Suggestions please.

Old fashioned, but not silly. Preferably something isn't easily shortened.

We already have a George (almost a year old)...Tom is on the cards for this one, but not a cert.

Help please!

i loved Barnaby or Barney for my ds, but our surname begins with a B.

What about Rupert? Fred, Miles, James? Jacob?

(I like Tom btw).

luciemule · 02/06/2007 20:03

we had loads of purple dinosaur jokes before we had him, but we'd already chosen his name. I wouldn't laugh at someone if they told me they'd already chosen their baby's name! But now, everyone who hears it loves it and he's so cheeky he couldn't be anything else.

luciemule · 02/06/2007 20:03

fred/freddie is so cute.

smoggie · 02/06/2007 20:07

How about Alex?
We like it - not too populat atm, quite a 'strong' sounding name and difficult to shorten.

maxbear · 02/06/2007 20:07

I had an Edward in March, often called Ed, so that is my fave boys name.

smoggie · 02/06/2007 20:07

'popular'

StinkyPete · 02/06/2007 20:09

peter, simon, andrew, paul, luke

PregnantGrrrl · 02/06/2007 21:13

DP says no to Arthur, and no to Regan.

'Charlie' got a wrinkled nose from DP.

I really can't think of any names i like apart from Tom.

Keep suggesting though- you might come up with something i hadn't considered.

Vaughn!

fillyjonk · 02/06/2007 21:49

i love Tom but can't use it as ds has a similarish name

i have the same criteria as you ex i don't mind shortening. GOD its so much harder for boys, dd was so easy to name.

kerala · 02/06/2007 21:51

I think Hector is really cute!

Just dont go for Tom or Jack. Every boy baby I have met over the last year I swear is called Tom or Jack. 3 Tom's at my playgroup and a small group and Jacks everywhere

TaylorsMummy · 02/06/2007 22:12

We have a Samuel, Stirling and Harold (harry)

Also like Gabriel, Sebastian, Finlay, Patrick (but maybve not with Peach LOL, plus a few B names that you don't want

Personally I think a name that can be shortened is advisable. Kids will do it, one way or t'other, with surname or just a stupid nickname- at least if you pick a shortening that you can live with (if not idolise) thats better than hearing them evermore addressed as something bizarre and incomprehensible whilst their mates simply retreat into Davey or Bas.

Phoenix · 02/06/2007 22:18

We have Lewis James.

WelshBoris · 02/06/2007 22:18

I love the name Alexander for a boy.

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:20

Maxwell

forgot that

almost was DS2 (Dh went into this bizarre gladiator ' I want hime to be a Maximillain' thing so it was just Max as a middle name instead LOL)

WelshBoris · 02/06/2007 22:21

I like Max aswell, Maximillian.

Goes well with DDs name.

I had a few drinks outside the pub this evening so I can't sleep either.
