Yes of course no problem :) my 34 weeker did brilliantly, I had the steroids while I was in labour with him as it lasted 3 days. He was born, managed quite some time with us for cuddling. He was a very good weight at 5lb15oz, they expected he could go up to SCBU for an overall check and then come back down to the ward to me. However, he did end up with some relatively common preemie problems, he wasn’t maintaining his own blood sugars, so he had to be put on a glucose drip, and nil by mouth until they slowly introduced feeds through his nasal tube. It was a slow process of tiny amounts which they gradually increased and spaced out which then turned into proper feeds on demand. He had jaundice so ended up in an incubator for phototherapy and he dropped to 5lb. He had an 8 day hospital stay, four of those I was still on the postnatal ward, I was discharged for the following four. But there are many factors, some 34 weekers may be well enough to stay on the postnatal ward for a few days before being discharged, some may be like my son, and there was also a lady I met on the ward who had 3 weeks in because their little boy was a lot slower to establish feeding. Overall though 34-36 weekers tend to do well.
I can’t imagine how frustrating it is, pregnancy is hard enough without the added stress of not knowing what plans are in place. I hope they can decide soon, so that you can at least plan around your other children.
