his heart rate dipped a couple of times and the Dr's weren't happy. He was born that night and is fine, but all the midwives scolded me for not going in sooner when I knew something didn't feel right.

MrsWalkz · 08/07/2019 21:22

Please go in. I felt RFM at 37 weeks and wasn't so lucky.

Always get it checked and if it becomes everyday perhaps ask for an induction 😊

Mrbumpoid · 08/07/2019 21:30

When I was with MK hospital, I had RFM and called up at 11pm only to be told that it'll probably be okay and baby is just bigger so won't move as much. She said I can come in but it's late so maybe see how it is the next day.

From this experience, I changed hospital right away. Apparently the midwife at MK hadn't even logged the call or anything!! So worrying.

SospanFrangipan · 08/07/2019 21:45

Please go in. I did, and then had to be monitored every other day for two weeks, then they decided to induce me at 37 weeks. The day units are there for this reason! Please call if you're concerned as Mums instinct starts during pregnancy. You know your baby best xx

xJune88 · 09/07/2019 08:22

Go back every single day OP. I had this near to the end of my pregnancy nearly every day, I went in for monitoring daily and did scans for my own peace of mind and they induced me a few days later which ended in emcs. Baby came out short of breath and screaming, was very poorly and spent a night in the neonatal unit and was treated for sepsis for 5 days. Please listen to your body and baby. I just knew something wasnt right and every body told me it was x (not saying this is the case but listen to your instincts!!)

ryanreynolds · 09/07/2019 08:42

I had RM at a similar point, and they referred me for a scan as well as reassuring me to come in anytime.

The scan was reassuring as cord and fluid level carefully checked.

Are you being scanned?

Like everyone else, I'd keep going in, nothing more important- better to feel a bit silly than anything bad to happen x

HJWT · 09/07/2019 08:46

When you was hooked up did you feel the movement or was it just coming up on the screen x

Mrbumpoid · 09/07/2019 11:04

@HJWT
Just on the screen the last two times!

I also wish there was some sort of explanation to a baby's movements reducing but it actually being okay. She was awake - and I mean awake and moving A LOT - about 8 or 9 times a day (plus a lot in the night if I ever happened to be up). Now it is 1 time a day but not with much going on. They say it is up to me what happens which is fine in some ways but also what if I go for early induction and it was unnecessary or something.

OP posts:
xJune88 · 09/07/2019 12:42

It's up to you OP you know your baby and its your choice. Once I was admitted to be induced it took 5 days to actually get to labour ward!! So be aware of that. Please dont ignore your instincts though baby would be fine if born at your gestation x

HJWT · 09/07/2019 15:24

@Mrbumpoid I was induced at 38+2 due to diabetes! I wouldn't recommend it unless necessary and your cervix is favourable as some women can be on the ward for days and days! My cervix was soft and 2cm dilated so I went ahead and had baby within 24 hours...

Have you been back today? I remember with DD she would always move when I was hooked up! It is very annoying because you feel like your imagining it, always better to check even if you have to go daily to feel better then do it! Xx
