Because Jesus Christ Almighty I think I'm dying here.

Only 6 +1 today, this has been going on for over a week.
I'm either on the couch or in bed not able to move. Even showering is a chore and I can't stop crying.
I have 3 children and a full time job (that I'm currently signed off from). I need to be semi useful. Things need to be done.

It's been 8 years since my last pregnancy and I can't remember much.
The thoughts of another 6 weeks of this is soul destroying.

Please give me some hope- if you had morning sickness or pregnancy related nausea what week did it end for you? (Week 7, right??? 😬)

Also give it to me straight if it's likely this will go on for some time yet. I like to be prepared.

Thanks so much in advance

(Obviously I have looked it up and although some unlucky women have this for their entire pregnancy, the symptoms are likely to subside when the placenta takes over at the end of the first trimester but I'd love to hear actual experiences from other women)

Sorry. Both mynpregnancies it started at 5 weeks (before testing for DC2) and finished less than 5 minutes before giving birth.

Up to 5 months it was multiple times a day. Then it gradually reduced to "just" once a day.

There wont be a 3rd DC - I cant face the sickness again.

instagland · 02/03/2019 16:38

Sorry to hear you are struggling. For me it started before missed period and didn't go until about 18 weeks and has lingered a bit at a mild level since then. I found weeks 5-9 and 11-13 the worst. Are you able to keep anything down at all? For me it was the food aversions and the smell aversions that were the worst as it made me feel terrible, but throwing up was a nice relief! I even went off chocolate for a few months, but am making up for it now! I nearly killed my other half when he had a strop at me for not being able too cook with onions or garlic for a few months 😠

You need to see the doctor, they can prescribe anti-emetics/anti nausea medication. I didn't find they got rid of the nausea, but it helped me not vomit when I was going through a bad stage with it. You don't have to grin and bear it! Lots of iced drinks/lemonade lollies helped too

I'm 37 weeks today and feel a bit 🤢, but it's manageable. You do get used to it, but I am looking forward to being able to have a coffee without feeling rough afterwards.

TickleMeEmo · 02/03/2019 16:39

Pregnancy no.1 - all the way through starting from around 4/5 weeks 😬

This pregnancy- from about 6 weeks until around 14 weeks I think. Starting to get a fair bit of nausea again now with 4 weeks to go though!

LashesZ · 02/03/2019 16:40

5 weeks up until delivery. Broke my waters being sick Grin. But don't suffer if it does get debilitating or go on in to your second trimester, there are options that don't harm your baby that you GP can discuss with you. Other than that eat little and often, ice lollies and flat lemonade for hydration and remind yourself that the second trimester is the "cute sized bump lots of energy stage". Wink

glamorousgrandmother · 02/03/2019 16:43

Mine eased off a bit after 5 months but didn't really go away until after the birth. I lost nearly a stone in the first 3 months and didn't gain any weight between 7 and 8 months. Baby was 7lb 1oz and I left hospital in a pencil skirt.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 02/03/2019 16:46

My God, you poor poor things!

I feel like going downstairs and punching my DH in the willy now. I'd urge you all to do the same.

It's nausea more than anything (or at least has been) but is horrendously debilitating. Today is the first day I've thrown up a lot. (Felt mildly but briefly better)

I have a GP appointment on Monday so I'll speak to her then. Even the thoughts of getting dressed and going into the GP is killing me.

I've also went into a sudden chrons flare (after being well for over a year) last week which probably isn't helping.

I'll try some of your suggestions (ice lollies - especially calypsos sound amazing right now. Hadn't thought of this)

Hoping you all have relieve very soon and happy uneventful pregnancies from here on in.

Thanks so much for your replies, I really appreciate them

Both pregnancies felt off before I even missed my period. Really bad nausea from about 6 weeks that finished quite abruptly around 13 weeks. It's shit. I feel really bad for those who have it the whole time! Hope it improves soon. You can get anti-nausea medication from your GP, although the one I had (cyclizine) made me extemely tired.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 02/03/2019 16:46

@glamorousgrandmother you left the hospital in a pencil skirt??? 😮
(Are you Kate Middleton?)

Does the anti nausea meds actually work? That would be amazing

Unfeathered · 02/03/2019 16:48

6 to 16 weeks with all 3 pregnancies!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 02/03/2019 16:51

@Unfeathered we're they all girls by any chance?

