Being asked if pregnancy was planned?!

Just got to get this down. I have been asked two or three times now whether our third pregnancy was planned. Wtaf? One was by a mum in the playground (she's really nice and clearly didn't see anything wrong with asking) and I've just been asked again today by a man from a very reputable nationwide removals company. Within five minutes of coming it he decided it was ok to ask me 'whether it was planned or a surprise'. I mean, it's rude, invasive and you are literally asking about whether my husband and I had a slip up with our contraception! I answered that the most surprising this was being asked that question! As it happens it was very much planned but that isn't the point! Why should I be asked that question!

@1Wanda1 that's brilliant - did they think you had experienced an immaculate conception? Honestly!

If someone says 'happy?' I might actually explode.

@mellongoose I'd just not answer the question. I think I'd just ignore the question and go on to say how happy you both are. Good luck today and congratulations!

So after work had said congratulations she followed it up with "soooo, is this happy news?"

Aaargh! Told you! I said we were over the moon and left it at that. 😊

How bizarre @mellongoose! People can be so strange! Now you can relax at least Smile

I've only been asked this once but it is rude. Tbh I'm shocked how many people think it's okay to ask really personal questions about pregnancy. After I got married sooo many people asked me if we were planning to have children - for all they know we could have fertility issues or something.

No one actually asked outright but I was often asked 'Are you pleased?' followed by the statement that I 'must want a boy'. I had two DDs already and would have been very happy with a third!
