Huge growth in 4 weeks, not a big deal?

I've been having scans every 4 weeks to monitor fluid and was told any increase in my above average fluid level would require a glucose tolerance test as in previous pregnancy.. My 28 week scan showed slightly raised fluid and baby measuring on the 50th centile line on my chart. The 32 week scan showed increase in fluid slightly but baby has doubled in size and now above the 95th centile line (although he plotted it wrongly as on the 90th centile line) at a whopping 5lb3 with 8 weeks to go until due date. Consultant (the 3rd different one ive seen said no need for the gtt to check for diabetes as baby would be bigger if I had it??? I'm confused totally as this goes against what every other consultant has said previously. Am I right in thinking usually that sort of growth is taken more seriously?!x
