that's what i need

i mean i have the figure of a middle-aged stockbroker right now (mahoosive belly, no waist), so why not take their lead in the trouser-holding-up department?

ok, maybe they wouldn't look great, but, right now, i'd wear em

Why not buy some middle-aged man braces from the middle-aged man shop.

Ceolas · 01/06/2007 14:03

Oh yes, have spent the day hoiking too.

Bump band helps a bit, but makes me super hot at the same time!

Tutter · 01/06/2007 14:04

have bump bands

they do at least mean i can make it out of the bedroom without trousers falling down, but they're no match for playing-with-toddler antics

I know. Mine are from Blooming Marvellous. Big jersey panel. Am thinking they need some sort of pulling in device at the top. I had such a pair from Mothercare a few years ago.

Tutter · 01/06/2007 14:07

ah - these are close

Songbird · 01/06/2007 14:08

Genius! They wouldn't need to be on the outside of your clothes. [whispers] Noone would ever know!

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/06/2007 14:08

Ah, you see I have enormous norks, so braces bow out around them or curve in to the inside, so would look silly. What dh and I have always said we need to be invented is braces that can clip onto the bottom of your bra and onto your trousers, sort of like a suspender belt, but higher up. I'd pay money for those.

seamonster · 01/06/2007 14:08

But not as amusing as a nice bright pair of braces.

Songbird · 01/06/2007 14:08

I knew the Americans would already have something!

Rock on Tommy [snap!]

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/06/2007 14:10

Oh my god!! They exist! How did you manage to find those Tutter?! I think I'm going to have to get some just to see whether they are any good!

Tutter · 01/06/2007 14:10

for sale on a uk site!

at 32+5 is it a bit late for to be buying these do you reckon?

OP posts:
Ceolas · 01/06/2007 14:12

Maybe, but you need a nursing wrap surely?!

Tutter · 01/06/2007 14:13

i do rather like the look of those ceolas

I'm not even pregnant at the moment but I'm still getting some! I have huge hips but a comparatively small waist, so always end up with trousers that fall down.

Tell you what Tutter, if you only want them for a few weeks, then buy them, and when you have the baby, I'll buy them off you for £11. Then they've only cost you a couple of quid.

Tutter · 01/06/2007 14:15

csws, it's a deal. only we'll split the price of them - so will send them on for £6.50 in a few weeks' time (may not be long - baby huge and may come early!)

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/06/2007 14:16

All excited now - hope they are good.

fruitful · 01/06/2007 14:21

What a fantastic idea!

But on that site - under "gifts for children" - timeout rug!

Pixiefish · 01/06/2007 14:23

I got mine last week off the market for £8. They're mens braces, no one knows I have them on cos they're under my t shirt and when I'm finished with them they'll do for someone else I'm sure

bumperlicious · 01/06/2007 14:27

Very impressed at the hold ups. Sorry to hijack your thread tutter but does anyone with experience think those nursing wraps are a good idea or a complete waste of money? Just wondering as 38 weeks and wondering how the whole BF thing is going to go...

Pixiefish · 01/06/2007 14:40

Unless you're very very very shy then I wouldn't bother. You'll soon get the hang of discreet breastfeeding. Should imagine that would be more trouble trying to get yourself sorted with it. Wear baggy t shirts

fruitful · 01/06/2007 14:41

Have just ordered some Belly-Ups! If anyone else is thinking of getting some, the American site that Tutter linked to does ship to the UK. $22 inc p&p vs £17 from the UK site. $22 is about £11, yes?

Bumperlicious - those nursing wraps look like they'd get in the way to me. To start with you can only bf in private cos you need to let it all hang out and see what you're doing. Then you get used to it, and you can just shove them up your tshirt and don't need extra cover ups. I found discreet bf'ing was harder in the winter when I was wearing more layers - more stuff to organise out of the way! I think a muslin cloth over your shoulder does the job just as well. Or those belly band things look good. Band to cover up your stretch-marked midrif, tshirt to cover up your top half, baby to cover up the bit in between!

Tutter · 01/06/2007 14:44

just to contradict the others (sorry) i think they'd be great and have ordered one

a regular poncho would prob be fine but i like the fact they're lightweight so baby won't be too hot

i managed fine without one first time around but am going to be out and about much more this time as also have a toddler

(also quite like the look of them anyway)

do you know Tutter, when I was at this stage of pregnancy with ds4 so started dreaming about/looking at dungerees....
I very nearly bought some, but then reality dawned at I realised dungerees are on a road I will ever go travel.

I just continued to suffer the maternity jeans but always changed as soon as I crossed the threashold of our house.
