Currently 41 + 6 Blush Checking in at the hospital at 8am tomorrow. I know inductions can be a long process, and I am interested in hearing how long it was for those of you who had one.... Thanks in advance to anyone who replies! Smile

Had one being overdue with DC2. Pessary in at 10pm, waters broke at 8am, contractions started 10am, baby born shortly after 1pm. So about 15 hours in total, which felt quick as I was expecting it could take a lot longer (as did MWs, baby was nearly born in the lift Grin).

Having elective induction this time around (for various reasons) and curious as to whether I’ll be waiting days!

A friend had an induction with a drip, went in somewhere around lunchtime, 7pm contractions started, 11pm baby was born. Also an overdue baby.

WhispersOfWickedness · 23/04/2019 16:49

From first pessary to baby in arms was 25 hours. It was absolutely fine, please don't believe all the horror stories Smile

Monipop84 · 23/04/2019 16:52

@AgileLass 6 days? What happened if you don't mind sharing? Shock

I had the gel at 9am, 4cm dilated by 12pm and baby born at 1635.

I had prepared myself for the long haul and downloaded a whole series of Downton Abbey to watch so I was more than a little surprised at how quickly it all happened!

Monipop84 · 23/04/2019 16:55

@WhispersOfWickedness I am trying to stay positive. After finishing my hypnobirthing course, I had this very naive plan of a water birth in the midwife unit, but birth plans almost never work out - and here I am at 42 weeks pregnant with little lady having the biggest lie-in ever! I decided to be relaxed about the whole thing and go with the flow though....

fessmess · 23/04/2019 16:57

Ginger1982 · 23/04/2019 16:58

Started pessaries on the Monday, waters manually broken early Wednesday morning and DS was born by EMCS Wednesday teatime. Never again!

Ginger1982 · 23/04/2019 16:59

Should add I was 38 weeks.

Theseptemberissues · 23/04/2019 16:59

Went from from induction (they managed to break my waters) to baby in less than 5 hours Smile

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 23/04/2019 16:59

Pessary was in at 10pm, nothing happened until 7pm the following day, then had a very fast 1hour 3min labour, with baby born in 2 pushes! Good luck op x

BlueMerchant · 23/04/2019 17:02

Dontcarewhatimdoing · 23/04/2019 17:03

I went in to hospital Friday evening, and had pessary in then. Had mild contractions overnight, but managed to have a reasonable nights sleep so nothing too serious. Mild contractions carried on through Saturday morning, and I can remember, fool that I was, thinking that if this is labour then its no big deal. I was 2cm dilated at 2pm, so they broke my waters. It got really bloody painful really quickly then, but it was only three hours from then until I was 10cm and pushing, and two hours after that DS arrived by ventouse. Hope all goes well for you.

ilovemilton · 23/04/2019 17:08

I was told at a routine midwife appt that I had just popped out of work for, as I was meant to be 35 weeks; that I had preeclampsia and would need to be induced. Somehow ended up with a scan and they decided they had got the dates wrong and I needed inducing.

Went for a sweep at about 6pm, to be told I didn't need one as I was in labour. I kept denying this, still thinking I was heading back to work! I agreed with them about 8pm when the pain began, and he was born within the hour.

I didn't finish the shift

Lauren83 · 23/04/2019 18:58

Started on the Monday at 9am but nothing would get me going so had a section on the Thursday

AgileLass · 23/04/2019 20:38

2 pessaries, each left in for 24 hours with 12 hours break in between.

Then waiting for 36 hours to go down to the labour ward for them to break my waters.

36 hour labour which ended in an EMCS.

Still had a lovely baby at the end!

Good luck OP Smile

Littlemissdaredevil · 23/04/2019 20:44

6 hours (first baby) and three of those hours were pushing (and forceps)
