All Terrain Pram? Help!

Merrz · 17/10/2018 13:42

I'm totally baffled on which pram to go for Confused I live on a farm and also do a lot of off road (mainly through forest paths) dog walking. I've been recommended to go for a 3 wheel pushchair for this reason. Think i've narrowed it down to Jane Trider, iCandy Peach all Terrain or Maxi cosi Nova 3. Anyone had or got any of these or got any recommendations? None of the shops near me stock any of these so i can't go and try any out Sad

Personally I'd sling baby for dog walks and just get a "normal" pram.

DartmoorDoughnut · 17/10/2018 13:49

Out n About Nipper or Mountain Buggy are both very popular around here with dog walkers/farmers wish I’d heard of them way back when! I like parent facing though and I’m not sure either of those do that long term

BlessedbetheFruitLoops2 · 17/10/2018 13:53

I have the icandy peach all terrain and it’s well worth the money. We have been on endless walks through the woods on and off paths and it was great in the snow too (we get a lot as we r in the Cairngorms) only problem I had was I got a slow puncture once from a long thorn, but it was an easy and cheap fix at the local bike shop (think £5)

I love my Jane trider (and lie flat car seat which is brilliant!), I live on a farm and it’s great for all different terrains, it’s very easy to clean too! I would, however, also suggest a sling for dog walks, it’s what I use to go on long walks but that’s my personal preference and the baby sleeps better in a sling!

I've got a 17 month old and just had baby number 2 so needed a double. I bought the Out n About Nipper - this pram is excellent - big, bouncy wheels, unbelievable suspension, lightweight to push but durable, plenty of pockets and basket space. There is an optional carrycot attachment which I opted for for my baby, and my little boy has a roomy, comfy forward facing seat.

Wish I had bought it when my little boy was born first time around and can't recommend it highly enough. Sounds like it may fit your requirements and then some 😁

Thanks for the replies, i think i will definitely get a sling too. I love the idea of the Jane lie flat car seat, not sure i would actually use it in the lie flat position in the car (i would rarely be driving for more than 20 mins or so) but seems so handy that you don't need a separate carrycot.

Sounds like the Out n About Nipper is a good option too

@Matilda do you find the Jane Trider very heavy? Some reviews i've come across said it is?

I have an iCandy All Terrain and not a huge fan TBH. It's cumbersome and the push isn't great on anything but smooth surfaces. The tyres also constantly deflate (no puncture). I'm having another child so I have just bought a secondhand double buggy - the mountain buggy duet. Also considered the out and about nipper, but that only parent faces with the carrycot. Mountain Buggy can parent face longer.

rebelrosie12 · 17/10/2018 15:29

Out n about nipper without a doubt.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 17/10/2018 15:33

I used a sling when she was a baby, now she's heavy at 10 months I use an out and about nipper. It's a great all rounder.

TheWanderlust · 17/10/2018 15:53

Out n About is our go to... having research a stupid amount, they seem to be pretty robust and come in significantly cheaper than many of the other "leading" all-terrain models.

I like pushing the out n about and you can clip a car seat or carry cot on top if so desired.

xyzandabc · 17/10/2018 15:57

It's a few years ago now but I had both the single and double out and about nippers and loved them both.

So easy to push even fully loaded. Loads of pockets, can perch an extra toddler on the footplate if required. (Or school age if they fall over and graze their knee on the way home from school and think their leg us about to fall off!)

Good on all terrains, sand, mud, woodland, gravel, grass, tarmac.

Did I mention easy to push?

GlitterRollerSkate · 17/10/2018 16:05

I've got an out and about nipper and it's great. Just watch the bottom basket when going through deep mud. Can't think of a time when I've struggled (farm/woods/ect.) Its pretty light too. Friend has a mountain buggy and likes that.

BikeRunSki · 17/10/2018 18:11

Another for the Out n About Nipper.

SpottingTheZebras · 17/10/2018 18:12

I’d also recommend the Out n About.

Merrz · 17/10/2018 19:31

Thanks for all the replies, sounds like the Out n About Nipper is the main contender

I've got the bugaboo buffalo which doesn't blink at anything off-road. Not the same model but I had a maxi cosi Stella originally. I really liked the pram and it coped really well over all terrains however it broke twice in 6 months. The first time they replaced it the second they gave me a full refund and I ended up getting the buffalo. It was annoying issues like the wheel locks getting stuck on and then the brake failing!

Matilda1981 · 18/10/2018 00:04

Hi, no, I don’t find it heavy, I can get the pram base out of my car and open it up one handed!

You say you won’t go more than 20 minutes in a car but it’s not just that that the lie flat car seat is handy for - if you have this car seat and your baby falls asleep they can stay in for as long as they stay asleep - babies are only supposed to be in a normal car seat for a maximum of 2 hours. I know that if my baby falls asleep I can happily leave her in the car seat when we either get to our destination or get home.

SiolGhoraidh · 18/10/2018 04:27

Another vote for the nipper here. Really light, easy to steer and good for dog walking. I'm still finding random pockets in it too.

On the downside it's bulky when folded down and takes up a lot of room

Embobolina88 · 18/10/2018 08:14

We have a Quinny and it was fantastic anywhere and everywhere! Would highly recommend

Merrz · 18/10/2018 09:41

What car seats did everyone use with the Out n About Nipper?

OP posts:
TheWanderlust · 18/10/2018 10:45

You can get Maxi-Cosi car seat adapters which also fit the Cybex Range... we're looking at the Cybex Cloud Q as it lies flat

Merrz · 19/10/2018 10:35

So i've decided to go with the Out n About Nipper and Cybex Cloud Z car seat (upgrade from Cloud Q) I figure i won't need a carrycot since the car seat lies flat i can just use it and will get a sling to use for longer dog walks/on the farm. Thanks for all the replies and recommendations.
