Gigs and Concerts whilst pg - what's the deal?

Thank goodness for Mumsnet - I'd be grateful for any first hand experience you ladies may have...?

I'm due to attend a gig with my DH when I will be 7 months pg. It is in a small, sweaty club and the band in question are very loud and shouty, and it is fair to say that there is a fair amount of dancing (especially near te front) when they play.

My DH is now doing a whole 'I don't think you should go' thing, despite the fact that I have said I will stand right at the back so as not to be 'jostled'.

If I feel OK, do you think I should go? How did you guys feel at 7 months? it will only be for an hour and a bit, max.

any tips?

i went to festivals and gigs, think you'll be fine! Baby loved it too, plenty of kicking (or does that mean he hated it LOL)

I went to lots of gigs and festivals when preggers. To be honest it was worst ealier on in the pregnancy as I had horrible sickness for the entire 9months... in fact I vommed spagetti out my nose when seeing TurboNegro at 4months gone.

Little festivals like Truck are nice as you dont tend to have to queue for loo's when I went to Reading at 7months pregnant it was hard work... by the time i had got to the front of the queue to wee it was time to join it again for the next one My mum told me to pack a Tena lady incontinence pad just in case

My favourite preggars gig memory is seeing The Lemonheads at Sheppherds Bush at 6months ... we got seats (which we never do) and I was grateful as it was a lovely way to see the show without being jostled about. My little 'un likes listening to "Its a Shame about Ray" still now.

The only advice I have would be to avoid the bar area and getting too near the front, although most people are curtious you want to avoid getting knocked about whilst being knocked up

Saw Duran Duran when only just pregnant with DS (so guess that doesn't really count, but shows my age eh??) and saw Muse at Wembley last November when 8 months pregnant with DD. The only problem I had at the 2nd gig was everybody else telling me I shouldn't go!! The worst bit actually was the long drive home in the car afterwards. Had a fab time otherwise. DS and DD now equally happy with Mum's CD's/Radio in the car as with typical nursery rhymes.....

I went to see SalsaCeltica at 6 months and the bump wriggled along in time while I danced. It was great! I'm still going to my salsa classes at 34 weeks and loving it. I can't see any harm in going to a gig as long as you keep out of the mosh pit ;-)

I'm 29 weeks pg with ds3 and i went to see Muse last night at Wembley (and it was a fabulous show for anyone whose interested!) We were seated, otherwise i wouldn't go and like everybody elses lo, mine was jumping around to the music like he was in the mosh himself lol .

I went to quite a few gigs while pregnant. One at about 7 months similar to what you describe holly - stayed at the back and tried to avoid the smokers as much as possible! I was absolutely fine, hardest part was standing up for so long, my back was killing by the end! But if you're well I don't see any probs with going.

I went to Belle and Sebastian at 3 months and Richard Ashcroft at about 6 or 7, felt safer when obviously pregnant as people do look out for you. Did have a seat at the 2nd though and only jigged a little but that was more to do with having just finished a 12 hour shift. Luckily smoking ban came in in scotland while i was preg so smokers no prob.

I went to see McClusky when 7 months pregnant.

they are about as loud and shouty as you get and it was in that old sweatbox the 100 club.

Great night

ds kicked the living sh*t out of me though!!!!

Gig going is part of my job so I did a big old variety of when pregnant.I found the smaller venues a bit much after a bit as they do get so smokey (Hurrah not a problem for much longer)I felt uncomfortable about breathing it all in so did tend to avoid those after a while. And also when just getting that bump but not that noticeable to anyone else i felt very protective of it. Apart from that would echo everyone went out of their way to look out for me. My highlight was Primals at the Astoria nearly 8 months gone - brilliant ,and ds slept the whole way thro. Hopefully it's had an effect. He claps in time at baby bounce

I went to see Kathryn Williams and Clayhill when 6 months pregnant and baby loved it, although it was a very civilised seated gig with three other pregnant women there. However I also went to see the Chilli Peppers when 8 months pregnant at Hyde Park. I was the only person allowed to take a camping chair with me to sit on and my husband was so protective it was a delight!

HeeHee last time I went to a "party" (rave?) and was up from 9pm til about 3/4 am, slept in the back of a car the n got up at 6 am to go and have brekkie in McD's (boohissboo!!!)
I was about 8 months pregnant
Bump loved it LOL

There was an outside bit to go an sit and watch poi dancers etc but it didn't seem to do any harm, in fact she's a big music lover and dances all the time, I say give it as much music as you can handle!!

I'd not been told not to go and just took necessary precations (i.e: Loads of water and jaffa cakes LOL)
If you're fit and healthy otherwise, I don't see why not!!
