First ever hangover at 25 & collapsed, pregnant?!

Hello! :)

Read so many posts on here but this is my first one I've written! I know nobody can tell me I'm pregnant or not without a test, however..

I'm 25 & have never had a hangover or been sick from drinking & ive done the 18-30 holidays, the bottles of vodka at 18 & zero hangover or sickness just tired & hungry!

So Saturday I went out had maybe 7 pints of strongbow dark fruits (new favourite thing ever for the last two weeks) and the next morning OH MY GOD (worth noting I hadn't eaten for maybe 14 hours at this point) so was sick just bile over and over again, in the end up I ended up collapsing while out sat with first response for 40 minutes & in an ambulance (breathed in & didn't breathe out) obs done & refused advice of an A&E due to where we were, was on my own with 8 year old & would have no way of getting home. They said that was fine but kept me in the ambulance untill obs were better & I had eaten & drank (their last job of the day) they suggested I did a pregnancy test.

There was one time in May that I could have got pregnant around ovulation time. Last period was June 6th but was only three days & prior to this I did I feel off and noticed a few things that I thought could be pregnant symptoms but then I had my period so thought it was just that. Since then I don't think I could be pregnant as I predict I'm due to ovulate around now. Although did have unprotected sex on the 8th June. Could I be pregnant even after having a 3 day period? I know it's slim!

Has anybody else been really ill after a night out early pregnancy? I didn't think much of it (just that I'm clearly getting old haha) untill my friend said she had this experience really early on! Today I have also nearly been sick on a car journey (had motion sickness with my first pregnancy)

If your still reading, thankyou!!

17 units is a massive binge.
It's more than your weekly suggested allowance and hugely unhealthy.
It's not uptight or pearl clutching to suggest this is a really bad idea.
Have a night out? Sure? Let your hair down? Why not? But drink so much you potentially endanger your health? Erm no thanks.

@Wolfiefan yes it is! I agree with you! I have seen it is like having 7 doubles which I think after 5 I'm about ready to call it quits! But I didn't mean or expect to feel the way I did in the morning or obviously I wouldn't have drank that much, wish you'd give me a break 👎🏽 I have explained many times.

I'm not a stupid person or a bad mum nor an alcoholic & saddened you keep trying to make me feel like one.

That dark fruits goes down way too easy. I'm 35 and a couple of cans will now leave me with a hangover Grin
I think it was about 10 years ago that my hangovers started getting bad. Welcome to ageing OP Wink

@NoseringGirl hahaha oh the joys! I'm hoping it was the choice of drink over the getting old I'm going to cling onto that if I can for just a little bit haha!!

7 pints is easily 15+ units of alcohol in one go. And do you realise how much sugar is in those dark fruits ciders? That amount of sugar and booze on an empty stomach would make anyone ill.

Reminds me of a time in uni with too many ales and Krispy Kreme donuts.

I think it was probably a combination of not been used to drinking that much at once (you say you drink 1 drink 3x per month so it's a bit of a leap to go to 7 drinks in how ever many hours), dehydration and low blood sugar from not eating adequately. Low sugar (hypoglycaemia) can make you feel like shit.

I rarely go out but if I do get the rare chance I usually feel like shit the next day. It puts me off alcohol for 4/6 months. Next time make sure you eat a big meal before you go and after every drink have a glass of water. You'll drink less, spend less and thank yourself for it the next day! I'll try and follow my own advice next time Grin

I gave never been ungover despite once having drunk enough to make myself sick but I haven't been drunk since I was 18. Frim what I understand most people only get hangovers as they get older. What I ha E however done was have a period while pregnant. Quite common apparently so I would suggest you do the test anyway.

Clearblue shows not pregnant (as expected) so no period whilst pregnant & think it would be too early this month to be related, so just can't handle my ale & getting old!! :D excited for holiday ... will watch the cocktail count!!

That's the problem right there lass.

Dark fruits cider is notorious for hangovers and every pub I work doors at only sell it in tins as it's vile.

To me (I've seen many a pub goer nissed as a pewt) the amount of sugar in the cider coupled by not eating (McDonald's is not food!) And then becoming dehydrated and a major sugar crash = passing out.

Now - No issues with what you drink and how much as that's between you and your liver but seven pints without proper food or (other drinks such as water?) Would mean you were on a crash course for pain city.

So next time, stay off cider where possible, eat salty food to help stabilise stomach and drink water.

(Friendly neighbourhood door supervisor who knows shit)

🤣

So ten units at a time is fine? No. It's still a binge.
You may not be an alcoholic but you definitely have a strange sense of what's normal drinking and are playing fast and loose with your health.
If ending up in an ambulance can't make you see you've behaved stupidly then I can't see what will. Wonder what that cost the cash strapped NHS. Hmm

Enjoy your holiday OP :) For the record, I am 40 and went out drinking for my birthday when - it turns out - I was 4 weeks pregnant, and I had 7 ciders. It's quite a normal amount to drink over a protracted session and yes, it is more than the government guidelines recommend but no one follows all the rules! I was fine that night, just tired, but three days later I had 3 pints of strongbow dark fruit and felt pretty rough the next day. Figured out I might be pregnant (was 1 day late). Haven't drunk anything since and am now 24 weeks pregnant and baby is fine.

Wolfie give it a break. I don’t understand why you keep quoting units, they’re not relevant to a one off piss up. People can binge if they want. She ended up in an ambulance because she fainted, it wouldn’t have been involved had she not been in public. Fainting isn’t a big deal, and it isn’t a long term health issue.

@TinyTerror1 congratulations how lovely! :) yes I think people have gone a bit mental about the alcohol I think if I had posted this on my personal Facebook there wouldn't have been such a commotion about alcohol units haha!

I'm amazed the paramedic suggested pregnancy when it's bleeding obvious you were shit faced and hungover. 7 pints of chemically sweetened alcohol will do that to a person.

You collapsed. Don't drink so much in the future.

@Sprinklesinmyelbow thankyou, ambulance only called as it's duty of onsite first response first aid & because I went from sat fine to near pass out again! Wondered how long the 'cost the nhs' would take!

@Gretol pregnant was suggested because as I have said about 20 times I have never had a hangover or been sick, and have drank much more than that & mixed drinks and been fine.

So a sudden change in a reaction to something that has never caused one before plus collapsing warranted them to think I could be & advised me to check :)

... for the 20+ time I wasn't shit faced, however was admittedly hungover :)

I'm presuming you aren't magical? Or superhuman?

If not then its very normal to get hangovers.

Ffs this thread is ridiculous. The op is in her 20s and had 7 drinks on a night out for her birthday. She wasn't shitfaced at the time and doesn't normally get hangovers so thought she would be fine to take her 8 year old shopping the next day. She doesn't normally drink as much and accepts it was too much alcohol. Some of the responses are so extreme and I wonder if they would be the same if op wasn't a young mum.
