Waters gone but no contractions...being induced

My waters went yesterday at 38+0 but I'm not having any contractions

They said I'll be induced today if it didn't start naturally and I've had nothing

I'm terrified. This is my first baby and they said I'll have to have continuous monitoring and a drip to start labour

I wanted a water birth and no epidural but it looks like it'll be the exact opposite 😩

Help!

Unfortunately he's now also on antibiotics as he started grunting a lot and had a slight fever, poor boy 😢

It's good that they are being cautious. Is it the 5 day course?

polkadotpixie · 08/09/2018 00:26

I'm not sure yet. He has to have them by IV at 2am and 2pm and they have sent off blood cultures which should be back in 48 hours. I assume when they find out if there is an infection present they'll decide whether & how long he needs them

Hopefully it's nothing and we can go home on Monday

Enjoy your new baby.

DS birth was the complete opposite of how I wanted/planned. I hope you are both home very very soon x

How are you two doing this morning?

He didn't have the best night, very restless but he's feeding better today which is good! Just waiting for my husband to arrive at the hospital to take over for a bit so I can grab some sleep!

This is exactly what happened to me.

My waters broke early hours of the morning while I was asleep in bed and I was told to go down to maternity ward straight away to be checked. I thought I'd be coming back home as I had contractions but they ended up keeping me in to be monitored. The most annoying thing for me was, I was due to be induced 48hrs after as they told me anything longer wouldn't be good for baby, I started to go into labour naturally but it had already been 43hrs. Even though I was in labour, I was still in the early stages so I had to be induced anyway to speed it up. I was so gutted as I wanted to have a water birth but I had to be strapped up to the bed on several drips. Some people don't mind bed births so I'm sure if your one of those people you'll be absolutely fine. I just didn't like been stuck on a bed Hmm I said I didn't want any pain relief but within 30 mind of the induced contractions I had everything I could and r was bloody amazing!

I was induced with baby no1 at 38 weeks due to bleeding throughout pregnancy they were concerned, I had a pressury but no contractions the next day (over 24hours) they examined me and I was 3cm they decided to break my waters and put me on a drip. 7 and abit hours later I was holding my blue eyes boy in my arms . baby no2 a week later no induction waters went naturally. both experiences wernt as bad a sid imagined them. I hope Op youd holiding your bundle of joy by now xx
