The "8 weeks wait"...

So I thought the 2 weeks wait was difficult till I got my BFP. But now, that I am at 4 weeks, I feel so worried about losing it and I can't wait to reach the 12 weeks mark so I can relax somewhat. How do you handle this wait? How do you get on with your life not to think about the pregnancy like every second?

I'm exactly the same! I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and feel like it's taking a lifetime!! Every day seems to last like a week!! I have my scan booked for 12 weeks on 16th July it just seems so far away xx

CFlips · 10/06/2019 21:05

Bang on. Every minute of every day I am thinking about scans and baby and some horrible thoughts. I have booked an early scan to put my mind at rest a little. It's on Sunday and I am counting down!!!

PolarBearBubbles · 10/06/2019 21:12

It will come eventually! It's so natural though to become entirely self obsessed for this time and suddenly EVERYTHING you see or hear you'll relate back to being pregnant in some way! Hope all goes well.

Have a toddler. And work full time too. I keep forgetting I'm pregnant! 😂 No time for it, so many other things to do!

Hi ladies can I join?

I got my BFP on Wednesday last week and I hit the 4 week mark yesterday. I have repeated tests just to be sure although I know it's not helpful!

I got 1-2 weeks on a clear blue digital on Wednesday. A clear positive on a FR test on Thursday, another clear positive on a FR test on Friday and finally 2-3 weeks on a clear blue digital today.

I had my first GP appointment today and my first midwife appointment in on Thursday. I think I'm going to book in for an early private scan at 8 weeks as my sister did the same and felt just as anxious as me but said she felt reassured at the private scan knowing that the baby was growing well and the heartbeat was fine.

How is everybody feeling symptom wise? I can't stop thinking about things and I'm so excited but have a niggly worry in the back of the mind that just won't shift!

I am 27 and this will be my 1st 😊

whitelanner · 11/06/2019 05:24

Thanks ladies. It is nice to see I am not alone with this. :) Do you feel pregnant? ... I don't really, and this worries me as well. Confused

@S082018 Very similar story, I got my very very faint positive last Wednesday and I tested every single day since then, sometimes twice, just to be sure, the line is getting stronger. And so far it is! Smile My clearblue said 1-2 weeks on Saturday. How come you already had an appointment? I called them up and they told me to get back in touch when I hit the 8 weeks mark, and that was all I got. Shock
I have a mild cramp like 4 times a day, some lower back pain, but that's it. My boobs are not sore anymore. And my emotions evened out as well. I had more symptoms before I got the BFP. It's weird... how about you?

@Goosethemoose Yeah, that's a good way of doing it. Smile But I planned some resting for this summer, so I only work part time and have like 4-5 days off for myself each week. Smile But we are going abroad in 2 weeks so that will speed things up. Smile

I'm feeling this! I'm five weeks, phoned my GP surgery yesterday and have a MW appointment for when I'm eight weeks. It's only three weeks but the wait is unbearable!

Mrsmummy90 · 11/06/2019 06:42

@Goosethemoose totally agree lol. My pregnancy with dc1 lasted about 20 years. I'm 33+4 with dc2 and this time I've blinked and she's nearly here!

starflake · 11/06/2019 06:57

I'm 12 weeks today and was absolutely terrified when I found out that everything would be ok. Started to ease Up around 9 weeks & by last week I actually started to enjoy this pregnancy

Lauren83 · 11/06/2019 06:58

I had private HCG bloods then private scans just to get me through to 12 weeks (history of MMC and failed IVF) expensive but helped me through it

S082018 · 11/06/2019 07:32

@whitelanner sounds very similar! I just booked in with my GP yesterday and was told to book another appointment in with the midwife as I left the surgery and to tell them it's my first appointment and it just so happens that they offered me one this week. I was quite surprised as I thought it is too early but from what I have read, she will check my height, weight, blood pressure etc and also do a blood test. I think the process varies from practice to practice from what I've read on here.

I get the odd cramping here and there. My boobs hurt so much and feel huge! And I get very nauseous in the morning and want to constantly eat bread 🤦🏽‍♀️

Glad your line is getting stronger 💪🏽😊 will this be your first?

