Lack of sickness a bad omen? When did your sickness start?

Hi Ladies, I'm new to the pregnancy posts. It's been really useful and reassuring reading through some of the previous posts, but I thought I'd start my own for answers to this very question.
I'm 6w+2d pregnant, due late December. But so far not a jot of pregnancy sickness/nausea, which is making me anxious that the pregnancy is not progressing as it should.
When did your sickness start? Did anyone have no sickness and then later a miscarriage?

I didn't have sickness until 8 weeks when I started to feel nauseous at random times. By 9 weeks I was vomiting multiple times a day and struggling to keep down water! I was diagnosed with HG at that point. So it could still happen!

MirandaWest · 02/05/2018 08:43

Think mine started somewhere between 6 and 7 weeks. Not everyone has it though (lucky them)

LisaSimpsonsbff · 02/05/2018 08:46

Mine started at 9 weeks but was mild and intermittent even then. Many women get none at all - I think around 20%. They go on and on about the 'it's a sign of a healthy pregnancy!' thing to cheer up the women really suffering with morning sickness, but it doesn't mean something bad will happen if you have none (nor does having sickness mean you won't miscarry). The studies that showed a link got a lot of coverage, but people often misinterpret them - there's a reassuring article from a good source here: www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/pregnancy-news-and-blogs/if-you-dont-get-morning-sickness-theres-no-need-worry. At 6 weeks there's still every chance that you will get morning sickness later (and may regret wishing for it!), but if you don't then it's not something to panic about!

"Did anyone have no sickness and then later a miscarriage?"

You're asking the wrong question ;). Stay positive. Ask "DId anyone have no sickness and then later have a perfectly healthy baby?"

I am 12 weeks and while assured I'm not out of the woods, I've had no sickness. I've had the slightest wobbles here and there - maybe a tiny wave of nausea from time to time but nothing I would even have recognized as out of the ordinary not-pregnant. Have had scan to confirm heartbeat etc so there is definitely a live baby in there. Apparently 25% of women don't have nausea/sickness so it's perfectly normal.

I only ever felt sick if I smelt hot food or drinks. And this was only between 7 weeks and 13 weeks. 36 weeks now and baby doing fine x

leannejade · 02/05/2018 08:48

I had no sickness, no nausea. I threw up once the entire pregnancy.
My boy was born healthy at 40+6 and is now 6 months old pulling my hair next to me in bed.

I was waiting for sickness to come at 6 weeks on the dot and it never did.

iklboo · 02/05/2018 08:48

I was never sick and only mildly nauseous a few times, usually when smelling really strong aromas or cigarettes.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 02/05/2018 08:49

My sickness didn’t start. 2 incredibly healthy pregnancies, no issues or symptoms at all other than heartburn and nosebleeds. ‘Count yourself lucky!’ as everyone told me, although I definitely would have liked some symptoms in those early days! Try not to worry.

RubyBoots7 · 02/05/2018 08:51

It didn't start ever. I didn't suffer with morning sickness at all (did have other pg symptoms later on to deal with before I make anyone feel too bad!!).
Many of my friends had little or zero morning sickness. It's quite normal not to have it, even though many people do have MS, but people don't really talk about the not having it!
I have heard there is some familial link, so ask your Mum if she had it (mine didn't with any of us - brothers and sisters).

PenguinChristmas · 02/05/2018 08:52

Never had morning sickness with my son and again this time (I’m 30+4) no sickness. The only time I felt nauseous was when I had a real aversion to meat especially chicken ... shopping in the fresh meat aisle was terrible.

Interestingly I never really get sick unless food poising 1 time or say hangover induced I can’t think of a time I’ve thrown up as an adult whereas my friend gets sick really easily from various things and she has the worst morning sickness. I wondered if our natural disposition to sickness that makes it not happen for some people

oneofthose · 02/05/2018 08:52

Mine started at 9 weeks with severe vomiting and now my perfectly healthy baby is asleep on me right now!

cloudtree · 02/05/2018 08:54

I have two very healthy children one now 13 and one 10. I had no sickness with either of my pregnancies.

Its not an indicator of anything.

PerspicaciaTick · 02/05/2018 08:54

I had no sickness with either of my pregnancies. An aversion to certain smells which made me a bit queasy, but no vomiting.

fatbottomgirl67 · 02/05/2018 08:56

No sickness at all with 1st dd. Went full term +11. Happy healthy 18year old now. Very sick with dd2 but not ds1. No idea why Just try to be grateful rather than worried ( easier said than done ) and enjoy x

Bibijayne · 02/05/2018 09:09

I was sick from week 4 to week 11. My mum however (who had three kids) had no morning sickness whatsoever during her pregnancies.

Essexmummy88 · 02/05/2018 09:10

I’ve never been sick once in any of my four pregnancies - two ended in miscarriage and the other two were perfectly healthy babies

gemwhitt · 02/05/2018 09:10

Thanks for all the comments. RubyBoots7 my mum did have it badly, which is why I was expecting it. That and a friend told me hers came at 6 weeks on the dot.
Feel much better after reading so many stories of no sickness or sickness starting later.

Liz3891 you are right - could have worded it better! Will be better at posting more positive questions in future!

I have no sickness or nausea from two healthy pregnancies.

Congratulations and good luck.

MeredithShepherd · 02/05/2018 09:35

I’ve had no sickness at all with either of my pregnancies. In fact I wouldn’t have even known j was pregnant apart from no periods and seeing a baby on the scan screen!

crimsonlake · 02/05/2018 10:04

Another one who had 2 with no sickness whatsoever.

Fia256 · 02/05/2018 10:06

I felt totally unpregnant until about 7-8 weeks. From then on I was throwing up all day every day up until about 17 weeks. Then a few weeks off and I'm now 22 weeks and back to throwing up again! Makes me laugh now when I think back to those first few weeks of knowing wishing I would be sick! You might be really lucky and not get sick at all but I definitely think at 6-7 weeks you've still got plenty of time for it to sneak up on you

FutureFairyCrayon · 02/05/2018 10:19

My mum had terrible morning sickness so I was prepared for the worst, but nothing. Not even a whisper of nausea. DD is now three and I will be forever grateful that I didn’t suffer from it.

Conversely, I’ve had it in other pregnancies which did not work out.

GottaFindTchange · 02/05/2018 10:53

I've had 2 children and no morning sickness. Tiredness yes but no nausea.
