I'd really appreciate any positive stories. I've had many miscarriages and really trying to stay hopeful with this one. Hoping and praying this is it for us.

Thanks in advance ❤️

I have no success story but I had a miscarriage 3 weeks ago and will likely start trying again in 1-2 weeks.
I hope it goes well for you this time.

megamouse · 17/04/2019 06:58

@Confused38 sending love and good luck to you ❤️❤️

I had x5 IVF miscarriages, yet here I am right now breast feeding my 5 week old PGD IVF 8 years after first trying for a baby.

I won’t give you any platitudes as they used to piss me off, but definitely with this pregnancy I decided to not worry, enjoy the moment and deal with it if it went pear shaped. I did my best to maintain that.

Wishing you all the best! Flowers

Hope all goes well for you and apologies if this is not relevant/outdated but Can I just ask if you are having medical treatment? When I had fertility treatment some 20 years ago, recurrent miscarriage due to sticky blood syndrome was treated with aspirin /heparin. (And the two teenagers currently asleep in the rooms next to me are a result of this treatment).

Hopefulforourrainbow · 17/04/2019 07:35

I had 3 consecutive miscarriages and I'm currently 32+2. I had various tests done which all came back normal. I have been taking 75mg aspirin daily and took progesterone pessaries until week 13. Good luck x

Lauren83 · 17/04/2019 07:42

I had 3 miscarriages, 1 natural and 2 donor egg IVF, I then had a son last year from donor eggs and then a surprise natural pregnancy due in 9 weeks. I was also on steroids, aspirin, prontogest and clexane for both those pregnancies

Don't give up Thanks

misstime · 17/04/2019 10:35

I had three miscarriages at 10-11 weeks in under a year. Had all the tests and nothing was found. I'm now 22+4 and everything is going well. I've done nothing differently this time around but did find having fortnightly scans at the recurrent miscarriage clinic up until 12 weeks really reassuring. Will you be able to have these with this pregnancy? It's still been an anxious time getting here - unfortunately I don't think there is any way to avoid that after recurrent miscarriage, you've just got to get through each day and then each week until you can start to enjoy it (which is yet to happen for me!). I hope your pregnancy goes well this time!

whiteonesugar · 17/04/2019 11:24

I am on my 7th Pregnancy at the mo, i have one DS who is 4 and am 30 weeks pregnant now.

I had 3 losses before DS and another 2 before this one stuck.

I use Asprin and Cyclogest but still lost 2 using that. I dont think it's the miracle worker combo that I did previously, I think sheer persistence helped.

Good luck I hope it works out for you xx

EhBeeSee · 17/04/2019 11:36

I had 4 miscarriages in a row. Very horrible time in my life, but all the usual tests came back fine.

With my next pregnancy after the 4th miscarriage I was on high dose VitD (I was severely deficient), low dose aspirin (just to give it a go, as there was no harm in trying), high dose folic acid and a variety of vitamins mainly Selenium and Magnesium.

DS was born healthy 8 months later. Then I had DD 22 months after him, with only low dose aspirin and VitD supplements.

It can happen OP. Good luck FlowersFlowers

I had 11 miscarriages before finally having my son two years ago. I am now pregnant with my second!

They never really got to the bottom of what caused the miscarriages but with my son i took aspirin, progesterone suppositories, heparin injunctions and increased thyroxine. Basically we threw the kitchen sink at it, but it was a smooth pregnancy and all was well: I'm now replicating all of that for my second. I'm only 4+3 and still scared every day but I also think it's really important to stay positive and believe in a positive outcome, as dippy as that sounds.

Fx for you. It's a horrible journey and I pray that you'll get your rainbow this time xx

megamouse · 17/04/2019 14:14

Thank you ladies! Can I ask when you all started the aspirin/ hormones?

I ask because I am very eager to start if I need to.

