Is lack of actual sickness a bad thing?

I’ve had nausea - feeling like I’m going to be sick, gagging etc and thrown up once or twice - I’m nearly 11 weeks but haven’t been physically sick much and I’m wondering if that’s a bad sign as I was reading on another thread where people said they had MC when they didn’t have sickness

No not at all! I have 2 healthy boys, both full term and good weights. Never had a MC, wasn’t sick at all with either pregnancy.

Redcrayons · 10/06/2019 22:08

I felt sick a lot but never actually vomited with mine. I have twins so chock a block with pregnancy hormones. And No heartburn either.
I had almost daily migraines for the last 5 months.

MrHaroldFry · 10/06/2019 22:09

Never had any sickness. Twins now happy, sporty, healthy preteens.

OhMsBeliever · 10/06/2019 22:11

I've had 4 pregnancies, and never really felt sick in any of them. My twin one I did feel slightly nauseous a few times, and was sick once (after the scan where I found out it was twins, so I think it was shock more than anything else!)

All perfectly fine pregnancies.

DelurkingAJ · 10/06/2019 22:14

No sickness and two full term pregnancies.

A friend of mine who suffers very badly was told by her consultant that it runs in families. My DM and DSis also avoided nausea so for us that held true.

CIT80 · 10/06/2019 22:16

Everyone is different - I’ve had 3 children and was not sick once with any of them xxx

Bluerussian · 10/06/2019 22:17

I only had one bout of vomiting, early morning and just looked like water, when pregnant. Everything normal.

fabulous01 · 10/06/2019 22:20

I had twins and little sickness
Enjoy as when I was sick it was yuk!

bonzo77 · 10/06/2019 22:21

Terrible nausea, only one vomit with my first. All ok. Second: nothing. MMC picked up at 12 weeks. Third debilitating nausea, no vomits: all ok. Fourth: terrible nausea. A bit of vomiting caused by very bad reflux later on in pregnancy, by which time the nausea had mostly gone. Again, all ok. And all boys, FWIW.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 10/06/2019 22:23

Honestly some people suffer from morning sickness & some don't, that's all there is to it. That statement about there being a correlation is utter dross & I'm sure the last thing OP wanted to hear. I was never sick, never even felt the slightest bit queasy, no heartburn nothing, the only symptom I had was crushing tiredness & ankles like balloons (although that was only for the last couple of weeks)

Heyha · 10/06/2019 22:27

I vomited as many times because I was learning how to manage horrendous indigestion as I did from proper morning sickness. I was MORE sick because I had a reaction to antibiotics around 10 weeks.

I felt sick all the bloody time but in terms of actually being sick it happened very infrequently, we're at 38 weeks now. Don't worry OP- the old wives tales say lack of sickness means a boy so it must be fairly common or it wouldn't have gone on enough to have a myth (truth? We'll see) attached to it.

Aberforthsgoat · 10/06/2019 22:30

Thank you
Yes, I was worried about the link to miscarriage. I have been pregnant before but it ended in a termination for medical reasons at 20 weeks although I had no issues carrying and wasn’t as queasy as I am this time, but last time has made
Me nervous something will go wrong.
When people refer to sickness I was never sure if they meant feeling nauseous or actually vomiting.
I’ve been feeling crap though - headaches, exhausted, vile taste in my mouth, feeling so queasy I can’t move off the sofa.

Thanks for sharing your experiences x

Currently 11 weeks also! Have had nausea but only actually been sick once or twice so I'm the same boat as you op. First pregnancy was very similar and she is happy and healthy now so I have no concerns on the sickness levels at all

WhiteLightTrainWreck · 10/06/2019 22:34

I suffered nausia to the extent I lived off ginger biscuits for a month, but I was only sick 5 times? After about the 14 week point I was fine, and except the bump, I've had no other noticeable symptoms. You are normal.

blueskiesbrighteyes · 10/06/2019 22:37

I didn't have any MS or any food aversions. Baby was born totally healthy and he's by far the most chilled and best sleeper in our NCT group. There's nothing at all wrong with no MS. Best of luck!

TheCraicDealer · 10/06/2019 22:50

I've had food aversions and mild nausea but no sickness at all. Now I'm 24w and it's all going fine, touch wood- bit of heartburn but that's it. My DMum was as sick as a dog with us but that was a twin pregnancy, and my DSis was queasy and only sick a few times with both her DC. Some of us are just "lucky" in that respect I suppose. I was convinced it was a boy because of the lack of sickness but we're actually expecting a little girl.

Aberforthsgoat · 11/06/2019 05:27

Thank you, seems I’m not unusual!

OP posts:
amehh · 11/06/2019 07:14

Definitely not unusual - as I understand it, morning sickness also includes nausea so you do have it! I was only sick once with DS (which was a tummy bug at 27 weeks) and I've only had nausea and that vile taste in my mouth this time too. Please don't worry, we are just lucky (for now!) The back pain is starting to come for me so I always pay for lack of sickness in some other way!

Aberforthsgoat · 11/06/2019 07:18

Thank you @amehh I do feel a bit better for starting the thread and am currently lying in bed gagging and feeling mildly travel sick!

Had mild nausea on my first that was easily managed by eating constantly, currently 13 weeks with my second and haven't had any nausea at all. I'm not a very sick person in general so I wonder whether that makes a difference.

DippyAvocado · 11/06/2019 07:35

I didn't have sickness with either of mine. Was quite nauseous with DC1 bit almost nothing at all with DC2. Both healthy, full-term pregnancies. Sickness just doesn't affect some people. I'm never sick when I'm not pregnant either.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 11/06/2019 09:15

Not every pregnancy is by the book. I had mild nausea and occasional actual sickness for both my first trimesters and that developed into full blown HG in my second trimesters! Obviously not the normal way things go but shows that every pregnancy is different :) Hope all is well at your 12 week scan!

theydontknowweknow · 11/06/2019 09:37

I'm 15 weeks now and not once been sick, had about 3 days where I felt sick when I was around 7 weeks but that was it!

Doilooklikeatourist · 11/06/2019 09:40

Didn’t have sickness , and barely any nausea with either of my pregnancies
Had restless legs syndrome , metallic taste in the mouth and extreme exhaustion

MrsxRocky · 11/06/2019 09:46

I never had sickness. Barely any nausea tbh. I still don't feel pregnant now and am 16 weeks
