Interested in hearing people's labour stories, where were you when you starting getting contractions ?
I'm thinking mine will wake me up in the middle of the night or something 😂

hiplink · 21/10/2018 21:59

The cinema!

GreenMeerkat · 21/10/2018 22:09

In bed both times.

Water broke 6am first time

Woke up about 3am with contractions second time.

Both ended in EMCS so no labour third time as I'm having an ELCS tomorrow!

babypsmum · 21/10/2018 22:24

On my birthing ball, eating an empire biscuit watching Jeremy Kyle when my waters broke. Also had the plumber in fixing the bathroom at the time😂

Neolara · 21/10/2018 22:25

Bed all 3 times.

WalkingTed · 21/10/2018 22:27

hospital car park

RedPandaMama · 21/10/2018 22:33

Woke me up about 2am, managed to sleep in between as contractions were only every 10 minutes or so. Were down to every 5 minutes by 12pm... Then stayed that way for 24 hours. By the time they broke my waters I was so knackered I just wanted to sleep.

cricketmum84 · 21/10/2018 22:37

Baby 1 - in hospital as was induced
Baby 2 - in the car in our way to drop DC1 at nursery, gentle manageable contractions all day until 8pm when they got bad enough to go to hospital.

Both times my waters went as the baby was born. I must produce strong amniotic sacs lol!

annlee3817 · 21/10/2018 22:53

At home, waters started to go in the early hours when I got back into bed after going for a wee. Had DD in my arms before breakfast :)

TwittleBee · 22/10/2018 13:30

Waters broke in bed at 36+5 with DH on the night shift! I had 0 phone signal but luckily some wifi so managed to get my Mum to contact DH's work and she also phoned my Labour Ward to see if I should go in!

Wasn't in established labour until on the actual Labour Ward a good half day later

funinthesun18 · 22/10/2018 15:08

School run!

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 22/10/2018 15:37

Woke up at 1am in a puddle, said to DH "Either my waters have gone or I have wet myself A LOT". It was waters and it did not stop! I was 39 weeks and had literally no signs before that. It was a super moon that night; I swear the moon did it!! DS came out covered it hair so we called him our little werewolf for a while Grin

I was overdue with all three of mine so given a sweep. I didn’t venture too far from home knowing labour was imminent therefore was at home all three times. With dc2 I had an extremely calm birth, I just breathed through the contractions and got to hospital half an hour before she was born- it was great!

OutPinked · 22/10/2018 15:53

Oh and my waters didn’t go until I was pushing all three of them out.

powercutie · 22/10/2018 15:54

First child, contractions woke me up in the early morning. I was asleep dreaming, and I kept getting this pain and sleepily turning over. Eventually I woke up enough to realise what was happening and nearly died with excitement. They steadily built up to full on painful contractions throughout the day.

Second child, I got the first small contractions in a Thai restaurant lol sat across from my mother! I knew from experience that I have a long build up phase so though continued about our evening and went to see a Nick Cave movie in the cinema. Took about 24 hours before they got serious - the first killer contraction woke me up from my midnight nap. I remember thinking "oh holy mother of fuck, I'd forgotten how much this hurts!"

SilverbytheSea · 22/10/2018 15:57

Chippy when my waters broke, no puddle or anything but my leggings were soaking!! Got induced the following day as no contractions

BalancingStick · 22/10/2018 16:22

DC1 - at work, waters broke spectacularly and then dribbled everywhere as I made my way out the building (they were fuckers so I'm hoping I stained the carpet )
DC2 - in Starbucks. Felt mild period pain as I started a cup of tea. By the time I'd finished I was having proper contractions. She was born an hour later - only just made it to hospital. She was very nearly delivered in the car

53rdWay · 22/10/2018 16:31

In hospital, was in for monitoring. Was told it was Braxton-Hicks not real contractions. Went home, watched TV, timed ‘Braxton-Hicks’ as they got closer and closer together, then called hospital back when they were 3 mins apart and my waters broke.

Place marking! Love these threads

EvieV28 · 22/10/2018 18:34

In bed, woke up in the middle of the night with back pain. Kept trying to go back to sleep then realised it was coming and going every few minutes, turned out to be contractions!

WhirlingTurkey · 22/10/2018 18:53

I was loading/unloading the washing machine when my waters broke. Induced the following day as I was only having very mild/sporadic contractions after 24hrs.

Armygirl · 22/10/2018 19:42

Woke up in bed with the pop of my waters breaking on all 3.
Due number 4 dec so hoping it’s the same 😊

CookieSwirlC · 22/10/2018 19:45

Dd1 in bed, after no signs I got woken up by a contraction.

Dd2 felt my waters bulging when shopping in Tesco’s, thankfully they waited until I was home in my hallway before going! Contractions failed to start so ended up induced with the pessary the next day.

sohypnotic · 22/10/2018 19:49

No contractions, waters broke when getting up for a wee at 4am...2 days before my planned c-section

MrsTumbletap · 22/10/2018 19:49

Round my friends having lunch, but couldn't eat anything weirdly, kept wanting to stand as I thought I had a weird back ache, so went home to rest.

Noticed I had a show and DS arrived 3 hours later.