OP posts:
flumpybear · 17/04/2019 14:16

Aspirin and hormones via consultant for me, I still had a loss on these but have had two successful pregnancies

I also used agnus castus TIL BFP but you're beyond that now 👍👍👍

flumpybear · 17/04/2019 14:16

Aspirin and hormones from BFP

flumpybear · 17/04/2019 14:17

Oh and high concentration folic acid (I took probably 5-10 a day lol - you urinate what You don't need

peasando · 17/04/2019 14:30

Aspirin and progesterone from BFP, heparin from 6 weeks I think. Like pp I had losses on the aspirin and progesterone before DS came along but he is living, giggling, cheeky proof that you can have a successful pregnancy even after many miscarriages x

peasando · 17/04/2019 14:34

Oh and high concentration folic acid (I took probably 5-10 a day lol - you urinate what You don't need

I'm not sure this is brilliant advice! NHS says:

Taking doses of folic acid higher than 1mg can mask the symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiencyy_, which can eventually damage the nervous system if it's not spotted and treated.

You should just take normal folic acid supplements unless advised otherwise by your midwife or doctor. I take the pregnacare multivitamins to be sure I'm taking everything I'm supposed to be.

EhBeeSee · 17/04/2019 15:28

I took the aspirin from BFP to 36 weeks, because of something about thin blood at the time of delivery can be potentially dangerous.

High dose folic acid I took from before conception upto 12 weeks.
Everything else up until birth.

Have you discussed this with your doctor? If not, just tell them you want to try it this time. I was told to try aspirin as it doesn’t do any harm, it was 75mg a day.

What I learnt through my miscarriages was that you have to fight for all treatment on the NHS, and do loads and loads of research and throw it at your doctor.

megamouse · 17/04/2019 16:13

Waiting to have the pregnancy confirmed at my doctors. The test results should be there tomorrow.

What should I then ask about?

I really don't want to worry but I also want to know I'm doing all I can.

Hopefulforourrainbow · 17/04/2019 16:42

Have you been seen in a miscarriage clinic and had testing? I bought aspirin over the counter and took it from bfp. Progesterone was prescribed and also taken from bfp.

megamouse · 17/04/2019 16:45

@Hopefulforourrainbow I've not been seen yet. Got an appointment in May. I want to be seen more urgently Incase I can prevent anything else.

Should I start aspirin myself?

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/04/2019 16:56

Congratulations Smile

I had 5 mcs including two mmc, all tests were clear. My sixth pregnancy is now my daughter who’s 4 weeks old and I took a huge cocktail of stuff under the recurrent miscarriage clinic I was under.

Steroids, cyclogest (progesterone suppositories), aspirin and fragmin from bfp for various amounts of time. This was the first time I’d had the steroids and this time they doubled the aspirin and quadrupled the progesterone. I’ll never know what if any of it worked but something was different and this one made it Smile

Wishing you a healthy, uneventful, successful pregnancy Flowers

Smurf123 · 17/04/2019 16:58

@megamouse I was awaiting my appointment at recurrent miscarriage clinic after 3 consecutive miscarriages. I asked my gp about the aspirin who phoned and asked the rmc who said it would be the first thing they would prob try so they were happy for my gp to prescribe it. I took it from I knew I was pregnant to 36 weeks. My son was born at 37+2 and is now a healthy happy 13 month old. Due to some issues with placenta, blood flow and growth that resulted in induction at 37 weeks and probable cause of my son needing to spend a week in nicu my consultant has said that if I'm pregnant again she would want me to be on double the aspirin so 150mg and high dose folic acid so I truly believe the 75mg aspirin is what made this pregnancy stick around.
Hoping this one goes smoothly for you!

haverhill · 17/04/2019 17:02

My friend had lots of early MC and it turned out she had ‘sticky blood’. She took aspirin with her next pg and now has 2 children.

Hopefulforourrainbow · 17/04/2019 17:24

Yeah I would just take aspirin if I were you. no harm in giving it a go

EhBeeSee · 17/04/2019 19:27

I would start it too, and let the doctor know tomorrow you’ve started. It’s pretty last resort method for recurrent miscarriages as can be seen from other posters here.

Ask for the high dose folic acid too. The doctors here won’t give you anything unless you ask for it. I have bitter experience.

Have you had a vitamin D test? If not, I’d tell the doctor you’ve done research and Vitamin D deficiency is a known cause of recurrent miscarriage and you’d like to be tested to rule it out.

There used to be a recurrent miscarriage thread on here years ago when I had my fourth mc and the women on there were so helpful and informative. We all ended up with babies at one point or other after years of misery. Have a look, it might still be running.