Preggers86 · 11/06/2019 07:47

Hi all and congratulations to you. I am currently 18+3 and from hearing baby's heart beat 3 weeks ago it seems to be taking forever to get to the 21st when I have my next scan. It makes you so anxious that you don't know if everything is ok, I'm just waiting to get that definitive movement so that I know what it feels like. I mean I think I've felt the baby move a bit but I can't be sure Confused

hipstercat · 11/06/2019 12:04

Yep it's horrible! I had a private scan at 9 weeks, depending on your financial situation that might be a way to make the wait a bit more bearable. It helped me to worry less and made it more real, though of course it's no guarantee even if all is well. To be honest I also sort of just went with it, and let the pregnancy take over my life for a while. I figured even if it goes wrong, at least I'll have experienced these few weeks of being pregnant. After the 12 week scan I felt much better, and during the second trimester I was much more able to get on with normal life again, focus on work etc. Good luck to you, hope you can enjoy at least some parts of this time!

PugPupsMum · 11/06/2019 14:29

This helped me a lot during the first trimester:

@PugPupsMom... that is great! Thanks!

Truth is I don’t really cope and the time ticks by slowly indeed- and I also have a toddler and full time job! You could have a reassurance scan at 7 weeks to check for heartbeat- apparently only 5% chance of miscarriage after that point. Not sure how valid the stats are though

MsSquiz · 11/06/2019 15:42

I'm 12 weeks now and I POAS every day from the day I got my BFP (3+5) until the day we went for an early private scan (6+6) because I was too impatient to wait until my 12 week scan (which will actually be when I'm 13 weeks)

Although I did go for a scan last week as I'd had a slight bleed (but all is well)

rubyroot · 11/06/2019 15:54

Past 4/5 weeks poas won’t teally tell you anything as if you have a missed miscarriage your hormone levels remain high

Beck2277 · 11/06/2019 16:19

I have my booking in appointment on Tuesday next week, will be 8 weeks on Friday and 1st pregnancy. Just hard to believe I'm pregnant as so few symptoms and feel ok! Took so many tests initially over the first couple of weeks so saw a 2-3 week on digital including very strong positives but still hard to believe! Avoiding an early scan as my logic is if something goes wrong it goes wrong regardless and feel as though it would be harder to see that it's ok and then something still goes wrong. Cant wait to get the scan date though!!

rubyroot · 11/06/2019 16:25

@Beck2277 yes I see the logic regarding scan. My logic is slightly different- I’d rather see no heartbeat earlier than no heart beat at 12 weeks.

hipstercat · 11/06/2019 16:43

Oh and I just wanted to add - apparently after a few weeks urine tests can become negative even if the pregnancy is progressing, due to some paradoxical effect to do with the molecular structure of the hormones they measure (the 'hook effect'). So don't POAS for too long or you might give yourself an unnecessary panic!

Beck2277 · 11/06/2019 17:47

@rubyroot totally get that. I had that thought process too. I guess I'm just trying to trust the nhs that they do scans at 12 weeks for a reason and if something was going wrong it is more likely I'd have issues than not. I know I could go and have a missed miscarriage but they are rare and chances of having a healthy pregnancy are higher than not :) I'm a very anxious person so know I might be wrong but trying to be positive! Fingers crossed we all have healthy pregnancies:)

rubyroot · 11/06/2019 20:25

Yes- I’m on the wrong thread really. Once bitten, twice shy. Missed miscarriages aren’t rare though. I think quite a lot of people miscarry and don’t know until later when their body passes the stuff.

Sorry I don’t want to increase your anxiety. NHS do scans at 12 weeks as the chances do significantly drop at 12 weeks. However if heartbeat is spotted at around 7 weeks chance of muscarrying is 5%
I’m once bitten twice shy I’m afraid so I tend to be very anxious and cautious about these things.

rubyroot · 11/06/2019 20:26

Stuff- sorry, not a great word huh?!

Lauraanne130592 · 11/06/2019 20:33

Hello, congratulations on your pregnancy!
I feel the same as you, I was 5 weeks when I found out and I'm now at 8 weeks. The thoughts that have gone through my mind have been crazy and it's so hard not to think about it.

I have booked a reassurance scan which is this Saturday to make sure it's all ok xxx
