I’m not pregnant, just curious! We are TTC and I’m a very sicky person so I’m preparing for the worst. Thanks!

mine started at 5+4 - mostly nausea and always in the afternoon/evening. now 10+3 and hoping it will stop soon!

LeslieYep · 21/11/2018 13:19

Mine started around week 6ish. Now 9 and want it to piss off. It's not even sickness, just aversion to all food, except certain things. Sometimes. Maybe. Eugh.

Bobbiepin · 21/11/2018 13:24

About 2 weeks after BFP and lasted until 5.5 months. It was awful.

LaceyLou42 · 21/11/2018 13:33

@Bobbiepin 2 weeks, as early as that!? Shock I just know I’ll be terrible with it anything makes me feel sick. If it’s on the side effects I’ve got it!

My first pregnancy - started about 8 weeks and just felt sick but never actually vomited. It went away about 14 weeks

My second pregnancy- started at 4 weeks and I vomited up to 10 ten times a day almost every day until 17 weeks

Unfortunately, you just can't predict what will happen and just need to take it as it comes. I used sickness wrist bands for my second, lived on plain dry food and more or less rated off work until it passed (with a doctors note). The only good thing about bad morning sickness is that when it finally passes, you appreciate feeling normal SO MUCH. Grin after experiencing that, You feel like you can pretty much handle anything!

Good luck when the time comes and hoping you have no sickness at all as many women bypass this completely Smile

WallisFrizz · 21/11/2018 13:36

About 7 weeks pg. Lasted until 14 weeks with DS. With DD it went on until 22 weeks, went for 6 weeks then returned until she was born. That was fun Hmm.

bengalcat · 21/11/2018 13:36

5 weeks - stopped day she was born ( 38 + 5 )

BitOutOfPractice · 21/11/2018 13:36

It never did kick in!

iIcouldsleepforaweek · 21/11/2018 13:36

Forgot to add, with my second the sickness came back in the final few weeks! Think I just had bad luck that time lll

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 21/11/2018 13:38

Bang on 5 weeks and lasted until the day he was born.
I'm not generally a 'sickly' person but I do react badly to hormones

ChilliMum · 21/11/2018 13:38

First signs of morning (all day) sickness was before my period was due with both of mine, not actual sickness but could suddenly smell stuff that no one else could smell like something had died in the fridge so every time I tried to take food out I would just end up feeling nauseous and coffee started to taste really off and I was unable to finish the cup.

First time I was incredulous dh couldn't smell the fridge and insisted that we defrost and give it a good clean (didnt help) and we had a huge fight as I was sure he had bought cheap coffee and was just pretending it was the good stuff.

I am not normally this crazy but between the hormones and nausea and not knowing why I wasn't in a great place.

Second time, when I told dh I was pregnant he said he had known for a week as I had been unusually grumpy, complained that the fridge smelt, asked him to move the recycling bin down the garden as the smell was drifting in through the windows and had twice accused him of buying cheap coffee Grin

Parttimewasteoftime · 21/11/2018 13:41

Yeah two weeks here lasted the whole pregnancy and was all day sickness. Not normally a sick person was horrible.

Iflyaway · 21/11/2018 13:41

Never had it!

SlightDark · 21/11/2018 13:41

Mine started about 8 weeks (I founbd out I was pregnant at 12 weeks, I look back at texts I sent my husband about feeling ill to know it was 8) and felt better at 23 weeks.

8DaysAWeek · 21/11/2018 13:41

6 weeks on the dot

Spargle · 21/11/2018 13:48

Had the first inkling of not feeling quite like eating lunch at 5+2, the first actually feeling slightly rough but still ok at 5+5, the first “actually, I’m not going to finish that sandwich” at 5+6, and started to feel ill in a “please don’t make me do anything” way at, maybe, 6+3.

9+4 now. It’s been fluctuating a bit, with the worst days so far being between 8+6 and 9+2. I’m REALLY hoping that was the worst. Right now, I could do a thing if necessary. DH made me some toast, and once I’d eaten the first piece I actually felt well enough to get up and put jam on the other piece! Wow!

I’ve not actually been sick at all. My gag reflex has tried, but my stomach has been steadfast.

I thought I’d probably feel dreadful during early pregnancy (I’ve had a couple of times when I might have had a chemical pregnancy, judging by how ill I felt), but it’s not reached my worst expectations, and it took longer than I expected actually to feel bad. In the beginning, it was more reassuring than horrible. Now it is both.

And yes - all pregnancies are different. You might not have any sickness at all. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you are lucky in this way!

LaceyLou42 · 21/11/2018 14:03

Thanks for all your replies! Obviously it is very different for different people. My SIL was very poorly with sickness from 4 weeks to 13 but is now feeling better. Hoping all you affected feel better ASAP Sad

For those of you that suffered for many weeks how did you manage with work?!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 21/11/2018 14:13

Another one here that didn’t get it. Might explain why I got to 17 weeks before realising. (I had really irregular periods so didn’t think anything of it).

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 21/11/2018 14:18

I ended up signed off work - think it was for about 5 weeks in total. I had a very understanding employer! I did end up having to tell them at 6 weeks though as I just couldn't hide it.

Unicornandbows · 21/11/2018 14:22

Mines started at 5/6 weeks now I am 18wks and I am still chucking it

MyMumDimensionJumps · 21/11/2018 14:27

Before my (early - 10dpo) BFP. So just before the 4 week mark. Really kicked in about 5 weeks and didn't leave until about 16/17 weeks, and I still get short bouts of it now.

I had vomiting and quite severe nausea, but luckily could keep something down most of the time, but wasn't eating particularly well because of it. The smell aversions are the worst.

It is absolutely horrid if you get it bad, but hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones who doesn't suffer much. I thought it was bad in my first pregnancy - until this one!

LovesLaboursLost · 21/11/2018 14:31

With my first, it never did. With my second it started a few days before my missed period. I’d always thought that morning sickness that early was a myth or psychosomatic but nope. Went on until about 15 weeks.

Nat6999 · 21/11/2018 14:32

Mine started at 5 weeks exactly, I was never sick in a morning, it started at teatime, I not only had sickness, I started with stomach cramps & diarrhoea, then I started vomiting, I would really fancy something to eat, eat it & within an hour be stuck on the toilet with my head in a bucket. Thankfully it only lasted a month & went away as fast as it had started.

LadyDuplo · 21/11/2018 14:33

Proper morning sickness around 6ish weeks. But with my Dd I definitely felt weak, giddy and ever so slightly nauseous before I'd missed my period - which caused me to tell my
Husband I was pretty sure I was pregnant before I'd even done a test. With my first, my ds, I didn't get those symptoms so soon - they came later.
