I’m not pregnant, just curious! We are TTC and I’m a very sicky person so I’m preparing for the worst. Thanks!

6-12 weeks.

Felt permanently hungover.

physicskate · 21/11/2018 14:37

First started on the way to my first scan at 6+3. Upchucked all over the pavement outside the hospital. It was very dignified... I'm sure. Was then sick once or twice most days until 13 ish weeks. Still sick occasionally at nearly 25 weeks.

Bluebelltulip · 21/11/2018 14:44

First pregnancy started at 8 weeks ended at 16 weeks, classic sick in morning then fine so didn't impact work.

Second pregnancy started before if missed my period and was unpredictable so did impact work but was able to work at home. Largely eased off at 16 weeks but still get the occasional sicky day at 23 weeks.

IRememberSoIDo · 21/11/2018 14:48

Before I tested each time I was gagging brushing my teeth and could smell smells no other human could! Cleared around 5 months on first pregnancy and lasted until after birth on last pregnancy. I had hyperemesis, it wasn't normal sickness at all.

Babdoc · 21/11/2018 14:56

Only actually vomited once in each pregnancy. First time at 5am while trying to resuscitate a cot death baby in A and E, second while scrubbed up trying to put an epidural in a patient with a retained placenta.
Otherwise, just mild nausea while cooking dinner in the evening. I’d expected to be worse affected, as I get terribly seasick and coach sick, and run a very low blood pressure when pregnant (85/50) so prone to be a bit faint and queasy.
There’s huge variation, OP, from no sickness at all, right up to hyperemesis where the poor women need hospitalised with dehydration.
You just have to see how it goes in your own case. Fingers crossed!

HermioneWaslib · 21/11/2018 14:58

This time I’ve been sick a lot from 7-12 weeks (now), last time was only about five times. But you feel so much better after throwing up, I’m not so scared of being sick anymore.

Notquiteagandt · 21/11/2018 14:59

I got a positive test about 5 days after doing the deed (rediculously early!)

I tested as things tasted funny and I felt naucious.

Was naucious from the onset. Diagnosed with hyperemesis and hospitalised at 6 weeks.

27w now and still chucking my guts up daily 😢

SuseB · 21/11/2018 14:59

Ugh, I am with Bobbiepin, started at 2 weeks - was how I knew I might be pg, hadn't even tested yet as was so early. And had it for 22 wks. Never much actual vomiting, just constant nausea. Wish I could say it got better with other pgs, but it didn't - was the same with all three DC. Birth was a doddle in comparison :(

LaceyLou42 · 21/11/2018 15:08

Oh my word. I feel sick just thinking about it all now!! What us poor women have to go through. All worth it in the end though!

Between 5 and 6 weeks depending on the pregnancy.

emwithme · 21/11/2018 17:09

Nausea started about 5/6 weeks. By 6/7 weeks I was retching if not bringing anything up (Particularly on teeth cleaning). Actual vomiting started week 9. Couldn't go anywhere without a bucket in weeks 10-12 and then it turned off like a switch at 12+3...except I still retch cleaning my teeth now (38+3) but nothing comes up.

Bobbiepin · 21/11/2018 17:09

Yep that was pretty much the only 2 weeks of pregnancy I enjoyed!

DannyWallace · 21/11/2018 17:24

It was my first symptom (not terrible sickness, but I brought up my dinner one night).
Turns out I was 4+5 at that time. I'm quite a sicky person too x

Mikewazowskismrs · 21/11/2018 17:35

One of the lucky ones here that hasnt had it (so far!).

I’m 14 weeks tomorrow

cardboard33 · 21/11/2018 18:31

I wouldn't assume that you'll get morning sickness because you're generally a sicky person. My body's default reaction to most things in life (from excess alcohol to anaesthetic post opp) has been to throw it up to the point I could predict it. However I haven't had any sickness at all whilst pregnant and I'm now approaching the 23 week mark.

I've been very very hungry and realised around the point I got a positive (11 dpo the day I was due) that if I didn't eat every few hours that I felt a bit of nausea but keeping on top of that after realising this early on has meant I've been ok. I always wake up at about 3am needing the loo, eat a banana
that I've taken upstairs with me then which keeps me going till I get up for work, have porridge and then have a second breakfast when I get to work. And keep going like that throughout the day. I've always had a high metabolism so being pregnant has just been an extreme version of that... So in short, don't assume anything!!

PoisonousSmurf · 21/11/2018 18:35

With both my DDs it started about week 6 and went on until 20 weeks!
After that it was just heartburn.

PoisonousSmurf · 21/11/2018 18:36

And even now ( DD2 is 13yrs), I can't even think of or smell peppermint tea.
Reminds me too much of being sick!

Lovingit81 · 21/11/2018 18:46

5 weeks and lasted all pregnancy with both of mine. It was awful but totally worth it! X

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 21/11/2018 19:01

Never, I was lucky.

Essexgirlupnorth · 21/11/2018 20:08

First time about 6 weeks went about 12 weeks. Was only actually sick a handful of times.

This time I started feeling nauseous the day after I got a positive pregnancy test but did think it was all in my head. Now 6 weeks and have been sick a few times. It is worse if I am hungry. Been ok at work but keep eating

DramaAlpaca · 21/11/2018 20:12

DC1 about 9 weeks
DC2 at 12 weeks, kicked in as soon as I stopped breastfeeding DC1
DC3 about 5 weeks

In all cases it didn't stop until between 18 & 20 weeks. I used to feel nauseous all day then puke in the evening. It wasn't fun.

sanityisamyth · 21/11/2018 20:27

I never had a single day of feeling sick but I did have SPD from about 4 months. Good luck for a similarly easy pregnancy!

RandomMess · 21/11/2018 20:32

Before my period was late!!! So 10 days post conception?

Fortunately not dreadful just feeling nauseous and unwell rather than vomiting.

craftinglife · 21/11/2018 21:34

And even now ( DD2 is 13yrs), I can't even think of or smell peppermint tea.

This is what happened to me with all things ginger! I was told that ginger helps with the sickness so I drank ginger green tea, flat ginger beer, ginger biscuits etc None of them actually helped and now I have just ruined ginger forever. It used to be one of my favourite things as well

Anyat212 · 21/11/2018 22:43

As a lot of PP have said mine kicked right in at week 6 and is still going strong at week 19 Sad

I felt quite down in my first trimester and spent a lot of time crying because I felt so terrible and barely kept anything down, lost weight and just felt like shit! It’s literally like a hangover and feeling completely drained! Now I’m in the second trimester it’s sad to say but I’ve just got used to it now, I’m sick maybe once a day still (im on tablets too) but at the height of it was atleast 3.. 8 times one day.

Work wise I’ve had 3 weeks off in a chunk, 1 week holiday and I’ve just had another few days. Unfortunately it can’t be helped - I’ve worked crazy hours before and I’m happy to work from home when feeling up to it so my employer is very suportive.

Good luck though OP - you may be one of them lucky ones who dodges the sickness and just glows!!
