Struggling with craving for a beer in the sunshine

Anyone else? Before I got pregnant I drank pretty regularly. I've been completely sober since 4+4 when I found out I was pregnant but this weather just makes me want to sit in the sun with a nice cold beer. It's driving me nuts Envy

I need a cocktail! Strawberry daiquiri. 5.5 weeks!

MrsDx · 20/04/2018 15:51

I want a glass of fizz so badly. Haven’t cared till the sun came out 😩

Mousefunky · 20/04/2018 16:34

I’ve got a couple of bottles of alcohol free kopperberg for this evening. Really looking forward to drinking it. Morrisons have a large selection of alcohol free stuff.

KTD27 · 20/04/2018 17:54

Ooh. Not sure if someone said this already but the new Robinson’s lime and mint cordial and soda water is like a non alcoholic mojito. Delish.

EeekPreggoAgain · 20/04/2018 17:59

Defo the wheat beers! Erdinger? I think?? Sainsbury’s do two kinds, much closer to actual beer.

TinyTerror1 · 20/04/2018 18:18

Went to Sainsbury's and picked up some San Miguel 0.0, a bottle of Erdinger and one of Franziskaner. The San Miguel is ok but I really liked the Erdinger (and it has folic acid in 😂). Haven't tried the Franziskaner yet...

They also had quite a selection of no alcohol wine and fizz but I've yet to hear anything good so didn't risk buying any.

Just been to Tesco and picked up some Nanny State and Heineken 0%. Not tried the NS yet but the Heineken is really nice, much better than Becks Blue.

Budweiser have started doing a non alcoholic one. It's lovely. Black & white can.

killinginthenameof · 20/04/2018 19:08

Have you made a decision not to drink at all? If you want one that bad I'd just have one, I had a half of Guinness or occasional glass of prosecco when I was expecting. But it's a personal choice I guess

Smallhorse · 20/04/2018 19:19

I’d just have one !

TinyTerror1 · 20/04/2018 19:19

I tend to be a session drinker so I'd rather stick to non-alcoholic. I might have a glass of fizz at my stepmum's 70th in a few weeks - push the boat out!

Smallhorse · 20/04/2018 19:19

But huge kudos to you if you’ve decided to forego all alcohol !

Smallhorse · 20/04/2018 19:20

Ah right, bit of a sesh girl myself

museumum · 20/04/2018 19:23

Eridinger is great. It was my pregnancy choice and now driving drink of choice.

DappledThings · 20/04/2018 20:01

Just don't ever go for the Cobra one. It's incredibly sweet, nothing like beer

katmarie · 20/04/2018 20:20

I never found any decent no alcohol wines, they all tasted horribly chemically to me, but waitrose do the bees knees sparkling wine in white or rose, which I found excellent, if slightly sweet. Sainsbury's also do a low alcohol sparkly wine which was very drinkable.

Beers wise amazon do an alcohol free mixed case which had some great ones in. I basically existed on nanny state and franziskaner though. I also liked the bud prohibition, and I doubt I could have told the difference between regular and alcohol free Heineken in a taste test. Sainsbury's also does a 0.5% cider which is very good, as does waitrose.

tappitytaptap · 20/04/2018 21:59

Cobra made me want to vom! Nothing like alcoholic Cobra, which I like. Love Erdinger, me and DH continued to drink it when I wasn't pregnant. I have some Bavaria in the cupboard on the recommendation of a friend but sadly at 16 weeks I still feel nauseous and definitely not up for beer, alcoholic or not! I had a sip of DH's Hop House 13 which I like lots normally the other day and it tasted odd and felt like it was burning going down!!

ZaphodBeeblerox · 20/04/2018 22:01

That was gins not guns obviously! Hope you like it @unicornchaser
I never drink beer normally but craved it when pregnant (and happily loved the non alcoholic stuff).

Bethacus · 21/04/2018 06:55

Me and DP (who’s given up drinking ‘in solidarity’) have taken to ordering random beers off this website: drydrinker.com as he’s a bit of a craft beer fan and the supermarket ones don’t tend to scratch that itch for him. They also do wine, but I haven’t found an acceptable substitute for that yet.

Ekphrasis · 21/04/2018 07:24

Oh for me it was seeing a big bottle of prosecco yesterday eve!

I opted for a very strong fancy ginger beer. Angry

EthelBeavers · 21/04/2018 07:41

I had a terrible beer craving when I was pregnant, Bitburger Drive and Nanny State were the two winners for me. Something I wish I'd known at the time though is that Morrison's own brand value lager is 2%. Might be a good alternative to a shandy if like me you don't like lemonade in beer.

TiffanyDoggett · 21/04/2018 07:54

Becks blue was my friend throughout my first pregnancy. I did everything by the book and didn't touch a drop of alcohol.

In my pregnancy just finished I was a lot more relaxed about everything Blush rare meat, caffeine and a glass of something alcoholic if I fancied it. If I was still pregnant I would have had a lager yesterday! As it happens I had a big glass of rose whilst breastfeeding!! Went straight to my head Grin

Reading Emily Oster's, expecting better made me a lot less worried about the pregnancy 'rules' but kudos to you if you choose to abstain throughout.

HappyHedgehog247 · 21/04/2018 08:04

I think the Sainsbury's non-alc prosecco is ok although sweeter than I normally have but better than nothing. I also like Erdinger and there's a Czech one they sell I like too. Dislike Nanny State. Will try Heineken after this thread!

kirinm · 21/04/2018 08:07

I've heard rumours that Seedsip spice is an excellent gin alternative. Quite pricey though but think I'll invest in a bottle.
