Pretty sure I said I didn’t want to be contacted by third parties when I signed up but Scottish Power are ringing me 3 times a day despite me telling them that we’re happy with the energy company we’re with and their tarriff. I also said I wanted that to be the end of it and that I didn’t want to be contacted by them anymore but still they keep pestering me!!! It’s been every day, 3 times a day for a week now. I don’t want to be an arse with the person on the end of the phone as it’s not their fault but my fuse is running out!

Start talking about GDPR and tell them you’ll report them to the ICO. Hopefully that should get rid of them!

Iswallowtoothpaste · 08/06/2018 13:19

Thank you @Bethacus! I always feel bad being rude to the people on the end of the phone as they’re just doing their job but my god I’ve had enough now!

Not exactly, but I have had other problems. I clicked through from an Emma’s Diary email to enter a competition to win some vouchers the other day. I very carefully opted out of everything so I didn’t get spammed. Next thing I know, I get six emails telling me I’m now subscribed to some interiors magazine I’ve never heard of, and when I log in to my account it says I’m opted in to receive email, post and phone marketing from them and third parties! I kicked up a stink with them about GDPR and haven’t heard a peep since... Will be very wary of Emma’s Diary from now on!

I honestly think things like Emma’s Diary and Bounty do more harm than good. How it is seen as acceptable for marketing companies to prey on potentially vulnerable pregnant women and new parents, I don’t know. And all you get is a whole load of plastic crap.

MiniAlphaBravo · 08/06/2018 18:09

2nd time round I made sure I steered well clear of emma’s Crap diary and bounty. Load of shit and ridiculous that the nhs are involved with them.

surreygirl1987 · 08/06/2018 18:52

Omg YES!! I will steer clear in future! They kept calling me at work and tried to trick me into buying some book! I told them to take my name off their records and they haven't bothered me since
Nor has anyone else... hopefully my number hasn't been circulated!

Iswallowtoothpaste · 08/06/2018 20:11

They rang again tonight while I was asleep - have been absolutely exhausted today. OH answered the phone and went nuts. Told them we couldn’t change provider even if we wanted to as we’re on a farm and MIL died a year ago. At the moment it’s all in the hands of the executors (we lived in the same house as her). Second time I’ve just been drifting off and they’ve woken me up with the landline ringing 😡😡😡

So that's where all these cold calls have been coming from! I must've blocked at least 20 numbers lately, they're driving me bats.

laurG · 09/06/2018 10:09

Emmas diary is a total con! No idea how you are supposed to get the freebie pack promised. Then spammed daily by phone calls and emails. Cos being annoyed by sales staff is exactly what you want pregnant!

sparkles212 · 09/06/2018 10:40

I've got the freebie packs but for a few samples of nappy cream and sanitary towels it's not worth the harassment!

Blue25654 · 09/06/2018 12:01

Just to warn you all bounty is the same thing, they come round the postnatal ward and make out like their pack is the only way you can get the child benefit form while you're knackered from giving birth in order to take your details and sell them on for further harrassment.

EeekPreggoAgain · 09/06/2018 15:19

I just filled the form out (from the Midwife magazine not online) with nonsense details. No probs.

TheGreatestHo · 09/06/2018 15:23

Rule one of pregnancy

Say no to Emma’s Diary and Bounty.

Signing up to their packs is you signing up to all this shit

Even if you don’t sign up, the Bounty crew still attempt to harrass you on the ward - ensure they won’t bother you by instructing the ward not to allow them near you

TheGreatestHo · 09/06/2018 15:25

Emma’s Diary and Bounty basically make money from giving samples from third parties and selling your details to third parties. Nothing else. Nothing is “free”

CanIGetARefund · 09/06/2018 15:27

I never had a bounty pack due to having home births. You can download a child benefit form from the internet. Some councils let you claim child benefit at the same time you register the birth. It's called "tell us once".

BangingOn · 09/06/2018 15:27

Mumsnet ran an excellent campaign when I was pregnant a few years ago against Bounty and targeting women on maternity wards.

I totally fell for all this crap the first time round. After a traumatic birth, dealing with colic and feeding issues for those first few weeks, I was in no state to deal with cold caller trying to sell me stuff for the baby - who obviously I wanted to get all the best stuff for. I signed up for loads of stuff that all turned out to be crap and it took a while to cancel them. I honestly liken it to praying on the vulnerable - cos no other time in my life have I given cold caller the time of day but I just wasn’t in the right state of mind.

IncyWincyMouseRat · 09/06/2018 17:28

It’s really sad that that campaign didn’t really achieve anything. Maybe it’s time we started it up again?

TheGreatestHo · 09/06/2018 20:05

Agreed Incy. Nothing changed but with the NHS getting money from them, I guess we’re hard pushed to make a difference
