Please no ginger! Hate it!

With DS1, I was sick about 6/7 times a day until 20 weeks, then once a week then on. For personal reasons, I didn't take medication last time. But this time, I'm not planning on being so heroic. However, I would like to try and see if I can keep it under control before it really kicks in or before I try medication.

So,
Ice poles are top of the list so far... that's about it.

Any ideas?

Rennies helped me. And salted rice cakes.

Fevertree · 22/08/2018 12:05

Digestives or hob nobs for eating as soon as you wake up. Milk and fruit. Best of luck, hope it passes soon! X

White bread toast. Cans of coke. Grapes.

user1906 · 22/08/2018 12:14

Salted pringles and mini cheddars, i lived on them for weeks!

emelsie · 22/08/2018 12:57

Always filled up water bottles and put them in the freezer , could stomach freezing icy water much better than any other liquids, still feeling nauseous now at nearly 28 weeks but nothing like the first 20 , food wise there has been nothing that has worked consistently for me, changes throughout.
Also had sickness bands , don't know if they really worked but had them on religiously the first few months , always worth a try . Smile

Refreshers sweets & softmints!

RosiePosies · 22/08/2018 13:11

I'm waiting for mine to fully kick in - was 6 weeks yesterday and it's starting to creep up on me.

So far I have crackers, fizzy water, vitamin b6, I've stocked up on ready cooked mashed potato, and i've been constantly sipping hot water and lemon and find it quite soothing.

SomebodysNotInBedYet · 22/08/2018 14:28

Coke.
Insulated drinks bottle/flask for iced water.
Salt and Vinegar crisps.

For me the medication did help but I was still in a bad way til about 22 weeks.

Hideandgo · 22/08/2018 14:30

Watermelon.

polkadotpixie · 22/08/2018 15:49

Salt and vinegar crisps
Lemon sherbets
Extra strong mints
Toast
Pasta
Biscuits
Sparkling lemon & lime water
Diet Coke

That (plus anti-sickness medication) was pretty much my diet for the first 18 weeks! I hate ginger too

@RosiePosies 6 weeks yesterday for me too! This morning was my first morning wrenching over the toilet 🤗 (oh how I’ve missed that 🙈) Ended up giving in last time and taking Cyclizine as I started vomiting up clots of blood at 13 weeks....hoping it doesn’t get as bad as that this time! Literally had sickness until 32 weeks and nausea all the way through! Currently I’m craving spaghetti ( specifically spaghetti) and chips 😂

Lumpy76 · 22/08/2018 16:19

Retching not wrenching! 🙄

RosiePosies · 22/08/2018 16:36

@Lumpy76 I'm literally preparing myself a bowl of plain penne as I'm reading your post 😂 not heard of cyclizine - doctor has talked about citirizine though. Did you find it helped when you took it? I think get to your GP and get some ASAP!

Lumpy76 · 22/08/2018 16:53

Hi...it’s another (older type) of antihistamine. I think it did take the edge off. I’ve always been scared of taking stuff in pregnancy so even though I was told I could take (I think is was up to 3 times a day) I only took one in the evening/night when I was really struggling - the blood scared me and that happened late at night!

babypsmum · 22/08/2018 17:29

Polo mints, saved me anytime I had to leave the house.

dinosaurkisses · 22/08/2018 17:37

Fresh fruit, especially nectarines and kiwis. I'm not normally a healthy eater, but I've found the fresh zinginess really helps.

I'm not suffering as much time round as I did with DD- I try to get out ahead of the nausea, so when I start to feel the first wave of sickness I grab a bit of fruit and that can keep it at bay until my next meal.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 22/08/2018 17:40

Oatcakes and Philadelphia cheese

Lumpy76 · 22/08/2018 17:40

@dinosaurkisses I’ve been more sick with my DD’s than my DS’s expect for in my last pregnancy where we were all convinced he was a she due to the sickness!

spugzbunny · 22/08/2018 17:47

Ice lollies is the only thing that did it for me. I liked rowntrees fruit pastille lollies and calypo's!

BikeRunSki · 22/08/2018 17:49

Mini cheddars
Marmite
Grapefruit juice
Sparkling water
Lemon ice lollies
