I am very very ambivalent about another baby and this was highly unexpected but i would like to know where i stand here

i have done an embarassment of tests. they are mainly showing a faint positive. a few are negative.

i had bleeding ("old blood" IYKWIM, sorry for TMI) on Sunday, assumed early period tbh, but it stopped. Bleeding isn't really the word.

period due today I THINK. Hard to say because have not actually completed a cycle since last baby born.

Both my other kids-strong positive tests.

Am using super cheapo strip tests from advance diagnostics, does this make a difference?

am namechanger for obv reasons atm

If period is due it might be too early to test. I'd wait a few days and test again with reliable test. Hope everything works out ok!

colditz · 22/05/2007 17:06

They do say - a positive is a positive, even if you get other negatives, even if really faint, even if gone tomorrow. The only other chance is that this is a chemical pregnancy, but they are so very rare.

PinkTulips · 22/05/2007 17:07

sounds like your getting a very early positive and the weird bleeding was implantation.

congrats if it is

Pennypops · 22/05/2007 17:31

Buy a ClearBlue test and check in a couple of days! Its worth a tenner to know for sure.

bellabelly · 22/05/2007 17:34

I really wouldn't trust the cheapy tests - I've heard so many tales of women getting false positives or evap lines on those things. Hope you get a clearer idea of where you stand in a day or so - if you think your period's due about now, it shouldn't be too early to test with one of the very sensitive tests.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/05/2007 17:37

sounds like a bfp to me but would wait a couple of days, if you can bare it, then do a clearblue or predictor or something.
actually no, a first response if you are just due today.

mosschops30 · 22/05/2007 17:39

I would leave it a day or two and buy a clearblue, which are fab IMO

NatalieJane · 22/05/2007 17:58

My very pale dot (as it was on the tests I had) is now nearly 6 months old.

Good luck

MrsSausage · 22/05/2007 18:08

ok have done with first response

line still faint but deffo there

it does occur to me that this might be down to be having drunk most of a litre bottle of water to squeeze wee out in the first place?

you're pregnant

now go tell dh and get it over and done with. he might surprise you

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 22/05/2007 18:13

First response very accurate IMO. My very faint line now whirlwind of destruction aged 2yrs I think this is now a no brainer. I hope DH reacts well. Good luck Mrs S.

LadyTophamHatt · 22/05/2007 18:18

MrsS, when I tested with DS4 the line came up instantly.

It almost screamed "I'm a bright blue line...look at me....you're pregnant" at me it was so dark.

with the others I had very faint lines.

A line is a line.

Tell him, it'll be fine...really.

MrsSausage · 22/05/2007 18:41

right have been researching

what i am experiencing is actually consistant with implantation bleeding on sunday. so that would explain faint tests now, i think.

tegan · 22/05/2007 18:49

with dd2 I had such a faint line that I rang the pg test company for them to clarify and even at 7 weeks I still had the same faint line.

MrsSausage · 23/05/2007 09:14

tested again this morning with clearblue

it was a large, glowing, neon blue line

so i think it was implantation bleeding and the tests are shite.

MrsSausage · 23/05/2007 09:15

LongDistanceClara · 23/05/2007 09:16

Have a hug, my love. It will all come good, I am sure.

How was DP when you told him?

MrsSausage · 23/05/2007 09:19

this is really not good

he says he can only cope with a termination

i cannot cope with a termination

=> impasse

WendyWeber · 23/05/2007 09:20

When he's thought about it for a while he will come round - it's always a shock when you're not expecting that kind of news. Good luck

WendyWeber · 23/05/2007 09:21

Sorry, your last post wasn't there when I looked before

MrsSausage · 23/05/2007 09:22

I don't think he WILL

we went to great lengths to avoid this situation

OP posts:
LongDistanceClara · 23/05/2007 09:22

I think in that instance, you "win". If he's really that set against having any more, he should've abstained whilst waiting for the snip. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh

It will be fine.

TootyFrooty · 23/05/2007 09:26

Never mind what he can cope with - what about you? What do you want Mrs S?

I feel for you and hope this works out ok for you both.

MrsSausage · 23/05/2007 09:26

i don't think i CAN win

i think i probably am not being unreasonable. my body my choice etc etc.

but

i also love him

he is not saying this out of pigheadedness. he is being honest about what he can and cannot cope with.
