I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the thought of not having a hot bath for a long time is really getting to me!!

They are my favourite!!!

Anyone else missing things they cannot have? Smile

Why would you not have a bath?

Hermones1 · 18/11/2018 17:02

Because they raise your body temp, I have mine ultra hot

Obviously not saying you should, but I didn’t give up hot baths during any pregnancy. I relied on them for back pain. Not a great idea if you’re feeling faint though.

Beckyv88 · 18/11/2018 17:06

I still have them but just not too hot. More like warm.

TheLionQueen1 · 18/11/2018 17:10

I had baths all the way through my pregnancy but just dropped the temperature, as I'm the same normally have them really hot and very regularly! Baby was a big fan of baths, was the time he was most active, is a very odd thing to see your stomach wriggling around so much!!

NickyNora · 18/11/2018 17:10

I think someone has been teasing you!Grin

Shazafied · 18/11/2018 17:11

I love a nearly scalding bath but can’t bear a “warm” one, so did without baths during pregnancy x

mybumpismostlypudding · 18/11/2018 17:13

I've been super cautious so far, but I'm having warm baths but not super hot! I know it's not as good though Sad

dalmatianmad · 18/11/2018 17:15

Why can't you have a bath when you're pregnant? Is this some crazy new advice? 🙄

DraculaAD1972 · 18/11/2018 17:17

I had loads of hot baths when pregnant with my second. He was huge and the bath was one of the only ways to feel comfortable

CherryPavlova · 18/11/2018 17:19

Of course you can have baths. Don’t be daft. Baths are brilliant when it all feels heavy and aching. Baths are brilliant in early labour - super warm is good pain relief.

Bigonesmallone3 · 18/11/2018 17:20

Baths are fine, if it's hot enough to make ur arse red then it's too hot!
Baths cool down quickly, unlike hot tubs which are the main thing u have to avoid..

HungryChocoHippo · 18/11/2018 17:20

I also had baths during all my pregnancies including my current one, I was never told not to have one unless your waters break. If the idea of not having a bath is difficult for you, you could try having one a bit less hot...

SoyDora · 18/11/2018 17:20

You can have baths. Even if you have it scalding hot, the temperature reduces as you’re lying in it. The reason jacuzzis etc aren’t recommended is because the water temperature is kept consistently high.
As long as it’s not so hot that you feel light headed or dizzy it’s fine.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 18/11/2018 17:21

Definitely enjoy a bath, but just don’t have it too hot. If your skin goes red or you sweat, it’s too hot.

Pascha · 18/11/2018 17:21

Of course you can have a bath! Just take the temp down a notch. I had many many baths in pregnancy.

SadieContrary · 18/11/2018 17:21

I loved baths during my pregnancy and had about 5 a day forwards the end! My DC is a total water baby now too, I like to think my pregnancy habit contributed to that Grin

rebelrosie12 · 18/11/2018 17:22

I think it's just so you don't faint. I bathed as normal and got up slowly.

Sexnotgender · 18/11/2018 17:25

Im 31 weeks and have a hot bath most nights. It helps ease my fat aching body.

Hermones1 · 18/11/2018 17:30

OK IM RUNNING ONE RIGHT NOW!!

I was told not to have one!!!!!

Thank you everyone

Sexnotgender · 18/11/2018 17:31

Who told you?

TheMagicTorch · 18/11/2018 17:33

I use a baby thermometer for my baths! Like a previous poster my baby wriggles away when I'm having a nice bath and it eases my back. Enjoy!

Hermones1 · 18/11/2018 17:35

My wife told me not too, but that's because she knows how hot I have them!

OP posts:
Stephisaur · 18/11/2018 17:44

You can have them, just ensure you don’t overheat yourself.

I’ve just had them at the normal temperature but left the bathroom door open and had drinking water to hand if needed.

MrsC87 · 18/11/2018 18:55

I saw the Doc on Friday and whilst there asked the very same thing and yes baths and apparently hot tubs are okay!
I love having a bath 👍🏻
