Drinks to try with morning sickness

Hi all,

I'm 13 weeks today and still feeling nauseous and being sick. Drinking water (even small sips throughout the day) makes me feel really yucky and usually results in vomiting. I've gone off tea (tried black red bush tea last night and that's a no too) , ginger ale, squash, coke, 7 Up, soya chocolate milk, soya strawberry milk, sparkling water with/without lemon slice. It's like drinking full stop makes me feel sick. I don't know why I'm posting really but does anyone have any other suggestions please? I'm not dangerously dehydrated or anything but I really miss having a good drink - especially when it's hot.

Thanks!

You may find this controversial, but when I had awful morning sickness freexing cold alcohol free beer was all I could manage. And I mean 0% obviously!

I think the bubbles without the sweetness worked.

Might want to avoid necking it from the bottle in public though!

I can only face marmite on crumpets too.

Could....

ThrownMuse · 02/08/2018 17:32

Sorry...meant freezing!

redastherose · 02/08/2018 21:16

Ginger beer (non alcoholic obvs) was what I drank and it was the only thing that worked for me.

Lemon tango ice blasts were the only thing I could sip. My DH had to go to the cinema and buy them.

Volvic lemon and lime water and lemonade for me, I drank a 2l bottle of the water daily at work for months then one day I thought it tasted like poison and was convinced something was wrong with it, someone else tasted and it was fine. Pregnancy can be really weird.

Hope you feel better soon, I was prescribed tablets too but didn't take them as I felt I felt better after actually being sick.

I also ate loads of crackerbreads which literally look and taste like polystyrene but I could always force them down. Mashed potato also, my husband made me mash for tea most nights for a month.

Full fat coke was the only thing that helped nausea and vomiting for me

Picklesandpies · 03/08/2018 03:27

@gilmoregal that made me laugh. Pregnancy really does do strange things to your senses!

@ThrownMuse definitely one of the more out there suggestions but I can actually see why it would be appealing. I don't like beer normally but might love it now - who knows!

Grapefruit for me as well. But it was Marks and Spencer (had to be M&S, no other brand would do) Pink Grapefruit Squash

I'm also 13 weeks and ice cold Dr Pepper is the only thing that is really helping me. Frustratingly my sickness has got worse again this week. According to a friend, McDonalds chocolate milkshakes taste good both ways!

Picklesandpies · 03/08/2018 09:51

Both food tips! Thanks. Might send my husband out for a milkshake later...

Honestly, try them. The first few times he wasn’t keen on going to the cinema without actually seeing a film but he soon got over it Grin.
