Hiya

Just wondered if anyone has got any info on the signs that you're carrying a boy (old wives tales or otherwise), i.e. hair growing everywhere, date of conception etc etc

I heard that if you conceive later in your cycle you are more likely to have a boy. I also read that if you have hairy nips, it's a sign of a boy (lol!!).

So come on then, spill the beanz!

I have heard the opposite about ms actually - I thought it signified a boy.

I have very little ms (never physically sick ) - even with DTDs and I have 3 girls.

RGPargy · 24/05/2007 14:33

I've had very little MS too (only felt sick when thinking about certain foods but have never been physically sick).

I also had the same type of MS with my DS so who knows?!!

morning sickness with my boys, evening sickness with my girl

bumps all the same, large and all round

thirtysomething · 24/05/2007 14:43

was sick for longer with dd than ds - had lots of savoury cravings with ds (chinese food, crisps, salty soup) whereas with dd tended to crave chocolate, showed less with ds - was more of a flat, wide bump, whereas dd was rounder and stuck out more. Oh, and we always knew ds would be into sports as he kicked and rolled constantly whereas dd was a lot lazier!

I would go with heart rate. Was lower with DS. With DD couldn't tell with scan - told me they could "find no evidence of a boy" so said more than likely a girl. M/W at AN checks said girl because of high HR - around 140-150bpm. Turned out to be right!

Oooh I hoped for a girl and at the twenty week scan I saw what I thought was a penis and yelled: "ooh look, it's a boy, I can see his todger and it's ENORMOUS".

Sonographer pointed out this was the umbilical cord

Willy on the scan.

2Happy · 24/05/2007 15:01

With dc2 I "knew" it was a girl because a) the 20w scan said so, b) the heart rate was faster, c) I had worse morning sickness and for longer than with ds1, d)carried differently, and e) about 50% of the idiots coming to give their unasked for opinion told me so....

dc2 is a boy

it's all bollocks (no pun intended )

bananabump · 24/05/2007 19:13

I was REALLY hoping for a girl and was gutted when they said he was a boy, but I've gotten used to calling him He now. If it turns out to be a girl I don't know how I'll feel! Everything's blue!

Katy44 · 24/05/2007 19:25

I had loads of ms and was convinced from asking lots of people that this indicated a boy. Feeling sick without actually being sick (or just once or twice) indicated girl. I had a boy.

sparklygothkat · 24/05/2007 21:19

I had no MS with DS, but couldn't eat properably, kept gagging, No MS at all with DD1, with DD2 I gagged lots especially when brushing my teeth, this pregnancy I have had lots of MS, especially after brushing my teeth, I can't eat a full meal either

I just knew both times i was having a boy, never found out for first, but found it really hard to buy anything pink.

The second time before 20 weeks, all old wives tales said girl, but underneath the signs I felt boy, found out at 20 weeks it was a boy.

There was some sweedish study that found unless the mother had a preference for gender, she guessed correct about 80% of the time.

I think other people that guess have a pretty good shot at getting it right (using old wives tales or not) as it's 51/49 anyway.-

sparklygothkat · 25/05/2007 00:34

I guessed correctly with DS, my firsy baby, didn't have any idea with the girls though

RGPargy · 25/05/2007 12:02

I do have a strong feeling that this is a boy this time too. However with DS1, i felt that it was a boy at the beginning, a girl through the middle and then right at the end i changed my mind and went back to thinking it was a boy again.

So who knows!! I'll just have to wait for my scan in 10 weeks! AAGGHHH That's ages away!!!!
