Waters gone but no contractions...being induced

My waters went yesterday at 38+0 but I'm not having any contractions

They said I'll be induced today if it didn't start naturally and I've had nothing

I'm terrified. This is my first baby and they said I'll have to have continuous monitoring and a drip to start labour

I wanted a water birth and no epidural but it looks like it'll be the exact opposite 😩

Help!

I'm being checked again at 5 to see if I've progressed. I'm not massively hopeful though. I'm now on IV antibiotics for a possible infection too so I think I might end up with an EMCS too

Good luck !

Thanks. I'm 6cm now so they're giving me another 4 hours

Thinking of you!

Namethecat · 06/09/2018 18:10

Good luck. Try to rest up a bit. Don't forget to update when baby arrives 🌸🌸🌸

Baby Max Joseph eventually arrived at 23:02 weighing 6lbs 9oz

Unfortunately 56 hours after my waters broke and after 27 hours on the hormone drip, I still wasn't dilating past 7cm and had to have an emergency C section

Baby managed to twist himself during removal and tear my womb so it had to be removed from my body and stitched up before being put back but I'm doing fine now although the doctors say any future children will need to be born by ELCS as the scar tissue won't stand up to a VBAC

Thank you all so much for your support! 😊

How is your baby doing?

KIMv · 07/09/2018 04:44

Congratulations on your baby! You did it after a very long and complicated birth! You're amazing to get through all of that Flowers

polkadotpixie · 07/09/2018 05:16

Baby is absolutely fine, thank you!

I'm in the maternity high dependency unit at the moment due to the complex C section and the fact I have a fever so they are keeping a close eye on me in case I'm developing sepsis but all being well we should be moved to a normal postnatal ward tomorrow 😊

Congratulations op!
Sorry it wasn’t the birth you hoped for but enjoy those lovely new born snuggles. So glad he’s arrived safely. X

Oh bless you, what a hectic birth but you seem in good spirits considering so you must be a strong woman! Congratulations on your son, I bet he's beautiful.

moose234 · 07/09/2018 08:46

Congratulations,

I contracted sepsis post birth after my induction than emergency c section, they are really good at looking after you and I had to have IV antibiotics! Hopefully they are looking after you

Eatmycheese · 07/09/2018 08:50

Oh my goodness!
congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy.
That was quite an experience all in all then with the delivery. Wishing you a speedy recovery and enjoy those amazing newborn snuggles.
A few years and three babies later I still remember how unique their scent was and the first grip from those tiny fingers like it was only seconds ago. So precious.

Well done x

polkadotpixie · 07/09/2018 09:31

Yes, the midwives, doctors and theatre staff have all been amazing throughout. I can't fault the care we've received at all from start to finish 😊

I'm so glad your baby is ok. I had a similar experience and my poor DD had to have IV antibiotics herself.

polkadotpixie · 07/09/2018 10:09

Yes, luckily they're not concerned about him as his temperature is normal. He is having 4 hourly obs but doesn't need antibiotics or anything as I had them twice during labour so they say he's covered 😊
