We have a George (obviously!) as its a family name on DH's side. This time we like Edson for a boy (Pele's real name) but really don't know for a girl.

Have you chosen yet?

Pebblemum · 02/08/2007 23:59

Havent read the whole thread but there are some lovely names out there.

I have
ds1 = Jordan James Gordon
ds2 = Ethan Michael
DD1 = Alana May

Dh wanted dd to be called Trinidy after the character in The Matrix, he went on about it for months. He was the only one who liked it though and in the end we talked him out of it

dd was either going to be Deacon or Adam if she had been a boy

rnbsmum · 03/08/2007 00:11

DD is Rosalyn Mae, known as Rosie
Ds is William Fraser, known as Billy

halogen · 08/08/2007 20:59

My daughter is called Tabitha Lily (Lily was my grandmother's name). Names I liked that were vetoed by my other half included:

Emmeline
Ottilie
Clementine
Harriet
Florence

We both liked

Matilda
Violet
Amelia

If she'd been a boy, I really liked

Solomon
William
Felix
James
Samuel
Benedict

Luckily we didn't have to argue about any of those.

i have an ella and an amelia, for this one i want lucy and dh wants lilly

chunkypudding · 19/11/2007 13:10

nappyaddict, are you just listing all the names in the world??

susiemj · 19/11/2007 13:33

I'm a frustrated name giver as we have to choose a name which is roughly the same in Spanish and Enlgish. We're expecting a girl so names we can almost agree on are:

Rosalia (pronounced rosa-lee-a)
Beatriz Maria
Anna Maria
Inez

I like Leah and Farah. DH likes Eloise. I would never be able to get that song out of my head though.

Anyone have any opinions on these?

nappyaddict · 19/11/2007 14:27

what about mercedes, natalia, lola, luisa, rosa, carmen ... all nice spanishy/englishy names.

SHEENA1 · 19/11/2007 14:55

i called my daughter CHLOE and im now having a boy which will be called andrew

but i love

KAI for a boy

susiemj · 19/11/2007 15:48

I like them nappy addict, but to Spanish DH they sound like Sharon, Tracy (put in here any name commonly used in your childhood). They are really common names in Spain. This is part of my frustration!

susiemj · 19/11/2007 15:56

In fact, when I was first pregnant, Spanish family sat around taking the rise out of these names. I tried to hide my sinking heart.....

nappyaddict · 19/11/2007 16:01

have you looked on here you can search for names with spanish origin.

susiemj · 19/11/2007 16:17

Thanks for that website. I take it you don;t like our names?

kelbel · 19/11/2007 17:03

we're having a little boy and calling him flynn, probably zac for a middle name

e14mum · 19/11/2007 17:19

susiemj- those are all very pretty names you've come up with. I like Anna Maria and Rosalia myself.

Janus · 19/11/2007 20:34

Wow Nappy, you have spent a lot of time thinking about this !!
Is it just me or do people think you can only choose an Irish name if you are Irish, Spanish if you are Spanish, etc?
We are expecting our third, we have 2 daughters,

Lottie (not short for anything) and
Rosie

We also like

Ella
Tilly

Always get stuck on boys so having girls has worked so far! But, like

Jamie (although this was really pre Jamie Oliver so not sure now if this is used much more now?)
Oliver (see above!!)
Eddie

I love Bertie and Hector which someone mentioned but would someone think they are a toff in time to come??!

Better get thinking again I guess!

nappyaddict · 19/11/2007 23:43

i think anyone can have an irish/spanish/french etc name as long as it can easily be said in the language they speak and doesn't sound silly.

no i do like our names susie (anna the best) - i thought you weren't overly keen though?
