How many tests did you take after your BFP?

Happy weekend everyone! Smile

I tested positive on FRER on Monday (and on Clearblue digital on Tuesday) but my first "official" check up is not until August 14th. I am wondering whether in the meantime I should keep testing to make sure the lines get darker and everything is fine? The Boots cheapos are quite terrible so I would get FRER, but they are quite expensive, so I am feeling like wasting money? How many did you take? I don't know if I am being paranoid Grin

Got my BFP then took one more test to check it- then stopped myself from doing any more because I know it's a slippery slope and I would end up obsessing over the darkness of lines etc.! I'd say try and sit tight if you can OP. Congratulations Grin

None.

GinGeum · 04/08/2018 09:41

After too many months of obsessing over whether I was seeing lines or not, I stopped testing completely. The month I had an inkling I was pregnant at long last, I tested on day of missed period, got a positive and that was that. Too scared to do anymore incase I got a result I didn’t want! DH suggested doing another a week later ‘just incase’ but I couldn’t do it!

coffeeforone · 04/08/2018 09:41

Every day for the first two weeks with the expensive ones too! Definitely not normal and looking back I was being ridiculous! Spent a fortune in secret!

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 04/08/2018 09:43

I took about 4 tests after my BFP with my last pregnancy as I had tested earlier therefore the line was faint and I wanted to see line progression. As soon as I saw what I needed to see I stopped.

NameChange30 · 04/08/2018 09:44

None. Didn’t see the point.

Iwantaunicorn · 04/08/2018 09:46

We were ivf, and I tested the day before my first should see a positive blood test, got a faint positive. Decided we couldn’t possibly be that lucky (even though I’d sent it to my dh and my family) so took two more tests, and had a further two blood tests (private, but they were to track my hcg levels!) then booked a private scan for the earliest we could do, which was 6 weeks.

I stopped testing after the blood tests, but it was so nerve wracking waiting. After the first scan I moved to having a fair few private scans because we didn’t believe we’d been so lucky.

Congratulations!!! 💐💐💐

Shmithecat · 04/08/2018 09:47

None. I did have a scan at 5+4 though.

Liz38 · 04/08/2018 09:59

None. It never occurred to me!

Stephisaur · 04/08/2018 10:03

Got my BFP son a FRER. Took a Rapid Response test immediately afterwards as it’s less sensitive and I wanted to just check 😂

Then I took one about 2 weeks later out of idle curiosity. I didn’t really see much point in continuously testing x

BasicUsername · 04/08/2018 10:06

Don't do it.

I kept testing after I got a positive, and then a few times got a much paler line, and it made me really stressed. In the end I booked an early reassurance scan at 6 weeks I think.

Congratulations on your pregnancy 😊

Nothisispatrick · 04/08/2018 10:13

None. There is no point. Lines change strength for all sorts of reasons and unfortunately if you are going to miscarry nothing can be done to stop it and often little medical professionals can do anyway.

Continous testing is so bad for your mental health, just spend some time reading the conception board to see that.

CoodleMoodle · 04/08/2018 10:16

With DD I did two tests, mainly because I tested late at night and wanted to make sure. Plus we were having fertility issues and I was shocked.

With DS I did one test (in the evening!) on a whim, and that was that.

Havetothink · 04/08/2018 10:19

First pregnancy I did one test. Second I did three because it immediately followed a miscarriage and I wanted to be sure the numbers were going up not down. Don't do extra tests if you don't need to, it won't affect the result and they're only designed to detect pregnancy not monitor it.

Darkstar4855 · 04/08/2018 10:21

I took a CB digital with the weeks indicator a week after my BFP mainly because there was a second one in the pack and I thought it would be fun to see the number of weeks increase. In retrospect I think it would have caused me a lot of anxiety if it hadn’t though.

The trouble with looking at line progression is that the darkness of the line can vary massively even between tests of the same brand. They’re designed to give a positive or a negative result, not to measure pregnancy progression. I’ve seen threads on here before where people have driven themselves mad with worry because the line isn’t getting darker and then the pregnancy turns out fine so my advice is don’t do it!

Mousefunky · 04/08/2018 10:24

I took two the day I found out then I bought a clear blue digital to see how far along it said I was, came up as 3+. I didn’t test again after that. There was a whole thread on here a couple months back from a frantic mum to be testing every two seconds and panicking over the lines getting fainter. Don’t do it to yourself. You. Are. Pregnant.

emwithme · 04/08/2018 10:34

I did two tests. One Asda cheapy, one CB digital weeks indicator.

Never saw the need to do more than that. Now 22+6 and being booted by a kick-boxing octopus.

Cherubfish · 04/08/2018 10:37

None. Congratulations OP Smile

Yerp · 04/08/2018 10:41

Far too many definitely not about 15 I had just had a miscarriage though and my anxiety just escalated.

But I absolutely would not recommend this. There were many pointless tears over slightly fainter lines and clear blue digitals saying 1-2weeks longer than it should, then the same with the 2-3weeks. I finally stopped testing daily at about 18dpo then went to twice a week until my reassurance scan at 6 weeks. I was ridiculous. Don’t be like me.

userabcname · 04/08/2018 10:49

I did a few frer/early response type tests and once there was a clear line I did a CB digital. After seeing 'Pregnant' I stopped testing.

darceybussell · 04/08/2018 11:02

None, I didn't even know it was a thing at the time and the line was pretty dark anyway as I waited a few days after my missed period. If you do a load of tests I think it will only make you more anxious if the line doesn't get darker.

I know it's easier said than done but I'd try and think of it that you've had a positive test, so you're pregnant now. There is a 3/4 chance you'll get to 12 weeks and absolutely nothing you can do about that. There is no point fretting about it when you have no control over it - all you can do is wait and see if you get to 12 weeks. That's how I tried to think of it anyway.

cakesandphotos · 04/08/2018 12:25

I took loads! The novelty of seeing two lines appear after months and months of BFNs didn’t wear off for ages Grin

Hjkillas · 04/08/2018 12:29

I got my BFP before my period was due so I took about 25 altogether.
But then I was obsessive and it was unhealthy haha

GetThisBabyOut · 04/08/2018 12:53

Did one, got my BFP and that was that.

EPU did one when I had some bad cramping about a week later and I was terrified it would be negative and I was imagining the previous positive test 😂

Happyandshiney · 04/08/2018 13:02

None.

After six years or infertility with all. the attendant tests, procedures and treatments seeing a positive test once was enough for me.

I waited to test on the correct day though.
