Not pregnant now but my cravings were with dd1 pickled herring in a sweet sherry marinade then later on gherkins dipped in Nutella. With DD2 I had no cravings but definite food aversion to any hot food or drink, or anything containing meat.

Im not having any cravings id say were weird, mainly wanting ice pops (BUT NO SHOPS ARE STOCKING THEMAngry) and those jubbly things, id rather crisps than chocolate and ive totally lost my appetite, cant eat half as much as what I used to!
Oh and i cant stand the smell of bags for life, Confused

One of the girls I know used to dip mars bars in garlic sauce (like from the chippy), not saying id do it, but I understand her logic! Haha

I used to stare at the bricks on my outside wall thinking ‘could I just go and have a bite on one without anyone thinking I’m weird?’

Also, ice. Used to crunch it all the time

I too suffered from dreadful sickness which went along with smell aversions, but also a few smell cravings/addictions. I developed a dependence on the smell of Listerine Cool Citrus mouthwash (could only be that exact one - hated anything minty). I'd keep a huge bottle next to me to sniff at all times throughout the day. Confused

LittleKitty1985 · 31/08/2018 18:33

I've not had any weird cravings yet (at 14 weeks), which makes me quite sad Sad I feel like I'm missing out on part of the whole pregnancy experience! Did anyone not get any until later on?

NCPuffin · 31/08/2018 19:05

@rampantrose I went to McDonald's with a colleague when I was around 18 weeks. She insisted I try fries dipped in strawberry milkshake and insists it's the best way to have them! Odd thing is I am overweight and pregnant, she's superslim and definitely not pregnant :)

My cravings usually only lasted 3-4 days, leading to cupboards full of random foods I had lost all interest in. The first one was eggs. Also had Greek yoghurt with pineapple (colleague thought I was on a weird diet), full-day strawberry yoghurt, tuna sandwiches, crumpets with cheese and probably loads I've forgotten! Currently it's dark chocolate every evening, but I've been resisting.

Weirdest aversions is a toss up between water in plastic bottles (GP when I was in with suspected cystitis "But you could just drink it from a glass" Sure, but that's a bit tricky in a classroom with 30 kids...) and cooked spinach. The thought of the slimy texture is just too much to handle! Don't think I'll ever voluntarily have ginger biscuits or ginger beer - guilty by association with nausea!

Wow, I didn't realise how common Pica in pregnancy is, on MN at least. Grin

OutPinked · 31/08/2018 20:22

I went off washing powder with DC1 completely. The smell of any brand just made me gip! Hated freshly washed clothes.

With DC2 I craved ice so much so I cracked my front tooth Blush. I used to sit and eat it like people would crisps, 2kg bags some days. Bonus was, I didn’t gain much weight during that pregnancy!

OutPinked · 31/08/2018 20:23

Oh and littlekitty, my cravings only started in the third trimester.

Nutkins24 · 31/08/2018 20:24

I can’t stop crunching ice and I actually really want to suck on my dishcloths with the lovely bleach smell (I haven’t for obvious reasons). The sponge thing sounds appealing!

Waitingonasmiley42 · 31/08/2018 20:26

Another one who chewed sponges here. I also bought a variety of expensive soaps and used to lie in the bath and sniff them. A special treat was rubbing the soap on the sponge and sniffing it.

Verbena87 · 31/08/2018 20:31

@LittleKitty1985 third trimester for me too. And it was the smell of creosote. Would wake up in the night thinking about it!!

Tartyflette · 31/08/2018 20:35

Watercress. It was a real craving and I had to have it every day, a couple of packets at least.
The craving disappeared the very evening I gave birth and DH had already bought me my supply in. I looked at it and thought - meh.
Oh, and another ice cruncher here. Fucking loved it.

3boysandabump · 31/08/2018 20:38

Mine were ds1 - Fanta orange
Ds2 - fabric softener mainly sniffing but I'm ashamed to say I did have a couple of tastes ds3 - muesli
Ds4 - elastic bands (chewing them) and soap (licking it)
🙈

MermaidTail7 · 31/08/2018 20:38

Pints and pints of cold milk has been my craving throughout pregnancy, in my first trimester this was joined by tuna and cheese paninnis melts, and cheese and salt and vinegar crisp sandwiches... Second trimester was mostly craving free apart from the milk, but Thurs trimester has been (caffeine free) lattes... Pre-pregnancy I was a major tea drinker, and could probably count the number of coffees I had in a year on one hand....

Aryam · 31/08/2018 21:57

I had started to have aversion to my favourite food:sausages, for all my pregnancy. Also I’ve started to eat porridge with honey( kilos of porridge and around 6kg of honey in 4 months) 😁

rampantrose · 01/09/2018 09:33

I see lots of aversions too! My 2nd pregnancy I craved bacon fries but the fake bacon taste literally made me sick and I still can't eat anything with artificial bacon flavours! This pregancy so far has been horrific im lucky if I can eat a couple of pieces of bread and butter a day! Hoping it gets better. Was never like this with any of my other pregnancies! Xx
