Just for 3-4 days for a relaxing break?

Yes if I was having a straightforward pregnancy and had travel insurance to cover premature birth/other complications.

randomsabreuse · 12/04/2019 12:16

Depends on how hot it would be and how you deal with heat. Winter sun, maybe, summer no way but then I am of the burn to a crisp in the UK in March variety!

ohyesohyessyyesyes · 12/04/2019 12:19

Yes i did. Years back now. With a 3 year old in tow and it was fantastic Smile

nutellalove · 12/04/2019 12:24

I personally wouldn't. Id probably prefer to go somewhere with good healthcare if possible.

Endlessfeasts · 12/04/2019 12:33

No.
Any other time yes.
But really at 30 weeks no. It’s just so exhausting.
Heat, hassle, potential for all sorts of food poisoning issues, animal/insect bites ..... not the best healthcare, etc.
And I adore Morocco, have been many times.
I just wonder how much you could enjoy it if you had anxieties about any of these things.

Itscoldouthere · 12/04/2019 12:34

If you have insurance in place and have had a normal healthy pregnancy yes.
We were there a few weeks ago, it was very busy and hot, but there are plenty of places to sit and rest and have a drink.
Taxis everywhere if you need them.
We did lots of walking.
Can I recommend www.lejardinsecretmarrakech.com/en/
It’s a beautiful garden on the edge of the souk, it was so beautiful and calm with a cafe, also wasn’t too busy unlike the Yves St Lauren museum/garden which was packed.
We stayed in a small Riad, but I would have loved a proper pool/garden for late afternoon evening time, so if I went again I’d probably stay in a bigger hotel.

There is a good private hospital in marrakech, gps don't make house calls, so to see one, you visit their surgery and wait. Getting an ambulance is difficult. Once you get to the hospital the treatment is very good, (probably better than the nhs due to funding constraints) getting there quickly in an emergency is not so easy.

Riad Sable Chaud is run by a lovely italian lady whom speaks very good english and is very helpful, I stayed there 18 months back and was unwell during my stay. It is also in the medina and only about a mile or so from the hospital.

Marghe87 · 12/04/2019 13:18

I love high temperatures as I am not from the UK and am used to the heath. But it wouldn't be in the summer so fairly mild.

Tough one. In two of my pregnancies - not a chance. In the other one, I'd have had no problem with it. Trouble is you don't necessarily know what kind of pregnancy you'd have by that stage - in my last I had SPD that started around 28 weeks and I could hardly walk at 30 weeks and was in constant pain.

On balance I'd say no, unless it was easily cancellable.

Marghe87 · 12/04/2019 13:45

Is there a big different between 26 weeks and 30 weeks you think? Just wondering as I have no idea:)

purplemama1990 · 12/04/2019 15:32

I'm only 27 weeks now, but I would definitely still go. I went on a 4 day holiday that involved a lot of walking and up and down stairs etc two weeks ago, and I was exhausted yes, but it was worth it! If you're feeling extra tired or anything, just take it easy and relax, and enjoy it!

Insywinsyy · 12/04/2019 19:57

I absolutely would. I’ve been and it was fantastic

Cosmogirl86 · 12/04/2019 21:16

I personally wouldn't. I have had it drummed into me by my consultant that babies can come very early, though that's likely because I'm carrying twins!

Also the risks of DVT and flying, I wouldn't chance it. My blood clot in leg is very painful!

CloudRusting · 12/04/2019 21:17

Personally no but then I am quite risk averse on this.

Jaffacakebeast · 12/04/2019 21:37

I wouldn’t go back to Morocco for money, pregnant or not

Endlessfeasts · 12/04/2019 21:39

Ooh why jaffacakebeast?

Endlessfeasts · 12/04/2019 21:41

I had one trip where it all went well and it was paradise.
Then one where it went slightly wrong and descended into total chaos .
So I saw both on different occasions in the same place.

Jungfraujoch · 12/04/2019 21:47

Sorry to hijack OP but I’m off to Marrakech on Sunday - can’t wait but not looking forward to the 90 degree heat and I’m not pregnant!

PBobs · 13/04/2019 00:27

Definitely. Wish I could go on a holiday right now and I'm 31+5. I feel great. I'm not overly big, baby is doing well, I'm really quite comfy and I could murder a good couscous with a chicken, lemon and olive tagine. And some pigeon pie. So yes, I would go to Morocco right now. I'll settle for Greece in just under 2 weeks.

EnjoyItAll · 13/04/2019 09:13

The only reason I wouldn’t is when we went for almost 2 weeks the food in the hotel made us ill and it was a Thompson hotel. I’m not sure on the medical care there either. I didn’t overly enjoy my time there at all unfortunately. If you are going make sure you check quality of healthcare

SockQueen · 13/04/2019 18:13

I'm no good at hot weather so wouldn't enjoy it, but that may be different for you.

Two things to check before you book/go:
1)Will you be going during Ramadan? My understanding is that may severely limit availability of food/drinks during the day even if you are not fasting, as many restaurants and businesses are closed.

2)Will your travel insurance cover you AND YOUR BABY if it is born while you are there? Neonatal care for a 30 weeker could get very expensive very quickly.

HayzCo · 14/04/2019 06:29

I’m definitely going to try and squeeze in a holiday between 30-34 weeks and from what I have read it seems fine to do that. Morocco has terrible waste management though and I have known so many people come back from there with awful sickness bug that lasts for weeks. Appreciate that is anecdotal but it’s definitely over indexed on the number of people who suffer it! I guess could be same anywhere though so if you do go you’ll have to be super careful about what you eat and drink x

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel · 14/04/2019 06:34

I did exactly that amd it was brilliant. Everyone was very friendly, accommodating and respectful of my big bump. Souk owners would often give me their seat when my husband was looking around and one even got me a mint tea which was really sweet. Would highly recommend.