I have a theory that this is a girl because of the sickness (as a side note I genuinely couldn't care less what sex it is) but I do remember being very sick with my girls (almost 14 and 8 now so can't remember when it stopped and started) but used to forget I was pregnant with my boy (now 9 years) as I was so well

Sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish, it's totally draining isn't it Sad I started being sick and felt absolutely exhausted from 5 weeks, started feeling less tiered from 11/12 weeks and stopped being sick at 18 weeks. On a plus after that I had a brilliant pregnancy, felt and functioned normally until baby was born

mumof2oneofeach · 02/03/2019 16:51

All the way through both - sorry!

Please, please, insist your GP takes this seriously. Luckily mine had been through 3 pregnancies with the same and so did everything she could to help me with the 2nd when it was awful. I tried multiple different pills and had time signed off sick to cope. We got it manageable but if I hadn't had that GP I'm not sure what I would have done.

Hope you get this sorted. It is horrible!

VioletBedframe · 02/03/2019 16:54

DC1 - 4 wks to 19 wks
DC2 - 4 wks to 25 wks

But most people I know didn’t have it that long.

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 02/03/2019 16:59

My nausea eased off around week 20 I was only actually sick for a couple of weeks. I'm now 35 weeks and the nausea has been back, not quite as intense for the last couple of weeks

polkadotpixie · 02/03/2019 17:00

6-18 weeks. Weeks 7-14 were the worst. I still had nausea after 18 weeks mildly but it had gone completely by 21 weeks

BillyAndTheSillies · 02/03/2019 17:12

Have only been sick a few times but have had 24 hour a day nausea since before even getting a positive test.
With my DS I was like this until 18 weeks.
The idea of this for another 10 weeks is exhausting to just think about.

GabbyGal · 02/03/2019 17:12

7-17 weeks, weeks 9-12 were the worst. I didn’t throw up at all, but the nausea was just horrendous so I completely sympathise. Hope you feel better soon.

ilovepringles · 02/03/2019 17:15

Oh god, I could have written your post 12 years ago! Mine are 12 and 8 now but I remember it so well. Off work for a month, dragged myself back at 13 weeks, puking 8+ times a day...

I had anti sickness drugs which stopped the vomiting (mostly) but did nothing for the nausea. It slowed down about week 14, dr told me to stop the tablets, and it returned with a vengeance. Eventually stopped by about week 18 then was fine from then on.

You have my every sympathy. It's awful. But as I'd had losses before both pregnancies it was reassuring (in a very pukey way!). Salty crisps and crackers were really the only things I could stomach. Oh and tinned peaches!

DinoMamasaurus · 02/03/2019 17:32

Didn’t throw up at all with either of mine but really strong constant nausea. Like having the worst hangover ever while being on a super rough ferry crossing. It sucks and I really sympathise.

DC1 (boy) - 7 and a bit weeks to 12 weeks. Had to take some time off work but managed pretty much by laying on the sofa keeping still. Plus eating little and often.

DC2 - (girl) 5+1 to 15 weeks. Felt much worse, really hard to function and look after toddler. Was really getting me down and tearful. Ended up with cyclizine from the GP. Ididn’t want to have meds but goodness me they really helped me to get through it. I would really recommend giving them a go if you are suffering. I spoke to two different GPS before I took the prescription and they really reassured me they were safe. I still didn’t feel totally fantastic but they took away the literally constant feeling of about to be sick and on them I was able to keep hydrated and eat which is important.

Also a big fan of mini callipos to help with hydration and as something easier than drinking water. Eating something before getting out of bed or really moving at all (I found Cheerios worked) was helpful in the morning. Some people find cold drinks help for me when I was struggling to drink some weak squash topped up with a bit of hot to take the chill off went down much easier.

Do hope you find some things that work for you and the GP is helpful. It’s so tough when you are going through this and it seems like the time is barely passing BUT it will pass.

Not for everyone maybe but second time around I had a little notebook where I ticked off the days gotten through and had a list of things which helped and a list of positive thoughts.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 02/03/2019 17:49

5 weeks till 25 ish weeks. Was awful. Don't be afraid of medication.

Nathansmommy1 · 02/03/2019 18:14

4 weeks until 24 weeks for me. Finally gone since last week, just hope it stays away now!

greenpop21 · 02/03/2019 19:07

Had 2 DDs and had zero morning sickness or any sickness. I actually worried that there was something wrong but no , 2 healthy daughters.

glamorousgrandmother · 02/03/2019 19:10

HarryPottersSecretSister no, just very sick. I woke up the morning after DD was born craving a bacon sandwich - I hadn't been able to face any meat for 9 months. This was 1980 and I was prescribed Debendox in the early months. It didn't work so I stopped taking it just before it was withdrawn from use. I ate biscuits and any junk food I could keep down (normally had a healthy diet) but DD was unharmed and just sucked all the nutrition from me.
