Hi, I am a FTM and looking for advice on which maternity pads are best for after the birth? I am only 33wks but want to be organised.
Please can you recommend any that I can buy from Amazon or Ebay (or the supermarket). I have no idea which ones would be best.

I am in the UK.

Thanks

I am in such a similar situation to you! 33 weeks tomorrow.
I was recommended Boots own Maternity Pads and have stocked up on them (however am yet to try them out...obviously!) they do seem to get good reviews.

Someaddedsugar · 09/06/2018 17:57

I would recommend Boots - also recommend their slim pads for when the bigger ones are too big.

hoopdeloop · 09/06/2018 17:57

I used boots maternity pads and never had any problems. They’re normally on a 3 for 2 as well

Am due in a week with baby 4. Kotex are the best from amazon you can get 12 packs for like £18 if am correct will do for the whole duration and will ha e packs left over, I also bought the adult size nappies tens I believe they’re called not sure now, as I hate leaking on the bed and knickers so first week will use the adult nappies also softer if you have stitches etc

Always infinity - they are sanitary towels but the best by far. They don't feel like you're wearing a nappy & soak up loads. Those & some cheap, massive pants from the supermarket - I felt much better 2nd & 3rd time around not wearing paper pants and massive pads that you get from the hospital.

Drchinnery · 09/06/2018 18:02

I found boots ones were really good!

MilkAndCookies1 · 09/06/2018 18:02

The best recommendation I’ve ever received for anything was to buy Tena lady incontinence knickers. The stuff that comes out of you can’t always be controlled by a pad, however good! They also made me feel a bit more secured and held in around my ‘war wounds’. Maybe get one pack to see you through the first few days and when it lessens move to pads.
You’re welcome Wink

BexleyRae · 09/06/2018 18:04

I used wilkinsons own brand and found they were very good. But you will probably need more pads than you thought so stock up as its 1 less thing to worry about

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/06/2018 18:06

Absolutely tena lady pants.
Thank me later.

angelopal · 09/06/2018 18:07

I have used Asda and Boots. Would recommend both.

Levithecat · 09/06/2018 18:11

Tena pants for the first day or so, then boots pads

GemmaLL · 09/06/2018 18:13

Thanks so much everyone Smile

I used Morrison's own and thought they were brilliant!

Asda ones were great - the thick ones for the first couple of weeks then the slim ones after that.

crispyskin · 09/06/2018 20:02

Definitely wings!

Babney · 09/06/2018 20:04

If you get stitches, the midwife said not to wear ones with plastic backing until healed.

I got the BV maternity pads. I was dreading them as so big & no wings but they were really good & absorbent.

jigglepiggle · 09/06/2018 20:04

The thick ones from boots are great. I actually wore them for longer than necessary because I had stitches and it was sore to sit down for a long time - the padding helped a lot. Good luck x

lapenguin · 09/06/2018 20:05

I found the massive tena lady incontinence pads best, but I hemorrhage 2 weeks post partum and that was the only thing that stood a chance at keeping anything in...

PasstheStarmix · 09/06/2018 20:06

Highly recommend Tesco’s own.

misskatamari · 09/06/2018 20:10

I used various super market ones and they were all fine. My one piece of advice is to buy loads! I was shocked by how many I went through when I had my first child

mineofuselessinformation · 09/06/2018 20:10

I was just coming on to say what jiggle said - people may say don't get bulky ones, but if you do have stitches they provide a bit of extra cushioning.

TammySwansonTwo · 09/06/2018 20:14

Totally agree on always infinity - I have extremely heavy periods and they’re wonderful, used them after my twin pregnancy too.

PasstheStarmix · 09/06/2018 20:17

I bought one large tesco box and they lasted me. After that I transitioned onto my regular always ultra pads.

Womble75 · 09/06/2018 20:21

Kotex nightime - you can get them from Superdrug. I used them for both DC. Very long and padded and super absorbent. The maternity pads I did try weren't half as good. Also can recommend buying a few packs of "granny" pants from Tesco or Asda - £5 for 5.
