Am I going to have an early scan too early?!

Hi ladies.

I am on a lot of these threads so some of your ladies might have already read my concerns.
I will be 6 weeks and 2 days based on my LMP on Thursday which is when my early scan is. I miscarried in August which is why I'm having an early scan. Am I actually going to be a lot less than this as I have no idea when ovulation happened? Am I wasting my time this week?!

It's Thursday :)

@Flatwhite32 aww thank you. I'd be happy to go back as would break up the twelve weeks more hahaha xx

I had one at just over 6 weeks (based on two weeks before ovulation date - I have crazy long cycles so no point basing it on LMP for me!) due to some bleeding, and saw the sac etc. No heartbeat at that stage but they said that everything was fine and as expected for 6 weeks. Went back at just over 8 weeks for another check and saw the heartbeat!

So I’d be tempted to go (it really does break up the 12 weeks!) but don’t worry too much if you don’t see a heartbeat at the 6 week one. Hope it goes well, whatever you decide to do!

Delilah7 · 12/11/2018 18:38

@Drizzlycake thanks lovely! I think I'll be excited to just hear someone else say yes your pregnant! X

I went for an early scan thinking I was about 6 + 4 weeks and they couldn't see anything except the sac.
I went home completely devastated as I have had a previous miscarriage. After about 3 weeks decided to go back as I couldn't wait any longer and there was the heartbeat.
My due date was a week later than I thought and this continued throughout the pregnancy.
Then my beautiful daughter was born the day before my original date.

So don't worry if you can't see anything at an early scan but I think if I have another baby I will wait until after 8 weeks.

Delilah7 · 12/11/2018 18:52

@ellie228 yeah I will probably do the same. Just want to hear that ' I'm pregnant' from someone else I guess. Even if it's just the sac! what should I expect to maybe see?

They could only see the yolk sac but said everything looked okay, that was at about 6 weeks.
I just panicked due to having had a missed miscarriage before but everything was fine.

Delilah7 · 12/11/2018 19:11

@ellie228 I would even just like to hear that. I only got to be pregnant for a week last time so x

I do think 6 weeks is a bit early if i'm honest. I've seen a heartbeat that early and then lost it which was really upsetting. It was my second loss in a row.

I know it seems an eternity but i'd avoid going before 8 weeks again.

PretendNothing · 15/11/2018 17:23

How did it go, @Delilah7?

Delilah7 · 15/11/2018 17:54

I'm measuring 4/5 weeks :(. Gestational sack and yolk sack but that's it. She said everything looks good though. So scared. Go back in 29th.

@Delilah7 don't be scared, seeing a yolk sac is a good thing! That's the stage before the Fetal pole, which develops nearer 6 weeks.

Delilah7 · 15/11/2018 19:20

@fee1234 just don't wanna be ridiculous amount of weeks off! X

PretendNothing · 15/11/2018 19:53

A yolk sac is a really good sign! Will keep fingers crossed for you.

Delilah7 · 15/11/2018 20:13

@PretendNothing I hope so x

@delilah I’m in the same boat at the moment, and the waiting is horrid. Due back in on the 27th. Just wanted to say best of luck. I keep repeating to myself, “early dates are hard and based on what they saw, they weren’t concerned”. It doesn’t take the worry away but helps get through the nights! I think it’s ok to be a mixture of scared sad and hopeful!!! (We are pregnant and emotionally varied anyway 🤣) Here if you want to chat. Take care xx

madamdarkin · 17/11/2018 21:36

@Delilah7 Please don't stress! Just been through this!

I know when I'd ovulated (OPKs) and my partner I are in a long distance relationship and didn't see each other for two weeks after the few days post ovulation. So my dates were spot on!

Went for scan at 6+3 and it was an empty gestational sac, no yolk! Was so stressed and went mad. GP told me never to scan before 8 weeks.

Second scan a nearly two weeks later and there was heartbeat and baby and all fine!

Sometimes implantation can take longer and the miracle that is life just can't always measure up in human terms.

I will never go for such an early scan again!

Hugs xox

@Delilah7, hope you're doing OK. Just wanted to share another positive story. I've been in the same boat as you and madamdarkin these last two weeks, went in at 6 weeks exactly and only a gestational sac was seen. I've just been back at 8 weeks exactly and baby was there, heart beating away, measuring 8 weeks and 1 day. I know the waiting is really tough, but don't give up hope xxx

madamdarkin · 20/11/2018 11:01

@PretendNothing congrats! Huge relief isn't it xx

PretendNothing · 20/11/2018 11:07

Thank you @madamdarkin, and congratulations to you too! I cried with relief when the image came up.

Delilah7 · 20/11/2018 11:47

@PretendNothing is this based on your LMP? Says I'm 7 weeks today but obviously unsure that I actually am!! How lovely for you though xx

It's an awful feeling isn't it, almost like you are in limbo. I was in the same position earlier on this year - I had an ectopic pregnancy last year so went for an early scan and got the same response, sac was there but said I was too early to see anything else, (There was a girl there who is due 3 days before me and could see heartbeat at her scan, so I spent the 2 weeks worried sick!) went back 2 weeks later and his little heartbeat was there fluttering away. Hope all works out for you, I know it's easier said than done, but worrying won't change anything, try and enjoy your pregnancy and congratulations ❤️xxxx

PretendNothing · 20/11/2018 21:14

@Delilah7, yes, I'm 8 weeks exactly based on my LMP and measured at 8w1d. Everything crossed for you.

schnickles glad you got a positive outcome too!

sachabloom · 21/11/2018 13:37

How are you @Delilah7 x

Delilah7 · 21/11/2018 13:39

@sachabloom getting annoyed that I have to wait 20 mins for my bloody results lol. You x x
