Google says:

If 5 finger widths of your baby's head is felt, it is written as 5/5 palpable or 'unengaged'.
If 4 finger widths of your baby's head is felt, it is written as '4/5' palpable or 1/5 engaged.
If 3 finger widths of your baby's head is felt, it is written as '3/5' palpable or 2/5 engaged.
If 2 finger widths of your baby's head is felt, it is written as '2/5' palpable or 3/5 engaged.
If 1 finger width of your baby's head is felt, it is written as '1/5' palpable or 4/5 engaged.
If your baby's head cannot be felt it is written as 'fully engaged' or 'not palpable'.

Most babies become 2 to 3 fifths engaged (or 2 to 3 fifths palpable) before labour commences, only becoming fully engaged during labour. If your baby is very active they may move 'in and out' of different levels of engagement during the last few weeks of the pregnancy, especially if this is not your first baby.

How long have you got to go?

we think we are having a little girl
ive had quite a difficult pregnancy with bad sickness in the first trimester lost a stone and half in about 7 weeks.
but the sickness stopped when i got past the first stage thank goodness about 18weeks
had slight bleeding and cramps at the start too, thought i was going to have a mc had emergency scan at 7 weeks and there the baby was little heart beating and everything !!
turns out the cramping was just growing pains the dr told me they can be quite bad in 1st pregnancys
i was fine and very well in the middle of the pregnancy and im quite well now just feeling a bit uncomfy feels like ive been pregnant forever.
i imagine its a lot easier 2nd time round because youve been there and know what to expect.
i bt your 2nd birth will be even easier x

Kittenbaby - why don't you come and join the July antenatal thread. There are lots of us due at the same time and we have 3 July babies born already!

Darciesmum · 20/06/2007 10:50

I was fully engaged 5 days before labour started

kittenbaby · 20/06/2007 11:27

they told us at the 20 week scan the baby is a girl and also we had a 4dscan at 26 weeks where they also said little girl

thats a good point that you'll have a toddler to cope with while being pregnant adds a whole new element doesnt it !
that is something i have thought about that our little one with be one of the younger ones in the class but i didnt think about that b4 trying to concieve! got married in august and just thought right lets get making a baby !!
yeah also you dont want the labour to do too fast you dont want to have the baby in the car on the way to the hospital or anything!!
did you know you where having a little boy or was it a suprise ?
its nice chatting to upbeat people

catz thanks ill check out the july threads x

darcies mum thanks for your input
i guess what i want is for someone to tell me when the baby will come ! which i know is silly and impossible even for the professionals !
just strange thinking baby could come today or nearly 4 and a half weeks

xx

hi my job you are very lucky looking younger than you are, bet its funny when people make comments to you about you being young and then your like actually......im 23 and have been married for 2 years!
they end up looking silly xx
im 29 ill be 30 in sept so its quite nice to have the baby just before i hit that milestone
lots of my friends are moaning about becoming 30 obviously my school friends are also approaching 30 as well and there all moaning going ... i cant believe it, i dont feel nearly 30 etc
but i can honestly say this is the happiest time of my life
i feel great about where im at in life and im perfctly happy turning 30
think thats why some people dont like milestone bdays they can kinda make you assess your life !
got pregnant straight almost straight away! which was fab but kinda a shock ive had problem periods for years once my periods stopped for 7 months for no reason they did loads of tests on me [from early menopause to cancer tests!!] but couldnt find a reason for it ! then when they started again by themseleves they would only come once every 2 months and i thought it would take years to get pregnant even 2 drs told me i may need help
it will be interesting to see if i have a normal cycle after having the baby ! it really used to piss my off only having a period once very 2 months because i knew i wanted children and it kinda means you only have 6 chances in a year really!, but when ive got one it will be fine if not good only having to bother with periods once every 2 months
xx

its nice your sisters coming with you next time does she want to se what its alla bout ? xx

hi myjob yeah its lovely going swimming be even nicer in the sea somewhere hot and sunny that really must be fab
ah somewhere like barbados zzzzzzzz dream xx

im hoping to be able to bf but i havent had any drop of milk yet, dont know if its a bad sign
i do find it quite off puting that some people are bf bossies!!
or the also the one that think its gross to do it in public
seems like you can really win whatever you do
what did you do with ds?
i think in an ideal world id bf at home and dh can do 1 ff a day in the eve so i can have a rest and he can join in
as feeding the baby is one of the nicest jobs imo
not sure if i fancy being pumped
also ive only brought one pk or nappies so far !just pampers cuz i had a coupon
suppose that will one last about 1 day !!!
what sort of nappies did you use?
